The Fit & Form Guide for the RBC Heritage | DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS

After playing a 10 ten weeks to start the season, we’ve been on a 10-week hiatus. In that time, we’ve worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most important elements when building out lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the PGA DFS Fit & Form guide for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Recent Form Since the Sony Open

Opening Remarks

Last week went fantastically as the PGA Tour had a great leaderboard and no cases of COVID. It was an all-around win-win for the game of golf and sports in general. We get another stacked field this week at Harbour Town, but also a few new names and faces, so we’ll run through the positives and negatives again.

Positives

  • We might as well just start with Hulk-O-Mania, better known Bryson DeChambeau, who made it four for his last four starts finishing in the top five. He’s also the only golfer now with five top-10s on the season. Last week’s winner Daniel Berger now has four, as do Rory McIlroy and Sungjae Im.
  • This week we have nine golfers that have all played at least twice in the last 10 competition weeks that have made every cut: Berger, McIlroy and DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa (who has made 21 straight cuts to start his PGA Tour career), Joel Dahmen, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tyrell Hatton, Hideki Matsuyama, and Talor Gooch.
  • Only four golfers have a higher-than-80% top-25 rate that has at least five starts: Dahmen, McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm.

Negatives

  • Martin Trainer has had a rough go of it lately, missing seven of eight cuts, the only golfer in this tournament to have missed seven cuts in this time frame. Mackenzie Hughes, Scott Brown, Brian Gay, Jim Herman and Roger Sloan all have missed six.
  • Only Chris Stroud hasn’t made a paycheck since the turn of the new year, missing all six cuts this year.
  • Thirty golfers have no top-25s in the last 10 competitions, including Joaquin Niemann, Tyler Duncan, Doc Redman and Aaron Wise.

Course History at Harbour Town Golf Links since 2015

Opening Remarks

It is a fantastic setup and course in Hilton Head this week, but it will be a lot different in terms of grass surfaces. Typically a poa/bentgrass in April, as it withstands the cooler temperatures much better, it shifted to Bermuda to deal with the much hotter summers. That may mix people up on the greens a bit, which are typically the easiest to putt on all year. The par 71 at 7,100 yards will undoubtedly play a bit longer with not a lot of spots to take out the driver off the tee.

Positives

  • Forty-one golfers have teed it up at least once in the last five years and made the cut in each of those appearances. Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson, Kevin Kisner, Ian Poulter, Branden Grace, Ryan Palmer and Brian Stuard have all had at least four starts in the last five years and made the cut each time.
  • Last years runner-up Kuchar leads the field with three top-10s in the previous five years, while eight other golfers each have two. The others include Grace, Poulter, Kisner, Kevin Streelman, Luke Donald, Kevin Na and Troy Merritt.
  • Kuchar is the only golfer with more than three starts to come in the top 25 in all of them, while Poulter is the only other golfer that has done it at least 80% of the time with more than two starts.

Negatives

  • Only Corey Conners, who was part of last week’s Millionaire Maker lineup, has missed more than two cuts, missing three in three tries over the previous five years here. Danny Willett, Glen Day and Carlos Ortiz have all missed multiple cuts in their only attempts.
  • Four golfers have competed here every year since 2015 without a top 25: Scott Brown, Graeme McDowell and Danny Lee.

Fit & Form

Now that we’ve covered both course history and recent form, let’s see if we can find any crossovers, either negative or positive.

  • Kisner had a decent tournament at Colonial last week, but ultimately fell flat with the flat stick and finished in a tie for 29th. He hasn’t missed a cut here in the last five years, to go along with three top-11s.
  • Poulter is on a very similar trajectory as Kisner but will need to improve his off-the-tee game from last week. That was really the only thing that held him back from getting inside the top 20. He has hit said top 20 four times in the last five years here at Harbour Town.
  • Schauffele has seen the course twice now, and while his finishes are less than stellar at 63rd and 32nd, he always turns it up when his competition is the best. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him close the door and win this week.
  • Bud Cauley capped off a solid tournament last week with a bogey-free 68 on Sunday. He’s 3-for-3 in cuts made here the last three years, including top-25s, and should come in with some good confidence off that good Sunday round.
