PGA DFS is filled with tons of useful information, but at times it can be overwhelming. The Awesemo golf team created a format to provide one condensed article that will analyze the four most important statistics for daily fantasy golf. This statistical overview will focus on recent form, course history, strokes gained and old-school statistics. I will provide notes and a data sheet to help with your PGA DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel contests in each category. This week the focus is on The Valero Texas Open.
PGA DFS Picks: Valero Texas Open
Recent Form
Spanning 11 weeks of action, four golfers have teed it up 10 times: Patrick Rodgers, Brian Stuard, Pat Perez and Xinjun Zhang. Â
It’s no surprise to see Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth projected as some of the highest-owned golfers by Awesemo this week (click here for the full field), as they are the only two golfers with four top-10s over the last 11 weeks. Scottie Scheffler, Andrew Putnam, Sam Ryder and Rafael Campos all come in with three.
Chris Kirk has been as consistent in his play over these past 11 weeks as anyone in the field, coming in with five top-25s, matching Spieth and Finau. Other consistent performers in this timespan include Cameron Tringale, Brendan Steele, Charley Hoffman, Abraham Ancer and Chase Seiffert, all of whom have four top-25s.
Hunter Mahan’s story continues to be told throughout the golfing world, but he is going to need something to change soon, having missed eight straight cuts over the last 11 weeks. Nick Watney and Luke Donald, along with Mahan, are the only golfers in the field to have at least five starts and no cuts made.

Course History at TPC San AntonioÂ
Tough golf courses always add to the variability of an event, and thus it is hard to find consistent performs. Take Ryan Palmer, for example, who is the only golfer in the field to accumulate three top-10s since 2014; he has missed his last two cuts. Spieth is 3-for-3, including two top-10s. He and Hoffman, who projects to score 74.4 points this week (click here to view the full set of projections), have the best course history here since 2014. Others that have played well include Matt Kuchar, Branden Grace, Ryan Moore, Kevin Chappell and Jimmy Walker, all with at least two top-10s in the time frame.

Strokes Gained
A big focus this week will be on off-tee games, as TPC San Antonio has some of the toughest fairways to hit on the PGA Tour. Utilizing a few strokes gained stats, the goal is to find a good statistical fit this week for the Valero Texas Open.
