PGA DFS Picks: Top 3 SuperDraft Picks | PGA Championship | Dustin Johnson + Tiger Woods

Each week we’re diving into PGA DFS analysis and giving you some of the top PGA DFS picks for SuperDraft with the help of the world’s No. 1 DFS player, Alex “Awesemo” Baker, and his SuperDraft Projections (PREMIUM). Justin Thomas was at it again during last week’s WGC FedEx St. Jude Classic, climbing back on Sunday. That’s why he’s arguably the best in the world. This week it’s our first major of the year, the PGA Championship, and we’re getting another stacked field — and, of course, that means the legendary Tiger Woods is returning.

We’re going with a bit of a different formula this week, baking in PGA odds a bit more but still using Awesemo’s projections as the baseline. Here’s a quick glance behind the curtain at three of Awesemo’s best PGA picks to plug into your SuperDraft lineups for this week’s 2020 PGA Championship.

SuperDraft Picks | 2020 PGA Championship

1) Dustin Johnson (1.10x multiplier)

It seems like every week the tide takes a 180-degree turn on Dustin Johnson — whether it’s good or bad. One week he’s the best. The next he’s awful, and the DFS crowd is never playing him again. Well, this week, guess what? I’m playing him.

He put together a really nice week in Memphis at the WGC FedEx St. Jude Classic, finishing with a tied-12th and a solid 67 on Sunday. It looks like the back isn’t actually a problem. It seems more like someone just didn’t want to spend a week in Minneapolis. You can’t blame him. Even Minneapolis’ own Timothy Frank said he wouldn’t want to be in Minneapolis that long on the Awesemo PGA DFS Strategy Show that week.

Johnson gained more than two strokes in each of the tee-to-green metrics but managed that 12th place despite losing strokes putting. With putting being one of the most finicky stats week-to-week, expect that to correct itself a little this weekend. He knows his way around TPC Harding Park and has top-10 finishes here in three of his last six starts — one of those was a second-place finish in 2019. With his skill set, course history and true win equity, he’s high on my priority list this weekend.

2) Tiger Woods (1.15x multiplier)

The day I’ve been waiting for is finally here: Pumping Tiger Woods in a DFS setting for a major. As someone whose dad played with Tiger in his first — and only — appearance at the John Deere Classic many moons ago, this is what it’s about. After taking a couple of events off after The Memorial, Tiger is dialing it up again.

His first start back wasn’t great, finishing 40th, but there was bound to be a little bit of rust. Though, Tiger was doing Tiger things despite such a lengthy hiatus, gaining 1.38 strokes on approach at The Memorial. Obviously, he’s one of the best iron players we’ve ever seen, and he clearly still has it. He’s not as long as some of the other big-name players, so those irons will come in handy this week, especially on the par 4’s of 450-500 yards. This could be a white-hot iron display from Tiger this week, who has a top-10 winning percentage in the Awesemo SuperDraft projections. For the class of player Tiger Woods is, and to get him at 1.15x, this feels like a steal.

3) Brooks Koepka (1.10x multiplier)

It’s hard to think of the PGA Championship without thinking of Koepka. After all, he is going for a PGA Championship three-peat. Moreover, he has finished outside of the top five just once in this event — a 13th back in 2017. That is impressive stuff, even for one of the best golfers on the planet.

Koepka is coming in with some really nice-looking form, finishing second at WGC FedEx St. Jude Classic. Though, he likely could’ve won if it weren’t for an outlier performance with the flat stick, where he lost -.683 strokes putting. This week, TPC Harding Park sets up well for him. His ability to crush it off the tee and keep it relatively straight will allow him some shorter approaches with the irons into some of the many par 4’s. The irons and ball striking have been stellar lately, as he has the most strokes gained total over the last two events — and that’s even with losing strokes putting last week.

Kopeka comes in with a top-five rating in the both top-six percentage and win percentage metrics in Awesemo’s projections. Sometimes it’s best not to get too cute.
