DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy GOlf Picks for Valspar Championship lineups this week based on Awesemo's ownership projections, rankings and contrarian GPP rosters with Scottie Scheffler

Ownership plays a pivotal role in creating the perfect Fantasy Golf GPP lineup. Sometimes it’s the 5%-owned diamonds in the rough that make all the difference, and sometimes it’s those 7 to 10% golfers that not everyone wants to play for whatever the reason. Either way, each week in every GPP-winning lineup there’s at least one golfer that would fit those categories. This article will go over the golfers in three distinct pricing sections, a couple of the best against-the-grain picks and the projected ownership for the week. Let’s get into some of the top fantasy golf picks on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Valspar Championship.

Fantasy Golf Picks for the Valspar Championship

PGA DFS Picks: $8,900 and Above

  • 14 Golfers

After last week’s odd format, the PGA Tour returns to a normal, 72-hole stroke-play event with 156 golfers in the field. There are 13 golfers priced above or at $9,000 because of the large field. One of the hottest golfers in the world over the past month or so has been Corey Conners, who has a good statistical fit at the Copperhead Course. That is coming with possibly the highest-owned golfer of the week — somewhere north of 20% according to the Awesemo daily fantasy golf ownership projections. He will be the only golfer over $9,000 to eclipse that mark, with Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Sungjae Im and Russell Henley lagging slightly behind.

There is a bit of a drop in ownership going down to Patrick Reed, Paul Casey, Louis Oosthuizen, Joaquin Niemann and Abraham Ancer. Awesemo’s PGA DFS ownership projections have them all around 10% owned this week, leaving just Viktor Hovland, Scottie Scheffler and Bubba Watson as golfers that could be under 10% owned this week.

Watson is certainly intriguing, his game looked way out of sorts at times last week at the Zurich. Maybe that comes with the format a bit, but his results other than last week haven’t been all that stellar. Look to give him around 10 to 15% exposure in GPP lineups for some easy leverage. Pair him up with his partner from last week in Scheffler, and then add any four golfers in the field. This strategy allows for playing the easy, lower-priced chalk while gaining leverage through the top-end golfers.

PGA DFS Picks: Mid-Range ($8,800-$7,500)

  • 22 golfers

If Conners doesn’t come in as the highest-owned golfer this week, then it will likely be either Chris Kirk or Jason Kokrak. Each of them has had a great season, and this tournament was Kokrak’s breakout party, as he finished second a couple year ago. Since that tournament, he has finished in the top 25 in over 50% of his events. Kirk, coming off of a long battle with some tough diseases, has gone from 522nd in the world just shy of a year ago to 62nd. That’s incredibly impressive, and it’s no secret why he and Kokrak are popping so high in the Awesemo daily fantasy golf ownership projections this week.

They will be the only ones that touch that 20% number this week, and Justin Rose, Charley Hoffman, Ryan Palmer, Cameron Tringale, Emiliano Grillo, Keegan Bradley, Lucas Glover and Kevin Streelman should all be in the 10-15% range, per Awesemo’s PGA DFS ownership. That is a lot of ownership coming from just 11 golfers. With 12 left in the price range, there should be plenty of chances to get a golfer at or under 10% this week, including:

  • Max Homa
  • Kevin Na
  • Talor Gooch
  • Sam Burns
  • Gary Woodland
  • Adam Hadwin
  • Erik van Rooyen
  • Branden Grace
  • Cameron Davis

Sam Burns and Cameron Davis have the most scoring upside, but Davis really struggled in Florida during the last swing. Talor Gooch checks in with the highest PGA DFS projection this week at 50.2 projected points.

PGA DFS Picks: The Rest ($7,400 and Below)

  • 120 Golfers

Out of 120 golfers in this section, only one of them has projected ownership of over 10%: Lanto Griffin. If playing on FanDuel, it’s going to be even higher given that he is priced at $7,500. He has the highest PGA DFS point projection of 49.3, with the next-closest competitor, Doug Ghim, checking in a full 1.5 points lower. The aforementioned Ghim leads a handful of players that may push towards the 10% ownership mark this week. A few others on that list include:

  • Sam Horsfield
  • Ian Poulter
  • Mackenzie Hughes
  • Alex Noren
  • Zach Johnson
  • John Huh
  • Sepp Straka
  • James Hahn
  • Ryan Moore

Outside of them, there aren’t any other golfers with a projection of over 5%. Since there are still well over 100 golfers to choose from, here are a few that should make some lineups this week:

  • Charl Schwartzel
  • Henrik Stenson
  • Richy Werenski
  • Danny Willett
  • Brandt Snedeker
  • Tom Hoge
  • Luke List
  • Keith Mitchell
  • Rasmus Hojgaard

Of those golfers, Tom Hoge has the most appeal given his projected point total of 45.9, per the Awesemo PGA DFS projections.
