Finding the right mix of low-owned golfers and chalk is critical when making your fantasy golf picks this week. With 160 players and 80 teams in the field at this week’s PGA Tour event at TPC Louisiana, there will be plenty of opportunities to find golfers that not many gamers know about and create the edge necessary to score big at the 2022 Zurich Classic. For this week’s tournament, let’s break down some of the best against-the-grain fantasy golf picks on DraftKings and FanDuel.

- 10 teams
There is a little change from last year’s event, where the top teams were priced much higher and forced gamers to build more balanced. But this year the salary of these top teams has come down significantly, resulting in higher ownership. In fact, none of the 10 teams right now have projected ownership of less than 10%, which is a rarity. Still, there is some dispersion among them. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele have been vocal about their friendship and are teaming up in the event for the third straight time. Cantlay is also coming off of a second-place finish at the RBC Heritage, showing his form is returning. Those couple of facts could lead to 30% or more ownership, especially in the more limited entry fields. Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa certainly have the most appealing duo of any team in the field and have been friends for some time. They could push the 30% mark as well in some contests, but likely not as high as the Cantlay/Schauffele pairing.
It is not much of a step down in terms of ownership to the Sam Burns and Billy Horschel pairing, as they play together for the second straight year. After a top-five finish in the event last year, the duo will return to the bayou looking for a win. They, along with the teams of Shane Lowry with Ian Poulter and Tommy Fleetwood with Sergio Garcia, will also carry 20% or higher ownership this week.
Then there is a pretty decent drop-off to the next batch of teams, with only the Chilean team of Joaquin Niemann and Mito Pereira getting close to 20%. The other teams will likely be owned between 10% and 15%:
- Marc Leishman/Cameron Smith
- Scottie Scheffler/Ryan Palmer
- Talor Gooch/Max Homa
- Harold Varner III/Bubba Watson
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
Defending champions of the event Leishman and Smith certainly seem appealing, especially after Smith had his notorious letdown after a big event at the RBC last week. Homa and Gooch are also playing very well this year and should be targeted at this ownership. The biggest question will be, can No. 1 golfer in the world Scottie Scheffler carry Ryan Palmer all week and earn his third straight victory?

- 22 Teams
With so much ownership going to the top 10 teams, a total of over 200% and 70 teams left, there are not a ton of teams that will get over 10% ownership this week. In fact, only eight of the 70 teams left garner that much ownership, with six of them coming from this price range:
- Joseph Bramlett/Maverick McNealy
- Tyrrell Hatton/Danny Willett
- Byeong Hun An/Sungjae Im
- Keegan Bradley/Brendan Steele
- Adam Hadwin/Adam Svensson
- Alex Noren/Henrik Norlander
- Russell Knox/Brian Stuard
That leaves over 15 teams to choose from that will carry less than 10% ownership. Some more than others earn between 7% and 10% this week:
- Davis Riley/Will Zalatoris
- Chris Kirk/Brendon Todd
- Keith Mitchell/Brandt Snedeker
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout/Charl Schwartzel
- Troy Merritt/Robert Streb
- Wyndham Clark/Cameron Tringale
Eight teams should be owned under 7% this week:
- Graeme McDowell/Seamus Power
- Patton Kizzire/J.T. Poston
- Greyson Sigg/Sepp Straka
- Justin Rose/Henrik Stenson
- Martin Laird/Robert MacIntyre
- Doug Ghim/Matthias Schwab
- Jason Day/Jason Scrivener
- Beau Hossler/Sahith Theegala
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
All of the teams could have a case made that makes them playable this week, especially the last three on the list. Of these eight teams, Team Day/Scrivener has the highest projection with 87.2 projected points. Click here for the entire field’s projections.

- Brice Garnett/Scott Stallings
- Tom Hoge/Paul Barjon
- Adam Long/Bo Hoag
- Kevin Chappell/James Hahn
