The Fit & Form Guide for the Charles Schwab Challenge | DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS

After playing a full 10 weeks to start the season, we’ve been on a 10-week hiatus. In that time, we’ve worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most important elements when building out lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the PGA DFS Fit & Form guide for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

The PGA Tour is back, and we have an exclusive 20% off of a PGA Annual Pass when you use PROMO CODE: SCHWAB.

That’s $200 for 365 days of Awesemo+ PGA DFS golf, which includes Lineup Builder, golfer projections, ownership projections, leverage scores and more! Use promo code SCHWAB at checkout to get your pass today. This offer is only valid through June 11!

Recent Form Since the Tournament of Champions

Opening Remarks

Since it’s been almost three months since competition, looking at recent form won’t be terribly helpful for our PGA DFS lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. But I think it’s still important to take a look at how the golfers had performed before the hiatus.

Positives

  • Bryson DeChambeau has competed eight times this year, and in those eight weeks, he finished in the top 10 six times. Only Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm have had at least five, while they’ve only competed five times and six times, respectively.
  • Three other golfers hold at least a 75% top-25 rate with at least four starts this year: Max Homa, Xander Schauffele and Jason Day. Collin Morikawa and Matt Kuchar are both 5-for-7 in top-25 finishes.
  • Only eight golfers have competed at least five times without missing a cut. Other than the ones already mentioned above, Marc Leishman, Dustin Johnson, Webb Simpson, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Sergio Garcia all have a 100% made cut rate this year.

Negatives

  • Former Champion at Colonial, Chris Kirk, has had a tough go of it this season, missing seven of his eight cuts. Jim Herman is also in that same boat, while Doug Ghim, Mackenzie Hughes and Tyler Duncan have missed six cuts.
  • Only Jim Furyk hasn’t made a paycheck since the turn of the new year, missing all three cuts.

Course History at Colonial since 2015

Opening Remarks

Colonial has been a permanent fixture on tour for quite some time, but since the PGA Tour and its participants are constantly changing, I figured five years was enough to look back on. Fourteen golfers in the field this week have competed in all five events held here since 2015, with only four of them making the cut each time. Forty-three golfers will be making their first appearance here at Colonial, including tournament-favorite Rory McIlroy.

Positives

  • Four golfers have made the cut in all five tries here: Jordan Spieth, Brian Harman, Danny Lee and Charley Hoffman.
  • Spieth leads with four top-10s in five tries, while Kevin Na and Kevin Kisner each have three. All three of these golfers also have a win. Only six other golfers have multiple top-10s outside of these three:rory  Brian Harman, Danny Lee, Ryan Palmer, Rory Sabbatini and Jon Rahm.
  • Kevin Tway, Russell Knox and Andrew Putnam are the only three golfers that have competed at least twice and have finished inside the top-25 in all of their starts.
  • Thirty-one golfers have competed here at least twice since 2015 and haven’t missed a cut. Some of the names I haven’t mentioned yet are Tony Finau, Adam Hadwin, Harrish English, Matt Kuchar, Chris Kirk and Brian Stuard.

Negatives

  • Former champion Keith Clearwater is the only golfer that hasn’t made a cut once in the last five years. J.J. Henry has missed four of five, while DeChambeau, Chez Reavie and Si Woo Kim have all missed three cuts in four tries.
  • Palmer is a total boom or bust here at Colonial missed two cuts in five tries, but also two top-10s in them as well.

Fit & Form

Now that we’ve covered both course history and “recent form,” let’s see if we can find any crossovers, either negative or positive:

  • Sergio Garcia hasn’t missed a cut this year and is also a past champion of the event, but that came all the way back in 2001. He last played here in 2017 when he finished 12th.
  • Although Jon Rahm missed the cut here last year, he had two top-fives prior to that and has also finished in the top 10 in five of his six events this year.
  • Xander Schauffele will try to buck the trend he’s had here at Colonial. He has missed two of three cuts, and finished 48th in the other try, yet has one of the best top-25 ratios this year. Something will have to give this week.
