The biggest prize in PGA DFS takes a break for just one more week, and there are still massive amounts of money to be won, including $200,000 to first place for the Valero Texas Open. This article will go through four distinct pricing categories and talk specifically about ownership among them. This will cover some of the best against-the-grain fantasy golf picks in each range for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Fantasy Golf Picks for the Valero Texas OpenÂ
PGA DFS Picks: $9,000 and Above
- 10 Golfers
- Total ownership of around 200%
With Dustin Johnson dropping out, this range is down to 10 golfers, and his ownership seems to have been spread throughout this range. Only Matt Kuchar projects under 10% this week, while Brendan Steele gets close to that number. Every other golfer, though, should get north of 15%. It will be about fading the right ones and stacking the others to create the difference this week. Chalk hitting is inevitable in a field like this, so it’s about playing the right chalk.
Top Against the Grain Fantasy Golf Picks
With not much to go against the grain with, a little Steele and Kuchar here makes sense, even pairing them together in some places where building very conservative lineups. Check out a couple of other leverage plays using Awesemo’s Top Golfers Tool.

As much chalk as there is in the price section above, there really isn’t any down below $9,000. Chris Kirk and Sam Burns are trending towards being two of the more popular plays in the range, but neither should get much higher than 20%. Charles Howell III joins a couple of others in the $8,000 range that will be owned just over 10%, including Zach Johnson, Keegan Bradley, Lanto Griffin and Cameron Davis. Harold Varner is on a good stretch of golf and will also creep into the 10% range, and the same goes for Branden Grace. Then there should be plenty of options to get golfers under 10%. A couple of names that are piquing interest this week include Gary Woodland, Aaron Wise, Phil Mickelson and Byeong Hun An.Â
Of the names mentioned above, Kirk is projected to score 70.9 points and has the highest projection of any player in this range. Check out the rest of the projections here.
