PGA DFS: DraftKings Showdown Spotlight Picks for Round 4 of The PGA Championship

A fantastic week will culminate with some massive PGA DFS prizes for Sunday’s final round of the PGA Championship. Phil Mickelson continues to defy the odds as he looks to become the oldest major champion ever in the history of major championships. The prior record was 48-years-old at this tournament back in 1968. Phil will look to change the record books one more time. Below I’ll list my top DraftKings PGA DFS showdown picks for the final round of the PGA Championship.

DraftKings Showdown Spotlight Picks for Round 4 of The PGA Championship

Previous Round Recap

If you made the weekend at the 103rd PGA Championship, you were just 10 strokes back to start the day. Not an insurmountable feat by any stretch, and a few would take advantage of that. One of those was Webb Simpson, who finally got the putter rolling, but he couldn’t keep the momentum all the way through. Then there was Patrick Reed, who looked good off the tee, but the irons weren’t good enough in the first 7 holes to move him fair enough. Then, Jordan Spieth. He had one of the rounds of the day with at least three lip outs and maybe four. If all of those drop and we avoid the late bogey on 17, he would be just one back of Mickelson & Koepka. At even par and just six back, it’ll take a 63 tomorrow to win.

Billy Horschel, who was also out quite early, was the only other one with 68 on the card today other than Spieth, while fan-favorite Rickie Fowler was one of four golfers to shot 69. Reed, Simpson & PGA Professional Ben Cook were the only ones in the 60s today. Wow. Even with little to no winds, the Kiawah Island Ocean course still played to a 73 average.

Round 3 Stat Recap

Those who have been following my Showdown articles know I like to target golfers gaining strokes in all facets of their game; if one part goes south, they have others to fall back on. In Round 3, the following gained strokes in all four facets:

  1. Patrick Reed
  2. Kevin Streelman
  3. Patrick Cantlay
  4. Joel Dahmen

DraftKings

  • DraftKings is offering $100,000 to first place and $400,000 guaranteed for the final-round slate.

An early gusty breeze should dissipate as the sun rises and mild out around 10:00 am. Once the sun starts to set in the late afternoon, it may kick up slightly again. If you want to play a wind angle, look at golfers teeing off in the 11:00-12:30 window.

PGA DFS Picks for Round 4 of the PGA Championship

  • Louis Oosthuizen ($9,200) I think he would have told you that he would have much rather been in the final group, but I think this actually works out better for him. He’ll be able to post a number for those before him to look at. The only thing that went wrong today was his putter, which has been the best all year! Legitimately, he’s ranked #1 in strokes gained putting on the PGA Tour last year. He should be able to bounce back tomorrow.
  • Tony Finau ($7,800)  At one point in the day, I had a passing thought it would be Finau’s week. But a late double sent those dreams packing, but he’s also been solid all week. His price is very reasonable as well, and rather than trying to stack so many up top, I want to start my lineups with a bunch of golfers at even par and look for the chasing back to post a number.
  • Patrick Cantlay ($7,500) I’ve got to stay here with my guy tomorrow. He’s given us everything we could have asked for all week, given he was about 4% owned. His irons look so much better than the last few times out, and he has a chance to get his first top 10 in a couple of months with another under-par round tomorrow.

Sneaky Pick for the Round 4 Showdown

  • Jon Rahm ($9,600) Not your typically “sneaky” pick, but given that he’s so far down the leaderboard and his price remains high, his ownership is likely to come in at less than 10%. His ball-striking has been superb all week, but the putter has been a complete letdown. If that flips tomorrow, he could post a 67 and get inside the top 10 for your true back door top 10.

DraftKings Fill-Ins for the PGA Championship

  • Patrick Reed ($7,400)Gary Woodland ($8,000)
