With the NFL and NBA in full swing, the Millionaire Maker for PGA DFS is on the back burner, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t life-changing amounts of money to be won and interesting PGA DFS picks to be made. This week the tour heads back to the mainland U.S. to Palm Springs, Calif. for the American Express. There will be 156 players teeing it up, so we’ll have plenty of options with which to go against the grain in DraftKings PGA and FanDuel PGA contests.

PGA DFS + Fantasy Golf Player | DraftKings + FanDuelÂ
PGA DFS Picks: $9,000+
- 11 Golfers
- Total ownership of around 200%
The projected build sequence is trending a bit more top-heavy this week, as this expensive group gets 200% total ownership across 11 golfers. This is the highest projected exposure to this group this year. 60% of that 200% will be allocated to just two golfers, Scottie Scheffler and Patrick Reed. The two provide great building blocks for lineups and should be pretty good chalk. Also crossing the 20% mark this week is Patrick Cantlay, who saw his ownership triple after Jon Rahm had to withdraw from the tournament. A few other golfers will be highly owned as well, including Russell Henley, Tony Finau, Sungjae Im and Abraham Ancer.Â
With several ownership bubbles this week, we are trending towards three golfers with under 10% projected ownership: Matthew Wolff, Rickie Fowler and Brooks Koepka. Koepka is a price thing for gamers who are not willing to trust him at inflated levels, preferring to take the savings by going to Finau and Reed, who have outperformed Koepka strongly over the last year. For Wolff it seems that course history and recency bias are moving almost all of the shares here to Scheffler, who does have a bit of a price discount as well. The last man is Fowler. Right now he’s in Jordan Spieth territory, as his last top-10 came at this event a year ago. With just 3% public ownership, how can you not try to get to at least 10%?

Wolff is an easy pick for me here. I love it when he’s lower owned at this price level because it breeds very high upside variance. This could play similarly to Detroit, when Wolff was around the same price and ownership and wound up losing only to Bryson DeChambeau. I hope the same happens here with Cantlay.

- 22 Golfers
- Total ownership 187.5%
With a heavier emphasis on the higher-priced golfers, this group’s popularity suffers a bit. Not one golfer is going to draw over 20% exposure, while we should have around eight of them get between 12 and 18%. The highest ownership shares are going to John Huh, followed by Adam Long and Joel Dahmen, who are both projected around 15%. Others in this range getting over 10% are Cameron Tringale, Charley Hoffman, Charles Howell, Brian Harman and Patton Kizzire.Â
Another 14 golfers in this section will give us plenty of options to go against the grain. One of the more intriguing golfers on the slate is Gary Woodland, who has been battling through a host of injuries lately, to terrible results. Eventually Woodland will be healthy and competitive again, but who knows when that will be? He is a GPP dart throw of a play.
Buyer beware on Woodland, that’s for sure. Adam Hadwin also presents an overpriced, low-owned golfer that has found a ton of success at The American Express and PGA West resort.
PGA DFS Picks: The Rest ($7,400 and Below)
- 121 golfers
- Total ownership 210%
With the added golfers in the field, it should be no surprise that we have the largest pool of players to choose from below $7,400. There are more than 120 golfers are in this tier, and only five of them should get over 10% public ownership:
- Cameron Tringale
- Charley Hoffman
- Sepp Straka
- John HuhÂ
- Mark HubbardÂ
Still, with plenty of quality golfers left to pick from (most of them under 5% owned), we can find value with one of:
- Hudson Swafford
- Kyle Stanley
- Austin Cook
- Chesson Hadley
- Byeong Hun An
- Patrick Rodgers
- Camilo Villegas
- Max Homa
- Andrew Landry

Swafford has come on strong these last two weeks in Hawaii and is a former winner. Stanley also flashed form last week, but I don’t know if he can make enough putts to give himself a chance at a top-10 this week. Most of the other names on that low-owned list will be in my player pool.
