This week the top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings will move on to the second leg of the playoffs, with the BMW Championship. This stop will send players a few hours south to the suburbs of Baltimore, and the Millionaire Maker, is back for the last time this season. The tour heads to Caves Valley Golf Club for the first time ever, and new courses always bring new challenges to the tour.

The BMW Championship PGA DFS Preview and Picks
The BMW Championship has served as a playoff spot since 2007, and it has always been the last tournament before the Tour Championship. It has moved venues eight times since its inception and has been in the state of Illinois nine times out of the 12 years. This year the tour heads to the prestigious Caves Valley Golf Club, located just outside of Baltimore.
Caves Valley Golf Club Previews
Built back in 1991, Caves Valley boasts a small membership of only 600. The course was recently renovated to add yardage and difficulty to the rough. The last time a major event was held here was the 2002 U.S. Senior Open. As is typical with golf clubs of this stature, using the natural elements to shape the course is one of Tom Fazio’s greatest attributes. The added yardage pushed it to just shy of 7,300 yards, and now it plays as a par 72.
Par and Yardage
- Par 71: 7,290 yards
Course Difficulty
- N/A — Given the strength of the field and the number of scorable holes, this should rank one of the top 20 easiest courses on the PGA Tour.

PGA DFS Sweat Sheet and Slate Preview
Slate Preview
DraftKings is upping the ante this week, offering $1 million to first and $2 million guaranteed. They are also awarding $250,000 to first and $1 million guaranteed for the GPP buy-in.
Sweat Sheet
Since there is nothing in the way of course history, I will create my own projections for each hole using statistical comps from others, with a slightly personal added touch based on course review. I will use the WGC at Concession and Liberty National as models.
A stretch on the back nine that features two short par 4’s and two par 5’s will be the easiest on the course. However, there is no official card yet, but it could play as par 72. This will be updated accordingly.
The BMW Championship PGA DFS Player Preview
There were about 20 spots in limbo entering the final round of the Northern Trust last week, with a few big names circling the top 70 cut-off. In the end, Phil Mickelson got the last cut-off spot, ranking 70th. Other big names like Matthew Wolff, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton and Ian Poulter all failed to make it to the BMW Championship. Outside of them and the newly withdrawn Patrick Reed, all of the rest of the world’s best are playing, including all of the players in the top 10.
