The Fit & Form Guide for the Workday Charity Open | DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS

During the 10-week hiatus, we worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most essential elements when building out lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the PGA DFS Fit & Form guide for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel. Also, since we’ve been playing for just over a month, I’ll highlight the last four weeks of play as well.

Don’t forget to check out the PGA DFS Strategy Show for the Workday Charity Open with Ben Rasa and Timothy Frank. And we’ve got Ben and Jason Rouslin tomorrow for Live Before Lock.

Recent Form Since the Genesis

Positives

  • Over the span of these 10 tournaments, only one golfer in the field has more than three top-10s: Justin Thomas. He has two missed cuts and four top-10s. Joseph Bramlett and Sungjae Im each have three. Another 18 golfers have two including players like Maverick McNealy, Collin Morikawa and Ryan Armour who is working on back-to-back top-10s.
  • Patrick Cantlay only has three starts over these 10 tournaments but has come inside the top 25 in each of them, the only golfer to accomplish that. Xander Schauffele has started seven times and accomplished this feat six times, while Joel Dahmen has done it five times in six tries.
  • Four golfers have made all their cuts, competing at least three times: Dahmen, Schauffele, Cantlay and Ian Poulter.

Last Four Weeks

  • 39 of the golfers this week have competed all four weeks on the Tour since the return. Only one golfer has come in the top 25 in all four starts: Viktor Hovland. Mark Hubbard, Richy Werenski and Brian Stuard are the three others that have made every cut in the four weeks since returning.
  • Michael Thompson, Troy Merritt, Scott Stallings, Adam Hadwin, Maverick McNealy and Chris Kirk have all competed three times and made the cut in each of them.
  • Three golfers, all mentioned above, have multiple top-10s: Thomas, Bramlet and Armour.

Negatives

  • Three golfers have really struggled over the last 10 tournament weeks, missing seven cuts: Russell Knox, Ted Potter Jr., and Martin Trainer. Luckily for each of them, they’ve all earned a paycheck. For this next bunch of golfers, that isn’t the case. David Hearn has missed all six cuts, Lucas Bjerregaard and Andrew Putnam have missed all five and Michael Kim has missed the last two.
  • Fifty-one golfers will be in search of the first top-20 in the last 10 tournament weeks. I’ll highlight a few of those names here: Matt Wallace, Sam Burns, Doug Ghim, C.T. Pan, Austin Cook, Tyler Duncan, Aaron Wise, and Kevin Tway.
  • As one can assume, there are 100 golfers in the field that will be searching for their first top-10 in the last 10 tournament weeks.

Last Four weeks:

  • Seven golfers have yet to earn a paycheck since the hiatus and have missed all four cuts: Tyler McCumber, Brian Gay, Sebastian Cappelen, C.T. Pan, Kevin Tway, Russell Knox and David Hearn. Another 11 have missed all three of their starts since the return: Trainer, Kim, Putnam, Cameron Davis, Robby Shelton, Beau Hossler, Jimmy Walker, Jamie Lovemark, Aaron Baddeley, Nate Lashley, and Matt Every.

Course History at Muirfield Village Golf Club

There is plenty of data for this week’s course.

Positives

  • Three golfers competing this week have amassed four top-25s over the last five years here. Byeong-Hun An has accomplished it in all four starts, and Kevin Streelman and Marc Leishman have done it in four of five.
  • Twelve golfers have multiple top-10s here in the last five years, and Streelman and Leishman are two of the 12. Others include Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Kyle Stanley, Justin Thomas, and Patrick Cantlay.
  • Forty-one golfers teeing it up this week have never missed a cut here, but a lot of them have only played it once. Some of the other names that have played it at least three times and made every cut are: Emiliano Grillo, Jame Lovemark, Patrick Reed, Matt Jones, Russell Knox, Pat Perez, Brendan Steele, Rory Sabbatini and Nick Watney.

Negatives

  • Only 10 golfers haven’t been able to earn a paycheck at Muirfield Village, and that number shrinks to just five of guys that have played here multiple times and missed the cut in all of them. They are Carlos Ortiz, Aaron Wise, Matt Every, J.J. Spaun, and Michael Kim.
  • Patton Kizzie, Justin Thomas and Jason Kokrak join Ortiz and Every with missing at least three cuts in the last five years.

Fit & Form

Now that we’ve covered both course history and recent form, let’s see if we can find any crossovers, either negative or positive.

  • Patrick Cantlay hasn’t missed a cut since last year’s Player’s Championship and has two top-10s in three starts here.
  • Xander Schauffele is also trending in the right direction with no missed cuts since the return and working off of a 14th here last year.
  • Michael Thompson has turned a few good starts recently and now heads to a course that he played well on last year, coming in 14th.
  • Similarly to Thompson, Emiliano Grillo finally seems to be playing much better, and perfect timing too because he’s made all four cuts here since 2016, including three top-25s.
  • A couple of other names include:
    • Jordan Spieth
    • Troy Merritt
