Week 9 NFL Picks + Odds Boosts To Watch | Ravens, Seahawks, Chiefs, Vikings | 11/8

Odds boosts are exactly that: Promotions from sportsbooks where they move tin your favor on certain bets. Many of them are prop bets, hoping you’ll put a few dollars on someone to hit a home run or a certain team to score a certain number of goals and still win. Our job is to highlight some of those odds boosts and give you some NFL bets and picks to bet on, assuming it’s smart to buy into the NFL odds the sportsbooks are selling. We scour the internet trying to find the best odds boosts for you every day from every sport. Per usual, we take a look at the three-team parlays from various sportsbook in our Friday post.

Today’s post is a bit unique because the odds-boost parlays from FanDuel and DraftKings are eerily similar. Both sportsbooks included the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks in their parlays, but differed on the third team added, and therefore the odds are different as well. These parlays are far riskier than the ones posted over the past few weeks as both the Ravens and Seahawks are playing division leaders this weekend. However, they both are favored which means the value in these parlays might be worth the risk.

Week 9 NFL Odds Boosts + NFL Picks & Predictions

NFL Picks: Ravens, Seahawks & Chiefs Win (+300 DraftKings)

Baltimore has the most difficult matchup of these three teams with a trip to Indianapolis to face the Colts. Indianapolis ranks fifth in scoring defense and has allowed the second-fewest yards per game in the NFL. However, the Colts’ offense has struggled against average defenses or better, and Baltimore has an elite unit on that side of the ball. Philip Rivers is known to be interception-prone and the Ravens excel at takeaways and capitalizing on those turnovers. This game will be decided by how well the Colts can contain Lamar Jackson and Baltimore’s rushing attack as the second-ranked rushing defense in the league. If Indianapolis can force Jackson into throwing the ball more, it has a much better chance at pulling off the upset. Yet, that’s only if the Colts can score points on Baltimore’s defense, which might be the far bigger challenge.

The Seahawks might be playing the AFC-East-leading Bills, but the Buffalo team we’ve seen over the last few weeks looks nothing like the one that set the league ablaze in the first four weeks. The Bills are getting healthier on defense and that will certainly help, but Buffalo has a tall task to slow down Russell Wilson and Seattle’s passing game. Seattle should be able to take advantage of Buffalo’s lack of depth at cornerback with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and Wilson’s elusiveness will help against an aggressive but ill-disciplined Bills pass rush. Seattle’s defense is still a weakness, but Josh Allen will need to return to his form from September if Buffalo is actually going to exploit those holes.

Kansas City has made the past few weeks look quite easy since losing to the Raiders, and that likely won’t change Sunday against Carolina. The Chiefs’ offense is clicking at every level from Patrick Mahomes‘ five touchdown passes last week to the strong running from rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Defensively, the Chiefs really haven’t been challenged since the Raiders’ loss and they have looked stout against the run. The Panthers will receive a lift from the return of Christian McCaffrey, though it remains to be seen what sort of impact that will have for Carolina’s offense. Teddy Bridgewater has been able to forge a strong connection with Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore, but that has been too much of the Panthers’ offense during this three-game losing streak.

NFL Picks: Ravens, Seahawks & Vikings (+360 FanDuel)

The Vikings might be 2-5, but they proved last week just how good they can be when everyone is playing up to their potential. The victory over Green Bay is certainly a major confidence boost, but Minnesota must keep its foot on the pedal, especially since its defense still ranks 29th in both points and yards allowed per game. Dalvin Cook has a chance to have another big game on the ground for the Vikings against Detroit’s 23rd-ranked rushing defense, but the Vikings need to be equally prepared to slow down Adrian Peterson for the Lions.

Ultimately, what might be the Vikings’ saving grace is Matthew Stafford‘s absence after the quarterback was placed on the COVID-19 Reserve List, which means Chase Daniel will start for Detroit. Daniel has seen limited action in his career as a backup and will benefit from a full week of practice as the starter. However, it is still a tall task for him to keep up Stafford’s strong play at quarterback given the Lions’ receiving options
