PGA DFS is filled with tons of useful information, but at times it can be overwhelming. The Awesemo golf team created a format to provide one condensed article that will analyze the four most important statistics for daily fantasy golf. This statistical overview will focus on recent form, course history, strokes gained and old-school statistics. I will provide notes and a data sheet to help with your PGA DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel contests in each category. This week we’re focusing on The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
PGA DFS Picks:Â WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play
Recent Form
Paul Casey’s offseason program has elevated his game tremendously, as he’s the only golfer in the field to have five top-10s in the last 10 weeks, one of which was a win. His ball striking has been impressive and will be tough to overcome this week. Jon Rahm isn’t far behind either, having four top-10s in his last five starts, while Daniel Berger, Viktor Hovland and Tony Finau all check in with four top-10s. Eight others have three, including Jordan Spieth, Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy and Matthew Fitzpatrick. All of them hit that mark in their last five starts.
Only three golfers out of the 64 competing this week will be searching for their first top-25 in the last 11 weeks: Erik van Rooyen, Matthew Wolff and 2019 runner-up Matt Kuchar. That number extends to 15 golfers when looking at top-10s, as golfers like Bubba Watson, Ian Poulter, Adam Long and Hideki Matsuyama will be looking for their first in the last 11 weeks.

Course History at Austin Country ClubÂ
Consistency is one of the hardest things to have in professional golf. Add in the match play variable, and it’s almost impossible to find. In fact, not one golfer in the field has made it through to the Sweet 16 in each of the last four years. Louis Oosthuizen and Kuchar are the only ones to go 3-for-4. Nine others are 2-for-4, while Tyrrell Hatton is 2-for-3 in making it to the Sweet 16. Brian Harman is 1-for-1. Others that are 2-for-4 are McIlroy, Casey, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia and Kevin Na.Â

Strokes Gained
Peter Dye’s courses always challenge all aspects of the game, but primarily off the tee is vital to set up the second shot. Focusing on that this week should lead to more birdie opportunities, which are more important than ever in match play.

Old School Statistics for PGA DFS Analysis
Before strokes gained statistics were invented, the focus was on data like greens in regulation and driving distance/accuracy. The old standards can still help develop a player’s profile further, helping us identify potential strengths and weaknesses. I’ve chosen my five favorite old-school statistics for this week’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. Four of these will come from a corollary statistic to the strokes gained category. I’ve listed each golfer, along with their ranking in the statistical category.
