Whether it’s your first time reading or you’re a seasoned vet, this article covers GPP Players Championship picks for PGA DFS. It also breaks the field down into four price categories for FanDuel, DraftKings and Yahoo. The article is meant to be a guiding tool in creating variance in your lineups, which in turn, hopefully, can create an edge against the field.
Winning a GPP of any size is a difficult task, especially ones with 40,000-plus entries. Each of my big wins has come by going against the grain with some players and pairing them with the right chalk.
Millionaire Maker Review From Last Week
First, let’s take a look at the winning lineup PGA DFS Millionaire Maker lineup from last week:
Three golfers were under 10% owned, the first time that’s happened in over seven other Milly Maker contests. The total ownership of the lineup was in the low 60% range and was not duplicated. The lineup also used all $50,000 of the salary.
Now let’s turn our attention to how we did projecting the PGA DFS ownership percentages last week.
- Jason’s RSQ – 87.6%
- Awesemo – 86%
Picks Review
- Top-end pick: Bryson DeChambeau (fourth)
- Mid-level pick: Shane Lowry (MC)
- Low level: Christiaan Bezuidenhout (MC) and Harry Higgs (38)

PGA DFS Player Focus This Week
This week features 151 players (plus four previous champions that don’t count against the total field number) with the top 65 and ties making the cut.
$10,000 and Above
- Six Golfers
- Total ownership of 90%
Commentary
With such a stacked and tight leaderboard last week, DraftKings brought down Rory McIlroy‘s price quite a bit and brought up two more golfers above the $10,000 mark. While some may consider the pricing soft, I think it just presents the opportunity to play who you want where you want. McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are trending a couple of percent above the other four names in this section. In fact, all those other four names are likely to get in between 10-15% this week, with none of them going below 10%.
Top Against the Grain Plays
DeChambeau ended up below 10% last week, and now with another big price bump, I think he will stay right around the number. Collin Morikawa gets above $10,000 for the first time, and that could also bring his ownership down below 10%. Either of those two guys could be good plays in this section.
$8,000-$9,999
- 15 Golfers
- Total ownership of 186.1%
Commentary
It comes as no surprise to see Gary Woodland and Webb Simpson as two of the highest owned golfers of the slate, both approaching 20%. Simpson’s blunder last week will likely be overlooked by most gamers, as they had back to him for safety. Patrick Reed will join them above 15% as his price comes down $400, even after a top-five last week. Hideki Matsuyama and Tyrell Hatton, both skipping out last week, will be leading the next batch of golfers around 12-15% owned. After these guys, however, the ownership looks like it’s going to be very evenly spread out. No golfer will get under 9% owned, at least by my prediction, including Jordan Spieth. Abraham Ancer also gets a big price bump, up to $8,000 from $7,300 last week, and he will likely come in just shy of 10% this week. Tony Finau and week’s champion Daniel Berger could also trend below 10% this week.
Top Against the Grain Plays
This week I really think the options are almost unlimited, unless, of course, you’re trying to go triple on Simpson or Woodland. Below them, I think you can go 40% on any other golfer and get at least triple the field. Koepka is certainly intriguing at this point.

$7,000s

- Total ownership of 240%
Commentary
Corey Conners had it going for the first three days last week and now presents great value with upside from this section. That’s likely to lead to at least 10% ownership in PGA DFS lineups and possibly into the mid-teens like Ryan Palmer was last week. Ian Poulter has some great course history, as does Kevin Kisner. Matthew Fitzpatrick has mentioned this being one of his favorite courses on the PGA Tour, which should lead to 10% ownership on him and the other two golfers mentioned. Branden Grace fits this bill as well, winning here a few years ago. He showed a flash of form last week, as did Jason Kokrak, which likely will lead those two to 8-10% ownership. Sergio Garcia and Adam Hadwin are two names that should be owned around 8-10% as well, along with Jason Day, Byeong Hun An, Louis Oosthuizen, Viktor Hovland and Joel Dahmen.
Outside of those guys, you should get most of the other golfers in the field at 5% or less, including:
- J.T. Poston
- Bud CauleyÂ
- Rory Sabbatini
- Luke List
- Lucas Glover
- Harold Varner III
That still leaves plenty of golfers that will definitely be under 5% owned this week, including:
- Talor Gooch
- Cameron Smith
- Kevin Streelman
- Russell Henley
- Graeme McDowellÂ
Top Against the Grain Plays
With such spread out PGA DFS ownership this week, you should have plenty of choices this week. Bud Cauley from the first list and Kevin Streelman from the second will be a few targets of mine this week.
$6,000s
- 88 Golfers
- Total ownership of 76%
Commentary
We have seven additional golfers this week compared to last, for a total of 88, and 25% less total ownership. With salaries a little soft, the need to go deep diving isn’t as prevalent as it was last week. Still, there are a few names down here that are interesting, including Matthew Wolff, Ryan Moore, Vaughn Taylor, Russell Knox, Chez Reavie, Doc Redman and Kyle Stanley.Â
