The Fit & Form Guide Wyndham Championship | DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS Picks

During the 10-week hiatus, we worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most essential elements when building out DFS lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the PGA DFS Fit & Form guide to make your PGA DFS picks for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Wyndham Championship

Recent Form Since the Return of Play (Charles Schwab)

Nine weeks of golf have been played since the return from the Pandemic, and all told, it’s been a great nine weeks of golf. With it being the only sport in town for at least the first few weeks, it has gained popularity with fans and bettors alike. The numbers for each telecast continue to get better, putting professional golf in a great spot. It’s helped keep prize pools in DFS significantly higher than usual, making each and every week just as important as the last, even if it’s not a major. So, let’s dig into this field and see who’s performing the best since the return.

As opposed to last week, when 27 golfers were making their first start since the return of play, this week we only have four: Anirban Lahiri, Kiradech Aphinbarnrat, Akshay Bhatia and Vince Covello.

Positives

  • Top 10s: Twelve golfers in this field have multiple top 10s since the Charles Schwab: Maverick McNealy, Justin Rose, Webb Simpson, Scott Stallings, Kristoffer Ventura, Ryan Armour, Brooks Koepka, Joseph Bramlett, J.T. Poston, Patrick Reed and Luke List. All of them have two.
  • Top 25s: Five golfers in the field have accumulated at least four top 25s. Reed and Ventura are two of them, while the other three are Harrish English, Brendon Todd and Lucas Glover, all who have four top 25s but no top 10s..
  • Cuts: Only four golfers in the field this week have made every cut. Mark Hubbard withdrew five weeks ago, so we may have to count that as a missed cut, which would bring that number down to three. The other four are, Scott Stallings, Wesley Bryan and Arjun Atwal. If we look at more recent form and take only the last five weeks, we add a bunch of golfers here that haven’t missed a cut. That includes English, Reed Henrik Norlander, Pat Perez, Austin Cook, Stewart Cink, Si Woo Kim, Sepp Straka, Matt Wallace, Brandon Hagy and Billy Horschel

Negatives

  • Top 10s: With so few golfers having multiple top 10s, it’s no surprise to see 106 golfers searching for their first top 10 of the last nine weeks. I’ve already mentioned three of the better players here, English, Glover and Todd, but a few other names that might surprise you are Kim, Ryan Moore, Patrick Rodgers, Lanto Griffin and Sam Burns.
  • Top 25s: About half as many, 65 golfers, are yet to record a top 25 since the return. A couple of more notable names here are Sebastian Munoz, Tommy Fleetwood, Graeme McDowell, Brandt Snedeker, Bud Cauley and Sung Kang.
  • Cuts: Eight golfers in the field have yet to earn a paycheck since the restart, and five have at least one start. Those five are David Berganio, D.J. Trahan, John Senden, Martin Trainer and Michael Kim.

Positives

  • Top 10s: Living on the course, Webb Simpson has been able to cash a hefty paycheck in each of the last three years with three top fives, and he added another top 10 back in 2015 for a total of four in the last five years. Another eight golfers in the field have two top 10s since 2015: Snedeker, Moore, Kim, Horschel, Armour, Jim Furyk, Rory Sabbatini and Davis Love III.
  • Top 25s: Many of the golfers above have three top 25s as well, and joining them is Brice Garnett. Rafa Cabrera Bello has come in the top 25 in his two starts here at Sedgefield, as have Paul Casey and Patrick Reed.
  • Cuts: Twenty-four golfers have earned a paycheck in every start with a minimum of two starts, including Cauley, Lahiri, Glover, Patton Kizzire, Kevin Kisner, Joaquin Niemann, Charles Howell III and J.J. Spaun.

Negatives

  • Top 10s: Thirteen golfers have completed at least four times in the last five years and have yet to record a top 10. Those are Glover, English, Stallings, Jason Dufner, Peter Malnati, Cameron Percy, Kyle Stanley, Chesson Hadley, Robert Streb, Tom Hoge, Brian Stuard, Nick Watney and Chris Stroud.
  • Top 25s: Of those golfers with no top 10s and at least four starts, a handful has no top 25s either: Hadley, Atwal, Watney, Stroud and Matt Jones.
  • Cuts: Only Jones and Atwal have missed the cut all four times. Plenty of other golfers have yet to earn a paycheck here at Sedgefield Country Club, including List, Doc Redman, Dylan Frittelli and Jhonattan Vegas.

Fit & Form

Now that we’ve covered both course history and recent form, let’s see if we can find any crossovers, either negative or positive.

  • The first criteria I’m looking at here for this week are golfers that show up in both positives categories. Webb Simpson is the most obvious one here. Others that are not so obvious include Poston, Armour and Kim.
  • The next thing I’ll look for is a golfer that has at least two top 25s in the last six weeks and two top 25s here since 2015. They are Reed, Moore and Glover.
