Upcoming Schedule & Opening Remarks

A two-week break for the PGA Tour, as they let the old season digest a bit, before turning around and starting the new season. The new season kicks off with five tournaments stateside, where we will see maybe one or two stars per week, and a bunch of newcomers from the Korn Ferry Tour will get a chance to earn their first PGA Tour win! After that, we head to Asia for three tournaments, including a new one in Japan headlined by Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy.

After a two week break, the tour ends the year with a two tournament set in November, one in Mexico and one in Sea Island Georgia. Then, an entire month + off before the season starts on 1/1 with the Tournament of Champions.  Here is the schedule of the content we will have for next week while the PGA Tour has the first part of the break.

Tournament Intro: Omega European Masters

This Week’s Course(s): Crans-Sur-Sierre

Course & Tournament Commentary

If you are new to the Euro game, be prepared for PGA DFS on steroids. 6/6 %’s are so low that if you have even one, no matter what it looks like, likely still has a chance. It also gets very chalky at the top, since there aren’t many golfers gamers know about since not much time is focused across the pond.

Also, if this is your first time playing, you’ve picked a good one to join on as Crans-sur-Sierreis a pleasant treat providing stunning views all week. It’s unlike any golf course we see over here in the States on the PGA Tour and offers a significant change of pace. It’s a rather short track playing probably close to 6,300 yards with the altitude, measuring just shy of 6,900, adjusting about 10% for that altitude.

The front side also has two back to back drivable par 4’s, both with trouble lurking, which provides the ultimate risk-reward scenario. The backside features back to back par 5’s, both reachable in two, providing for some fireworks late in the day. The course garners it’s protection if you want to call it that with the winning score approaching the high teens, comes from the small of the greens, thus making Greens In Regulation a little bit more critical.

DFS Sweatsheet

PGA DFS Preview

Pretty happy with the DraftKings Contests for this week, for Euro it’s not bad at all. A little top-heavy, but we play to win the game, after all.

Fantasy Golf Player & Statistical Preview

This space discusses the expected field and this week’s top-25 golfers based on the official world golf ranking for your fantasy golf, PGA DFS lineups.

Commentary

Fifteen Million richer, Rory McIlroy had at least previously committed. We’ll see if his massive win changes things, but even if they do, we still get about 25 golfers ranked in the top-100 in the world. Pretty solid for a Euro field. Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Wallace, and defending champion of the event Matthew Fitzpatrick are just a few of the other highlights in this stacked field.

Statistical Preview

Here is a look at last year’s top three stats tracked for this tournament: Driving Accuracy/Driving Distance/Greens In Regulations

Omega European Masters Commentary

It’s very interesting to see both Matthew Fitzpatrick and Lucas Bjerregaard at opposite ends of the driving grid, one through accuracy, one through distance, finish first and second in the tournament. They both, however, had one thing in common: greens in regulation. It was the most crucial statistic by far of the three, averaging almost nine finishing positions better than driving accuracy, and nearly 20 finishing positions than driving distance. Hideto Tanihara, Richard Sterne, Gavin Green, & Ryan Fox are the other golfers besides the first two mentioned that show up on two of these lists.

For now, that’s all. I’ll be updating the article the more info we get.

Until then,

Cheers!
