Round 2 PGA DFS Picks: The RBC Heritage

Previous Round Recap

Morning Wave

Harbour Town and Hilton Head didn’t disappoint on Day 1, with great conditions and the average score right around even par. The morning wave saw Matt Wallace and Lucas Glover both got out to 4-under 31s, playing the backside first. Wallace would post 6 under, which looked to be good enough, but Stewart Cink caught fire in the middle of his round and jetted out to an 8-under 63 — his best score at Harbour Town as a pro.

A couple of other notables also found themself in the top five after their morning round, with Harold Varner III, Charles Howell III and Billy Horschel shooting 5-under 66s. The No.1 player in the world, Dustin Johnson, shot a 1-under 70, and rising star Will Zalatoris checked in with a 3-under 68, including a double at the easiest hole on the course.

Afternoon Wave

The stars of the event came to play in the afternoon. Cameron Smith birdied his first two holes and didn’t look back after that. He would go on to birdie seven more on the day, with no bogeys, and shot the best score of the round at 62. Smith’s late birdies leapfrogged him over Cink for the lead after Round 1.

Also playing well was Collin Morikawa, who seemed to find his putting stroke in Round 1, which is always a bad sign for the rest of the field. Corey Conners kept in peak form and had a couple of late birdies, getting himself into the top 10 with a Thursday score of 67. Brian Harman was also right there, who also put himself in contention after Round 1 for the fourth tournament in a row.

The RBC Heritage PGA DFS Picks

Today’s predicted forecast was quite accurate, with mild wind in the morning and a tiny storm passing through and bringing the wind in the afternoon. That could all happen again, as the wind will stick around for most of the morning. In large, it’s not too fierce, with gusts only reaching around 23 mph. Most of that wind, though, should die down in the afternoon.

PGA DFS Picks for Round 2 of The RBC Heritage

  • Collin Morikawa ($10,000): Between him and Smith, Morikawa is the better pick here in Round 2. Both managed conditions well, but Morikawa showed positive signs last week at Augusta and now has himself in the top five yet again.
  • Corey Conners ($9,200): It is time to stop fading Conners. It was yet another round where he gained more than three strokes on the irons. Conners also gained off the tee marginally while dipping slightly with his stroke game. If he catches one good day with the putter, Conners will be at the top of the leaderboard quite soon.
  • Brian Harman ($9,000): At this point, there are no good enough reasons to fade Harman. He checks all the boxes and comes at a fair price. Instead of trying to pivot to golfers like Tommy Fleetwood, who can’t break par if his life depended on it, go with Harman. After all, Harman hasn’t had an over-par round (outside of Augusta) in quite some time.

Sneaky PGA DFS Pick for Round 2

  • Kevin Tway ($6,100): After missing the last few months due to injury, Tway struggled by going bogey-double at the onset. After that, though, he was able to pour in seven birdies to get himself to 3 under. It is good to see Tway’s short-game spurt right back to form. Maybe he has been practicing that quite a bit. The amount Tway gained in Round 1, though, isn’t likely to be sustainable — and neither is losing four strokes off the tee.

DraftKings and FanDuel The RBC Heritage Lineup Fill-Ins

  • Will Zalatoris ($9,600)
  • Emiliano Grillo ($7,600)
  • Matt Wallace ($7,500)
  • Sung Kang ($6,100)
