Golf Betting: PGA picks for the Sanderson Farms Championship (FREE)

Ben Rasa

PGA DFS picks this week DraftKings fantasy golf projections FanDuel DFS PGA fantasy predictions best bets 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson

Swing season continues with the Sanderson Farms on deck from Jackson, Mississippi. The tournament should be excited to get a week to themselves after usually being an Alternative Field event in recent years. There is a huge Euro tournament with much bigger names, but from a betting perspective this event is wide open for a big price to get in the mix. With so many new faces and lack of top end talent we can dig into some lesser known names and look for a big score. Let’s get into some PGA picks and Euro Tour golf picks for all your golf betting needs!

Futures / Outrights Winners

Scottie Scheffler 25-1

Everyone in the world it seems is on Scheffler this week, so this does kind of feel like a fish spot. However we saw last week how ready Scheffler is to compete on tour where he led the field tee to green at Greenbrier finishing in 7th.

He comes to a course he played in last year and finished 45th at which doesn’t exactly get the juices flowing. However listen to this: last year at this event Scheffler gained 10.6 strokes tee to green and lost 9.4 putting. Losing almost ten strokes putting in a single event is one of the more insane things I’ve ever heard and it’s clear that is what prevented him from immediately getting in the mix. I’m not saying Scheffler is now a great putter, but that won’t be happening this week so this is a guy who is a major contender during the swing season with how well he is striking the ball.

Aaron Wise 40-1

It was a weird 2018-19 season for Wise who was unable to add another W to the resume. He did however make the cut in all four majors which is a huge accomplishment and speaks to the talent we are dealing with. Still in this field he is one of the most talented players and the odds although not huge are appealing ~40-1.

He can utilize driver around here and has positive Bermuda putting splits so the course could be one that fits his eye. There is no doubt it’s a matter of If not when Wise adds a second victory and the swing season is the best spot to jump on before the fields strengthen or he breaks thru and the odds adjust.

Top-10 PGA Bets

Matt Jones +800 Top 10

Matt Jones had a quality run of golf earlier in the year before falling on tough times missing four of his last five cuts to end the season. He got a jump start on 2019-20 finishing 10th last week at Greenbrier and gaining 8.5 strokes tee to green which is a huge positive sign.

Now, Jones comes to a course that he has had zero success at (0/3 on making the cut) , but that I think fits his game just fine. He prefers Bermuda grass, is a good OTT player and can take advantage of these par 5’s giving him opportunities in a field of this caliber. I think the lack of course history can be a positive in some ways in the sense it kept this number reasonable and on the DFS side may deter some people from playing him.

Valero is an event that has some similarities to Sanderson Farms and Jones has made the cut there four out the last five times he’s played there. At 8/1 for a Top 10 I am willing to back the form we saw last week at the Greenbrier and hope that Jones gets dialed in on these Bermuda greens which is what you need to do to compete here.

Top-20 Euro Bets

Maximillian Kieffer +750 Top 20  (BMW Wentworth Euro Tour)

Little crossover as I mentioned earlier there is a massive Euro tournament this week at the BMW Wentworth in England. Unlike the Sanderson Farms, this field is loaded with guy like Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Justin Rose ready to play and leading a strong field from top to bottom. However that doesn’t mean some Euro only players can’t hang around and if you want an extreme dark horse look no further than Maximillian Kieffer.

Your first question is and probably should be who is Maximillian Kieffer? That’s a fair ask and the answer is he is a German golfer who plays on the Euro tour and still is looking for that first Euro tour win. He is very accurate off the tee and relies on the short game to keep him afloat, which could come in handy around Wentworth as it demands accuracy off the tee.

One positive is that he has found the weekend in 3 of the last 4 appearances at the BMW Wentworth which is impressive. Getting 7.5/1 on a guy for a top 20 that has the proper skillset at a course he has made the cut at is a spot I’m willing to splash on despite him certainly being a little outclassed by the top end of this field

Good luck everyone!
