While the Millionaire Maker for PGA DFS is still on the back burner, that doesn’t mean life-changing amounts of prize money are lacking in DraftKings and FanDuel tournaments, and interesting fantasy golf picks are all over the board this week. In fact, this week we have a contest that is offering $200,000 to first with $750,000 guaranteed. There will be 132 players teeing it up at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, so we’ll have plenty of options with which to go against the grain in DraftKings PGA and FanDuel PGA contests.

Waste Management Phoenix Open Fantasy Golf Picks
PGA DFS Picks: $9,000+
- 12 Golfers
- Total ownership of around 200%
While the mid-range may not be as strong as last week, the top end of this tournament is definitely improved. Patrick Reed and Tony Finau are replaced by Justin Thomas and Webb Simpson up top, which seems like a pretty good trade in terms of the strength of field. The top 12 golfer salaries in DraftKings PGA tournaments are accounting for about a third of the total ownership, which is primarily concentrated on the top five golfers by price. All of them are projected for more than 20% public exposure, including Jon Rahm, who seems to have been name-clicked the most at the early parts of this week. The popular golfer projects for over 30% ownership. Thomas isn’t far off either, coming in right at 29%, with McIlroy, Schauffele and Simpson coming in right around 20%. Daniel Berger should also creep into the 20% range, with the rest of the price tier being quite low owned.
In fact, there are five golfers that we expect to be at or under 10% public exposure: Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Scottie Scheffler, Will Zalatoris and Ryan Palmer.
Top Against the Grain PGA DFS Picks for the Waste Management
Palmer’s price continues to creep up and up, and I’m having a hard time clicking his name over some of those other bolded PGA DFS picks, but I am very interested in the other four. Im has been close, Scheffler has had two awful missed cuts, and Zalatoris is seen as expensive, keeping them all under the radar and getting them into my lineups.

- Total ownership 160%
For the first time all year, this price section does not have a single golfer projected to be over 14% owned. In a tier with 20 golfers among our available PGA DFS picks, that is significant, as this group is comprised of several high-end choices. Sam Burns is coming off of a Sunday that started with a four-putt; things were unlikely to end well when that happened. However, he comes into this week in good ball-striking form, so it’s no surprise to see him rather highly owned among this group. Also creeping up there will be Corey Conners, whose consistent play makes his name relatively easy to click. Beyond those two golfers, only a handful of others are projected to be at or over 10% exposure:
- Cameron Champ
- Billy Horschel
- Bubba Watson
- Brian Harman
- Max Homa
- Carlos Ortiz
- Henrik Norlander
- Si Woo Kim
That leaves us plenty of options to get a golfer under 10%. The top PGA DFS picks in that range this week include both Gary Woodland and Russell Henley, and Jordan Spieth is likely to be under 5% owned every time he tees it up.
PGA DFS Picks: The Rest ($7,400 and Below)
- 118 golfers
- Total ownership 250%
There is not a lot of early projected ownership going to the 20 middle-priced golfers, which will inevitably move people down to this level as we approach Thursday. Typically we see under 200% total ownership going to golfers in this area, but not this week. There is a handful of golfers that will get over 10%, and then a bunch that will end up between 5 and 10%. Let’s start off with the golfers projected for more than 10% public exposure:
- Brendan Steele
- Byeong Hun An
- Patton Kizzire
Next will be the plethora of golfers that will be in the 5-10% range, including:
- Brendon Todd
- Rory Sabbatini
- Emiliano Grillo
- John Huh
- Luke List
- Adam Long
- Wyndham Clark
- Matt Jones
- Cameron Tringale
- Kevin Streelman
- Joel Dahmen
- Doc Redman
- Ryan Moore
With almost 100 golfers left in this section, you shouldn’t have a difficult time finding someone to get behind who is both cheap and low owned. For more of my top against-the-grain picks, check out my Top 5 PGA DFS Sleeper video on our YouTube channel.
