Final Round PGA DFS Picks for the American Express Round 4 DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups

The American Express has begun in La Quinta, Calif., and the low scores continued in Round 3. The winds weren’t as strong as expected and allowed players to continue to shoot scores in the mid to low 60s. The final round gives us plenty to look forward to, with DraftKings offering up a PGA DFS slate best of $20,000 to first place.

PGA DFS Golf Picks: The American Express Round 4

Round 3 Recap

The big story of the day heading into round three was how much the wind would play a factor. Well, it mattered, as scoring was noticeably higher across the board. None of the three courses had an average of less than 70, and the Stadium Course, the course said to be the hardest of the bunch, actually played the easiest today. Lee Hodges and Paul Barjon are set for life-changing days tomorrow and sit atop of the leaderboard after both soothing below 66 on the PGA West course. Seamus Power also got himself into the mix, after a Saturday 66, one of only three other golfers to do break 67 today. The other two are Hudson Swafford and Luke List.

Best PGA DFS Golf Picks Today for DraftKings Showdown

A gentle breeze is expected for the final round tomorrow, which should allow golfers from plenty back to come from behind. 64 is the low at PGA West Stadium Course, where the final round will occur. With both Barjon and Hodges a bit untested on the PGA Tour, expect golfers that are five or so back to have a chance at winning those tomorrow. That conveniently brings Jon Rahm into the picture, who shot five-under today on the stadium course. Here are a few other targets for the final round.

  • Harold Varner ($7,800) A closing 32 on the stadium course this afternoon, including a four-hole bridie stretch, vaulted Varner up to the first page of the Leaderboard. While he’s had a great chance to win in the past, including the PGA Championship a few years back, given who’s in front of him, this could be his best chance to win on the PGA Tour. There’s no Brooks Koepka in front of him or Dustin Johnson tied with him entering the round. So while Cantlay and Rahm are lurking close, Varner has done everything but win a PGA Tour event; tomorrow is the day that changes.
  • Lanto Griffin ($7,600): A bad season last year for Griffin, who was riding high into it, winning the Houston Open, his first PGA Tour win, But after topping out at 49th in the world last March, Griffin has fallen outside of the top 100. That at least before his last four tournament stretch has him playing good golf again, including two top 10s. He looks to add a third top 10 here tomorrow in position for his best finish of the year.
  • Wyndham Clark ($6,800): A two month- seven tournament stretch saw Clark not earn one paycheck. A slide that cost him quite a bit of world ranking points, but luckily, he had done enough to make the playoffs and retain his PGA Tour card. Now, after going five for six in made cuts early in this season, Clark has a chance at his first top 10 of the year. His irons can be weak at times, but if he has them rolling, the rest of his game is good enough to make a charge on Sunday.
  • Francesco Molinari ($6,700): One of the loudest falls from grace has been seen from Francesco. At the height of his game, coming off an Open Championship victory, Francesco stood on the 12th tee at Augusta in the lead. A water ball would cost him dearly, and he really hasn’t recovered. A few good starts here and there, including last year at this event, Francesco is still searching for his top-end form. At these prices, however, top-end form isn’t required for a good return on investment; just something mediocre from him tomorrow would prove fruitful.
