PGA DFS is filled with tons of useful information, but at times it can be overwhelming. If this is your first time visiting the article, this statistical overview will focus on recent form, course history, strokes gained, and old-school statistics. I will provide notes and a data sheet with to help with your PGA DFS picks this week for DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy golf contests in each category. This week the focus is on the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf club.
PGA DFS Picks This Week: The Rocket Mortgage Classic
With only a couple of years of course history to work off of, it will be important to develop a profile of who has played well here and who is playing well right now.
Positive Recent Form
The run of four top-10s starting 11 weeks ago fell off for Garrick Higgo, but he remains the only golfer in the field with more than four top-10s in the last 11 weeks. However, he has missed the cut in each of the last two weeks. Troy Merritt is the only other golfer with at least three top-10s. Then a pack of golfers check in with multiple top-10s over the last 11 weeks, including Doc Redman, Keegan Bradley, Emiliano Grillo, Max Homa and Patton Kizzire. However, combined over the last three weeks, there have been zero top-10s and six missed cuts among them. Just Doc Redman made the cut last week, but he came in 61st.
Patrick Reed has struggled to find the winning form over this dataset, but when he played the weekend, which has been five out of the last seven times, he has come in the top 25. That is decent upside, especially if he makes an eagle or two and a couple birdie streaks. Charley Hoffman continues to earn paychecks as well, making the cut in all eight appearances over the last 11 weeks. He is one of only four golfers in the field with more than three starts to earn this feat. The other three are Bryson DeChambeau, Austin Eckroat and Hideki Matsuyama.
Beau Hossler is the only golfer other than Reed that has come in the top 25 in each of their last two starts.
Negative Recent Form
James Hahn had a nice stretch of golf in the beginning of the year, competing at the Waste Management and a few weeks later at the Genesis Invitational. But since then, it has been seven straight missed cuts. Richy Werenski, Cameron Champ, Tyler McCumber, Luke List and Patton Kizzire are the only other golfers that are coming into the week with at least three straight missed cuts.

Course History at Detroit Golf Club
Forty-eight golfers this week will be teeing it up for the third time at Detroit Golf Club, with 14 of them missing the cut in each of the first two years. Just 11 of the 48 have made the cut in both years, leaving 23 that have made one cut and missed one cut. Three of those 48 have come in the top 25 both times: Redman, Matsuyama and Sepp Straka.
Only 19 of the golfers playing this week have earned a top-10 in the first two years here. Others that have include DeChambeau, Webb Simpson and Joaquin Niemann, all of whom have a top-10 in their one start here. Other notables that have been able to earn a top-10 over the last two years here include Matthew Wolff, Kevin Kisner, Cameron Tringale, Ryan Armour, Ted Potter Jr. and Merritt.
Negative
Bubba Watson hasn’t found any success here in the last two years, missing the cut both times. Other big names that haven’t had any success here include Cameron Davis, Sebastian Munoz, Matt Jones and Kizzire. A couple of other names that have been playing well lately but have also missed the cut twice here include Hossler, Hank Lebioda and Sam Ryder.

Strokes Gained
This is a bomber-heavy course, one that can yield a ton of birdies with a hot putter. Of course, a good approach game won’t hurt anything, but around the green is the least important statistic this week.
