PGA DFS Picks Today: Round 3 Mexico Open DraftKings Fantasy Golf Picks & Predictions

The highest owned golfer ever in the main slate, as he should have been, takes the lead here at the Mexico Open thru two rounds. All those that ventured south of the border were looking for a chance to change their career, but it seems as though they’ll have to do it without winning, as Rahm is the clear-cut favorite heading into the weekend. But, in PGA DFS, it doesn’t take just one player to make a lineup, but six, as this article will provide some analysis on the first two rounds and a few picks for the third round and weekend slate.

Round 2 Recap

Morning Wave

Warm temperatures and not much wind were a welcome sight for these golfers this morning, as they dealt with stricter conditions on Thursday afternoon. But, the stars of the wave couldn’t get it going and looked as though they could all miss the cut. But, a late 60-foot bomb for birdie by Tony Finau and a late birdie by Abraham Ancer would sneak them thru to the weekend, after rounds of 68 and 69, respectively. Gary Woodland struggled with the putter for the second straight round, and while he’ll play the weekend, he backed up with a 73 in round two.

Doug Ghim and Emiliano Grillo would find form after an over-par round in round one, both shooting a six-under 65 on the day, joined by Davis Riley and Martin Trainer as the best score of the day, as the course played much harder on day two.

Afternoon Wave

After getting quite a break with the weather, this wave had a big head start on the other half of the field. All eyes would be on Rahm, who had another solid day out there, and the cut line. For much of the early part of the afternoon, it looked like a look that it would be -3, as it was t68 at one point. But then the wind picked up, and golfers dropped in a hurry, with the cut ending at -2 with 78 golfers making the cut. One of the largest all year. It brought the likes of Ancer, Matt Jones, Graeme McDowell, Austin Smotherman, Stephan Jaeger and more back into the tournament and around for the weekend.

Best PGA DFS Picks Today for The Mexico Open DraftKings Showdown

While no wind differences were reported before each round, it’s clear the morning wave had an advantage each day. Plenty of quality golfers will be teeing off around 930 tomorrow morning; that makes for solid round 3 plays.

Abraham Ancer ($10,200)

The second highest-priced golfer on the slate tomorrow is the furthest down the leaderboard, well, of anyone that made the cut…Surprisingly, holding Abe back over the first two rounds is his around the green work and not totally clicking with his irons. With the cut behind him, he can play a bit more freely and hopefully maintain a positive putting stroke and solid play off the tee.

Cameron Tringale ($9,300)

Another golfer that shouldn’t be too highly sought after, especially with all the big names in front of him on the leaderboard. Tringale stuck with his round today after not having it in the beginning and easily breezes into the weekend with a Friday 68. His irons clicked on that front nine, the staple of his game. Now, if his putter could wake up, he could move up the leaderboard in a hurry.

David Lipsky ($7,300)

With Alex Smalley($7,300) playing extremely well, he’ll garner a ton of attention in tomorrow’s slate. So, that should leave the door open for Lipsky, who’s playing well right now, making six out of his last seven cuts, including this week including a couple of top 10s on his card, to be lower owned. He’s on fire with his irons, gaining almost six strokes in two rounds. If his putter would just wake up a bit, he could fly up the leaderboard.

Other Low Owned Targets for PGA DFS Round 3 of the Mexico Open

  • Brandon Wu ($7,100)
  • Peter Malnati ($7,000)
  • David Skinns ($6,400)
