The Fit & Form Guide BMW Championship l DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS Picks

During the 10-week hiatus, we worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most essential elements when building out PGA DFS lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the PGA DFS Fit & Form guide to make your PGA DFS picks for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel for the BMW Championship

Recent Form Since the Return of Play (Charles Schwab)

The return of the PGA Tour now feels like a distant memory, as these last 11 weeks have come fast and furious and without a break. There are two weeks left for the season’s best, however, as many of the PGA Tour Players get a two-week break but certainly not one they wanted. Ten weeks is typically a good barometer for recent form, so that will be our focus here for this tournament. Also, since we have no course history with maybe five golfers that played in the 2003 U.S. Open, this article may seem shorter than average, so I’ll add a couple of more graphics to beef it up.

Positives

Form can be, and certainly is to most, subjective. I like to look at at a 10-week, six-week and three-week time frame to check for consistencies or inaccuracies. Harris English has, undoubtedly, been the most surprising golfer in terms of average finish in over the last 10 weeks, as others like Daniel Berger, Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, Webb Simpson and Viktor Hovland are names we typically see around there. The names don’t change all that much the lower you go, although a few names like Alex Noren and Louis Oosthuizen have certainly picked up their play over the last three weeks.

Top 10s: Twenty-eight golfers now have multiple top 10s in the last 10 weeks. Simpson joins Jason Day and Bryson DeChambeau as the only three golfers with four top 10s since the restart. Berger, Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson lead a pack of seven golfers that have three. Others that also have three are Ryan Palmer, Noren, Kevin Kisner and Russell Henley.

Top 25s: I’ve mentioned consistency a couple of times, and no one has had more of it than English and Schauffele over the last 10 weeks, racking up six top 25s. Johnson’s erratic play has still led to five top 25s. Simpson, Kisner, Hovland and Noren all have five. It’s been feast or famine for DeChambeau, who has the same number of top 10s as top 25s in the last 10 weeks.

Negatives

Top 10s: With half the field size of what we had last week when we had 54 golfers yet to record a top 10, we now only have 23 in this field of 70. Last week, English proved me right by coming in second and was on the list of eight or so players that I mentioned had to record a top 10. So, this week, names like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Cameron Smith, Bubba Watson, Jason Kokrak and Matt Kuchar have all yet to come inside the top 10 since the restart. I bet at least one of those six will break that mold this week.

Top 25s: Six golfers still haven’t earned a top 25 since the restart. Marc Leishman, Tom Hoge, Nick Taylor, Andrew Landry, Carlos Ortiz and Woods. I’ll take my chances and say at least one of these golfers will accomplish that feat this week. Others like Joaquin Niemann and Sungjae Im are also way below the curve in terms of the percentage of starts finishing inside the top 25.

Fit & Form

While we have no course history, we can look at courses that could be good comparisons and see if any of those names pop up on a comp course/recent form basis.

  • A tougher par-70 layout with harder fairways sounds a lot like TPC Harding Park from the PGA Championship. Obviously, Dustin Johnson is red hot, just dusted the field by 11 last week and also played well at TPC Harding Park. A couple of other names include Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Paul Casey and Jason Day.
