Over the first two days of the tournament, rain played a big part of it, but it wasn’t that cold. Today though, it was cold, windy, and rainy. Quite possibly the worst conditions to play golf in as the scoring average crept up north of 73.5. This article will cover a few stats from the first three rounds and some PGA DFS Picks for the final round.
PGA DFS Golf Picks Today: Wells Fargo Championship Round 4
Round 3 Recap
Morning Wave
There were only four under-par rounds on the day, one of them by Keegan Bradley, who will be looking for his first win in some time. Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young also weathered the conditions, and each of them is within range of Bradley, both sitting at two-under heading into the final round. Jason Day started round three with a three-shot lead but ended up shooting a 79 in the third round, showing no lead is safe on this golf course.
Even ppar was a great score on the day, as only ten golfers, including the four that were under par, shot even or better. The six that shot even were Anirban Lahiri, Matthew Wolff, Si Woo Kim, C.T. Pan K-H Lee and Corey Conners. Conners, who started the day at even par, and finished there, moved up 31 spots on the day. McIlroy was the biggest mover, going up 44 spots, from a tie for 50th to a tie for 6th.

Both the wind and rain are supposed to die down a bit for the final round, as the later the day goes on, the nicer it gets. It’ll be cold again, especially in the morning, with temps in the mid-’40s, but the wind is supposed to die off right around 12 or 1230.
Corey Conners ($10,300)
There is a nice Canadian connection for Conners on Sunday as he plays with countrymate and friend Mackenzie Hughes. Conners struggled with his irons the first two rounds, but as we noted in last night’s article, that’s typically his stroke suit. He bounced back today in a big way, gaining over two strokes, which should provide solid momentum heading into Sunday. With Rory, Keegan and Max Homa all well positioned on the leaderboard, I suspect Conners, and Tony Finau, next up in our picks, will be low-owned relative to those three.
Tony Finau ($10,000)
Leverage play here with Finau, as we just noted, who couldn’t handle the wet conditions very well today. But, surprisingly, this week, he’s having a difficult time with his irons, which certainly isn’t usually the case, nor was it last week at the Mexico Open, where he came in second in the field for that category. That should yield to a bounce-back on Sunday at very low ownership.
Mackenzie Hughes ($7,400)
Mackenzie has hung around the leaderboard all week, but a poor stretch of golf yesterday pushed him down to -1 after sitting at -4 for a while. Today, he played solidly but struggled around the green, which is not something he typically does. However, he looks good with the putter, which is his best weapon, as he gained over 1.4 strokes on the day. If that can stay hot for Sunday’s round, and he cleans up the around the green work, he could climb up to the top 10, or even top 5 with a 66 or better.
Other Low Owned Targets for PGA DFS Round 4 of the Wells Fargo Championship
- Lanto Griffin ($7,600)
- Stephan Jaeger ($7,300)
- J.T. Poston ($7,100)
- Turk Petit ($6,000)
