PGA DFS & Golf Betting Picks: PGA Championship 2022
All of the best are here to compete this week, including my three favorites — Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay. Morikawa provides a unique play this week, as many gamers opt to look to others in his price range and could be owned under 10% this week. I will use that as a 2x leverage spot. Spieth and Cantlay are both likely to come in around 20% owned and will be in close to a third of my lineups, or at least Spieth will.
PGA Weather Forecast
This week, the wind will play a factor, as gusts could reach the high 30s but will likely be somewhat consistent through the first two rounds. Temperatures will be perfect and there does not look to be any rain in the forecast. PGA Championship 2022 Fantasy Golf Picks & Projections
These golfers will have anywhere between 20% and 50% allocation.
Xander Schauffele
$9,300 DraftKings/$11,900 FanDuel | 25-1 (BetMGM)
A rare strategy, for me at least, is not to overweight one of the studs of the field. But with Morikawa and even Jon Rahm being leverage spots, as well as so much value from the low $9,000 range, it is hard to go overweight with any of them. Schauffele has all the momentum in the world, playing his final 50 holes last week at 26 under. When he is at his best, he does everything well. Southern Hills rewards golfers that have all parts of their game working, something Schauffele should take advantage of this week.
Max HomaÂ
$8,100 DraftKings/$11,400 FanDuel | 66-1 (Bet MGM)
En route to his victory at the Wells Fargo Championship, Homa was on point with his ball striking and his putter, but his around-the-green work was not good, losing almost four strokes for the week. That is well below his standard, which typically operates at level or slightly losing to the field. While he will need all parts of his game working this week to win, at these value prices his ball striking and putting should get him close to the first page of the leaderboard come Sunday.

Harold VarnerÂ
$7,000 DraftKings/$8,700 FanDuel | 130-1 (Outright/Each Ways)
All signs are pointing in the right direction for Varner as he searches for his first PGA Tour win. He has been close multiple times this season and is starting to get his footing in major championships. With a lot of quality names playing well in his price range, as well as some veterans like Patrick Reed that are not, Varner’s ownership should remain under 10%. He has been in the final group before at this event, so we know the talent is there. The heart and mind have to follow.
Robert MacIntyre
$6,900 DraftKings/$9,000 FanDuel | 125-1 (Outright/Each-Ways)
The young lefty from Scotland has proven time and time again that he relishes the opportunities to play in major championships. He has never missed a cut in the seven times he has teed it up in one and has a few top 10 and top 25 finishes. He is playing consistent golf again this season, as he has not missed a cut or finished worse than 35th since January. He is also projected to be less than 5% owned this week, so no need to go overboard to get leverage.
Anirban LahiriÂ
$6,500 DraftKings/$8,500 FanDuel | 150-1 (Outright/Each-Ways)
It was 2015 when Lahiri had not had many PGA Tour starts but had risen up the OWGR board by stellar play on the Asian PGA Tour. He came to the PGA Championship as a total darkhorse and ended up being a part of the story. He came in a tie for fifth and from there earned his way onto the PGA Tour. For the better part of the next five years, he earned just enough money and FedEx Cup points but found something in his game at The Players Championship, coming in second after missing three of his previous four cuts. He has made every cut since then, with three top 15 finishes and one top 10. He used every attribute to his advantage in his tie for sixth two weeks ago at the Wells Fargo Championship, gaining at least 1.5 strokes in all four categories. If that type of game continues this week, he could give himself a chance to match, or beat, the fifth-place finish he had back in 2015.
