This column is a quick-hitter article to give you the stats you need to make informed PGA DFS picks for your DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy golf lineups. We’re in search of a few recommendations for the fourth round of the Farmers Insurance. In a typical Showdown GPP, DraftKings will offer upwards of $50,000 to first place for second-and third-round tournaments and sometimes up to $100,000 for the final-round contests. They also provide weekend-long contests that have been offering $25,000 to first place on average. FanDuel has also tried to get into the weekend-long and final-round contests, offering $10,000 and $5,000 to first place in their PGA DFS Showdown contests. Let’s take a look at PGA DFS picks for Round 3 of the Farmers Insurance Open.

PGA DFS Showdown Picks: Farmers Insurance Open Round 4
Previous Round Recap
Saturday was an exciting afternoon at Torrey Pines, making me all the more excited for this year’s U.S. Open. Carlos Ortiz made the biggest move in the round, going out and shooting 66, the lowest round of the day by two! He posted quite early and watched the last group’s struggle from 13-16. Only Patrick Reed could equal him at the 10 under number. Of course, Patrick Reed is embroiled in yet another controversy after claiming he had an embedded ball on the 10th hole when it clearly wasn’t embedded. He went on to make par. It clearly bounced. Reed was told the ball wasn’t embedded, so now what happens? Golf rules are tricky where it comes down to your grouping and what went on to arrive at a conclusion, and everything was done by the book. Therefore, the play stands. BS. You be the judge.

General Strategy and Farmers Insurance PGA DFS Picks
Before you go make lineups, make sure you know that finishing points are awarded to players for the final round. Secondly, golfers that are finding fairways have the best chance to score, which should be pretty clear, as the wet long rough is proving penal, particularly from outside 150 yards.
Top-10
With the top five highest priced golfers on the slate all within four strokes of the lead, tomorrow should be filled with tons of fireworks. Certainly, someone four back matching the 66 that Ortiz posted today would have a chance to win, so don’t count Tony Finau out quite yet. Outside of the studs left, Oritz had complete control of his game in round three, including hitting more fairways than in the first two rounds. Sam Burns, who finds himself only two back, really struggled with his irons today. A hot putter and a good day off the tee keep him in position to chase his first win on the PGA Tour on Sunday.
Burns isn’t the only relevant Sam on the slate, as Sam Ryder continues his strong form from the last few weeks and is an intriguing option going into the final round. Also in the top-10, are Will Zalatoris and Ryan Palmer, who scraped together very nice third rounds and have a chance on Sunday. They’ll be teeing it up with Xander Schauffele, who has a chance at the best finish at Torrey Pines in his young career.
PGA DFS Picks Outside the Top 10
- Sungjae Im ($9,100) Having just needed to hold it together with the flat stick, Im has been simmering these last few weeks, including a lead in last week’s event. He found the putting stroke today and presents a very nice low owned play for the final round tomorrow. Another 68 or 69, and he’ll slide into the top-10.
- Max Homa ($7,600) Homa needed some heroics at the end of his round, holing out from about 90 yards for eagle. That might be the confidence boost he needs to get himself into the top-10 here for the second straight year. In a grind-it-out event like we had today, sometimes all you need is a bit luck to go your way to stay in it, and he’s done that.
Sneaky PGA DFS Pick for Round 4
Kyle Stanley ($6,500)
With a chance to make Awesemo’s own Ben Rasa proud, Stanley put together a rather quality ball-striking round and fired a two-under 70. His irons have been hot for quite a while now, and in round three, he gained almost three strokes. One more round like that tomorrow, and a couple of putts that drop, and Stanley could sneak in the top-10 by day’s end.
DraftKings and FanDuel Farmers Insurance Open Lineup Fill-Ins
- J.T. Poston ($6,400)
- Henrik Norlander ($7,200)
- Rory Sabbatini ($7,000)
- Will Zalatrois ($8,700)
