Fantasy Golf Picks for The Zurich Classic
PGA DFS Picks: $9,000 and Above
- 18 teams
This has undeniably been the hardest week to project anything when it comes to PGA DFS. Whether it is ownership, projections or just making a lineup, it is all very difficult. Those that like the challenge relish these opportunities. That doesn’t always guarantee a winning week, but it does create an edge that isn’t there during normal weeks. It comes as no surprise to gamers that have followed this event before that the team of Jon Rahm and Ryan Palmer will be the highest owned on the slate. Given that they are defending champions and aren’t the highest priced, they will be clicked the most.
Even though Patrick Cantlay’s form is quite questionable, he and Xander Schauffele are clearly the best team on paper. They will get close to 20% this week, as will the Norwegian duo of Viktor Hovland and Kristoffer Ventura. A nice blend of talent and reasonable price will lead to higher ownership. The same goes for team South Africa, Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen. Tony Finau and Cameron Champ fit this mold as well, though they are trending more towards the 15% mark this week. The last couple of teams team with the teammates coming from the same international country is Sungjae Im/Byeong Hun An and Cameron Smith/Marc Leishman, who will each get about 15% of the ownership this week.
A couple of other bigger names teaming up this week are Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson, who will be clicked in about 10% of lineups. Bubba Watson/Scottie Scheffler, Brendon Todd/Chris Kirk and Billy Horschel/Sam Burns will likely check in around 10% as well.
That leaves a hand full of teams that are projected to be owned under 10% this week, including:
- Collin Morikawa/Matthew Wolff
- Tom Lewis/Thomas Pieters
- Danny Willett/Tyrrell Hatton
- Max Homa/Talor Gooch
- Branden Grace/Harold Varner III
- Keegan Bradley/Brendan Steele
- Joel Dahmen/Lanto Griffin
Top Against the Grain Fantasy Golf Picks
Of those that are projected under 10% this week, Max Homa and Talor Gooch have the highest projection at 109.9 projected points. Morikawa/Wolff check in slightly behind them, and given that they are a full $1,400 more expensive, ownership should be very low on them. For those wanting a pure leverage play, it would be those two, but all of the teams on that bulleted list are solid play. Try to have at least one in GPP lineups this week.

PGA DFS Picks: Mid-Range ($8,900-$7,500)
- 16 golfers
There are 16 teams in this section and now 34 of the 80 teams priced above $7,500. In a typical field, at least 100 of the 144 golfers are typically priced below $7,000, or just about 69% of the field, where as this week there are only 41 total teams, just about half of the field. Of these 16 teams, one team is far and away going to be the highest owned in this range and could be the highest owned team on the slate: Pat Perez and Jason Kokrak. They will dominate the ownership here.
No other team is projected to above 20%, with Matthew NeSmith/Chase Seiffert getting the closest at 15%. A couple of other teams will come in around 15% as well: Doug Ghim/Justin Suh and Erik van Rooyen/Wyndham Clark. Then there will be a couple of teams that get around 10%, including Maverick McNealy/Joseph Bramlett, Roberto Castro/Cameron Tringale, Michael Thompson/Will Gordon and Russell Knox/Brian Stuard. That’ll leave us eight teams going under 10% owned this week. Some of the top ones include:
- Matt Wallace/Graeme McDowell
- Dylan Frittelli/Kevin Streelman
Top Against the Grain Fantasy Golf Picks
Wallace and McDowell carry a PGA DFS projection of 98.8 points this week, which puts them higher than those in the same pricing like Rose/Stenson, who are trending on being higher owned.
PGA DFS Picks: The Rest ($7,400 and Below)
- 47 total teams
There is still plenty of ownership being allocated to this pricing section, but that has more to do with the difficult pricing than the plays being optimal. There are around 13 teams this week that will get over 10% owned. On a typical week in this price section, normal would be three or four. The highest-owned name this week is likely the team of Tom Hoge and Beau Hossler. Hoge has had a great year but has putted horribly, and Hossler has that talent but not much else. Others getting over 10% this week are:
- Brandt Snedeker/Keith Mitchell
- Sepp Straka/Josh Teater
- Martin Laird/Nick Taylor
- Richy Werenski/Peter Uihlein
- Tyler Duncan/Adam Schenk
- Mark Hubbard/Sebastian Cappelen.
- Brice Garnett/Scott Stallings
That still leaves plenty of teams that will be under 10%. A few worth noting this week are:
- Andrew Putnam/Scott Harrington
- Rasmus Hojgaard/Vaughn Taylor
- Martin Trainer/James Hahn
Of those three teams, Putnam/Harrington have the highest-projected points at 87.4 this week. Check out the full set of daily fantasy golf projections here.
