Arnold Palmer Invitational Fantasy Golf Picks

PGA DFS Picks: $9,000+

  • 12 Golfers
  • Total ownership of around 180%

This price range has the smallest number of players to choose from in quite some time, with the 12 golfers generating ownership of 180%. No golfer will get under 9% owned, giving us a pretty fair and equal pricing distribution by DraftKings this week. Viktor Hovland’s form over the past three months is quite possibly the best in the world, with four straight top-sixes after his less-than-stellar start at the Tournament of Champions. With all of that, he will likely be the highest-owned player on the slate. Also getting above 20% in this range will be Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau, as the perceived talent and win equity seems to be much more appealing in these golfers than it does the rest in this range.

There is only one golfer left of the 12 here that I suspect will push 20% owned in some contests: Tyrrell Hatton. He will be in a similar ownership range as Sungjae Im and Paul Casey. That leaves us with five golfers left who should all be owned around 10% this week, with Patrick Reed being the highest owned among them.

Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood are two of the more popular names in the game of golf, but not this week. Both are projected to come in under 10%. I think they provide perfect leverage in lineups where you don’t want to roster one of the studs. Not only will you get leverage by not rostering one of them, but you also gain it by going to these two guys in the same lineup.

PGA DFS Picks: Nos. 12-33 Priced Golfers ($7,500-$8,900)

  • 22 Golfers
  • Total ownership 210%

With the lower number of golfers in the higher-price section, the value section gets loaded up this week — 22 golfers with total ownership of around 210%. Francesco Molinari (a former champion of the event) and Jason Kokrak will be the two golfers that get over 20% from this range. Billy Horschel, Louis Oosthuizen and Sam Burns will push 20% as well, but in larger-field contests they will likely come in closer to 15%.

Once the salary drops off from 8,000 this week, there isn’t another golfer in the entire field that’s projected to be more than 10% owned. That is not something we typically see, especially last week where five golfers came in over 10%. So now it’s just about following your intuition on who the slate’s best plays are. Here are a few names I’ll click on this week:

  • Justin Rose
  • Lanto Griffin
  • Rickie Fowler
  • Christiaan Bezuidenhout

With this course having a lot of emphasis off the tee, gamers aren’t quite ready to give Bezuidenhout a fair share of their allocation. That won’t be the case with me, as I think this course suits Bezuidenhout quite well, especially given the weather expectations of the weekend.

PGA DFS Picks: The Rest ($7,400 and Below)

  • 89 golfers
  • Total ownership 210 %

Not one golfer priced below $8,000 is going to get over 10% this week. Golfers that will challenge it, though, are Wyndham Clark, Emiliano Grillo, Keith Mitchell, Brendon Todd, Corey Conners, Nick Taylor, Matt Jones and Chris Kirk. Some of these guys will just creep over 5% owned. So if you see someone you like on that list, don’t be afraid to roster them due to chalk.

Still, there are plenty of other golfers I like from this range. All of them are coming in at or under 5% owned. Here are a few that I’m interested in this week:

  • Cameron Champ
  • Erik van Rooyen
  • Robert MacIntyre
  • Will Gordon
  • Adam Long
