Round 4 PGA DFS Picks: Arnold Palmer Invitational

Previous Round Recap

With two holes in one, a drivable par 5 and so much more, it was really a great day for golf. Jordan Spieth wowed the crowds once again with his irons; if he gets a semi-consistent off-tee game, watch out. Then there’s the best spectacle in golf right now, Bryson DeChambeau, who dared to do things that few are others are capable of doing.

In terms of the big movers, Jazz Janewattananond rode a hole in one to a second straight positive day around Bay Hill and had himself in a position to do big things for his career. The biggest mover on the day, however, was Keegan Bradley, who shot a tournament-low 64 and went from just the middle of the field to a tie for fourth with Spieth. Defending champion Tyrrell Hatton continued his impressive bounce back after an abysmal opening round and sits just outside the top 10. With 64 being the tournament low, Hatton will likely have to shoot that given the talent in front of him.

It’s Hatton’s older countrymate, Lee Westwood, who they all will be chasing, as he hit two bombs down the stretch: An eagle on 16 from off the green and a 30-footer on 18 for birdie to cap off an impressive 7-under 65. Westwood is looking for his third PGA Tour win and first since 2010.

Quick Hitter Round 3 Stat Recap

It’s hard to gain seven strokes on the field in a day and not be pretty on point with every facet of the game. Westwood was exactly that in Round 3, gaining strokes in all four strokes gained categories. Others to do that were:

  • Keegan Bradley
  • Doug Ghim
  • Tyrrell Hatton (again)
  • Kristoffer Ventura
  • Kevin Kisner
  • Branden Grace

General Strategy and Arnold Palmer Invitational PGA DFS Picks

Today the morning started off with brisk temperatures, and it was rather breezy. Then it led it up for good parts of the day until little swells would come in. Tomorrow there will be a consistent wind 18 to 23 mph, and it’s already started tonight here in Tampa. Expect score averages to creep up in tomorrow’s final round. Also, remember that points are allocated to the players for their finishing position tomorrow.

PGA DFS Picks for Round 4 of the Arnold Palmer Invitational

  • Tommy Fleetwood ($9,000): Having gotten better all week, Fleetwood’s game looks to be getting better, save for just one slip up with the irons today. Still looking for his first PGA Tour win and sitting just 3 back, he’ll be able to post a number for those in front of him to look at. Coincidentally, Spieth will be his playing partner tomorrow. My heart is telling me we will get the winner out of this twosome tomorrow. I’ll be stacking them and flipping a coin between DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy.
  • Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($8,100: While today’s conditions weren’t easy, tomorrow’s are going to be harder. I want to lean on these guys that I know have an elite short game; Bezuidenhout, Brendon Todd, Ian Poulter, Andrew Putnam, those are the guys I’m looking at for tomorrow’s round.
  • Jazz Janewattananond ($6,700): Janewattananond and Doug Ghim present the best value in terms of golfers that are currently in the top 10, so I expect them to be rather chalky. But I love betting on a guy that has absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. He has no status on the PGA Tour, and since topping out at 38th in the world, he hasn’t had a good run. But one day can change all of that.

Sneaky PGA DFS Pick for Round 4

  • Andrew Putnam ($7,100): Putnam is one of those guys that has the ability to be saved by the short game. He is also in good form, with a fifth-place finish last week. There is no reason to bet against him, with all the signs and conditions pointed in the right direction.

DraftKings and FanDuel Arnold Palmer Invitational Lineup Fill-Ins

  • Jason Day ($8,500)
  • Lanto Griffin ($8,900)
  • Jason Kokrak ($8,800)
  • Chris Kirk ($7,900)
