Beyond the great fields that major championships always produce, they also produce the biggest daily fantasy golf contests on the planet. With three buy-in levels to choose from this week, the PGA DFS Millionaire Maker is back on DraftKings for The US Open. Starting at just $10 for the low-dollar DFS golf buy-in, turning $10 into a million can’t be found many other places. Not even with DOGE coin. So, let’s find some low-owned daily fantasy golf picks and take down the top prizes on DraftKings and FanDuel.
When going up against 250,000 other entries, you need to have lower-owned players that make an impact. With so many unknowns in the field this week, it’ll be difficult to find a quality range of golfers that are less than 5% owned. Of course, just finishing in the top 1o at a US Open is important within itself.

DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Golf Picks for The US Open
$9,000 and Above
- 12 Golfers
DraftKings condensed the pricing board a bit, as only Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth have really stood out from the field lately. However, Spieth’s price and perceived course fit will likely have him as the lowest-owned golfer above $9,000. Those that believe course fit is irrelevant, and that recent form is a better indication of long-term success, will be thrilled to see that ownership. I’m looking squarely in the mirror here.
Xander Schauffele is on the opposite spectrum, and rightfully so. He was runner-up here earlier in the season and hasn’t finished outside the Top-10 in four US Open appearances. He’s also significantly cheaper than Rahm or Spieth and starts to pay off his salary somewhere around the Top-10, which would be a disappointment for Schauffele given his form and lengthy history on the course.
Believe it or not, though, Schauffele could be the only one above $9K to get above 20% owned this week with the ownership spread evenly. Outside of Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, all of the other eight golfers have 14-18% projected ownership this week.
Top Against the Grain Fantasy Golf Picks
If Johnson, Koepka or Spieth win this week, having them in your lineup is going to get you at least one step closer to $1 million. Nevertheless, we need at least one top-five finish to get back value given their pricing. I like all of them this week and will likely try and get at least 15% of all three in the $10 Millionaire Maker this week.

Mid-Range ($8,900-$7,500)
- 23 golfers
You don’t have to go far down the salary board to find the next golfer projected over 20% ownership this week. Coming in at $8,900 with seven straight top-25s at Torrey Pines, it’s Tony Finau. It’s clear that gamers are looking for that experience around here and matching that up with price, as he and Xander will likely be the most stacked combo all week. They don’t require a ton of combined salary and a ton of top-10 equity.
But, outside of Finau, he’ll be the last golfer above $8K that’s under over 20%. The next fantasy golfer that many gamers are clicking on first this week is Shane Lowry. At $7,600, he’s still slightly below the average price per player remaining after rostering Finau/Schauffele. Tyrrell Hatton could also eclipse that 20% mark by Thursday morning and in specific contests, we could even look to Matthew Fitzpatrick and Jason Kokrak. Then there’s a bit of a drop-off to the next batch of players with all of the following golfers owned in the 13-17% range.
- Webb Simpson
- Will Zalatoris
- Scottie Scheffler
- Daniel Berger
- Louis Oosthuizen
- Cameron Smith
- Paul Casey
- Joaquin Niemann
Then there will be four golfers that will be owned between 10-13% this week; they are
- Hideki Matsuyama
- Corey Conners
- Justin Rose
- Abraham Ancer

If you are looking to get leverage in this price section, there should be at least five options. Of them, my favorites are Sungjae Im and Gary Woodland.
The Rest ($7,400 and Below)
- 120+ Golfers
Only two golfers below $7,500, Charley Hoffman and Garrick Higgo, are getting a ton of attention. The latter has put together some of the best golf in the world over the last couple of months, winning three times, twice on the European Tour and once on the PGA Tour. Hoffman hasn’t had the winning success as Higgo but has put together one of his best seasons in quite a while. Both seem like very good fantasy golf picks here in the low $7Ks and certainly provide some flexibility in the lineup.
There are a handful of other golfers that are also getting a few looks this week, but likely not above 10% in most contests, and they are:
- Harris English
- Adam Scott
- Marc Leishman
- Brian Harman
- Max Homa
- Stewart Cink
