Expert Shriners Open Data & Stats for PGA DFS Picks on DraftKings & FanDuel

Having a variety of viewpoints and data points can be both a curse and a blessing. In this article, I sift through all the data and give you top picks from all four statistical angles that make up PGA DFS. The swing season continues with the Shriners Hospital for Children Open. TPC Summerlin has been the host for quite some time, and there has been plenty of professional golf over the last 12 weeks, giving us a complete data set.

PGA DFS Picks: The Shriners Open

Recent Form

Eight golfers have at least three top-10s over the last 12 weeks of golf, double what last week’s field had. Mito Pereira is the only one with four, adding another made cut last week, but he came in 31st. Sam Burns added his third in the previous week, as did Hayden Buckley and Sahith Theegala, marking their first PGA Tour top-10s. Both will skyrocket up the reshuffle rankings, guaranteeing them pivotal starts moving forward. PGA Tour veterans Kevin Na and Hideki Matsuyama are joined by Erik van Rooyen and Taylor Moore as the only golfers in the field with at least three top-10s in this timespan.

Corey Conners continued his impressive consistency over this timespan, coming in the top 25 seven of eight starts, including finishing 17th last week. He scored over 100 points at the Sanderson Farms and should be in a good spot with the significant price drop from last week’s pricing. Sungjae Im failed to play well enough over the weekend to tie Conners with seven top-25s over the previous 12 weeks, but he still has six in that time span, the same as Na and Pereira.

Lastly, Viktor Hovland, Abraham Ancer, Webb Simpson, Cameron Tringale and Joaquin Niemann have all played at least seven of the last 12 weeks and have made the weekend in each of them.

Negative Recent Form

Trey Mullinax and Cameron Young bucked their bad play trend last week, but they still lead with five missed cuts in the previous 12 weeks, joined in the field only by Bill Haas, Tyler McCumber, Wyndham Clark, Martin Trainer and Kyle Stanley.

Course History

There is plenty of history to work off this week in Vegas, as the tour has played at TPC Summerlin for a long time. Since 2015 nine golfers have teed it up every single year, with only two of them making the cut in all six: Nick Taylor and Webb Simpson.

Lucas Glover is the only golfer in the field this week to have come in the top 10 three times and in three straight appearances, starting with a third in 2017, followed by a seventh and a ninth the last two years. Nine others, including Simpson and Glover, have come in the top 10 twice here. Scotti Piercy is the only one to have come in the top 25 four times out of seven tries, while Chesson Hadley had done it three times out of six. The other seven golfers have all come in the top 10 twice and missed the top 25 in their other three starts.

Outside of Simpson and Taylor, there has not been much success here at finding the weekend consistently. Russell Knox and Charles Howell have made it in all four tries, Ryan Palmer, Luke List, Si Woo Kim, Brian Harman and Stewart Cink are 3-for-3, and Hideki Matsuyama and Rickie Fowler are 2-for-2.

Negative

Rory Sabbatini has not found that type of success at TPC Summerlin, missing the cut four times since 2015. Eight others have missed the cut three times since 2015, with the biggest name among them being Abraham Ancer.
