Let’s dig in and take a look at some stats and some of the best PGA DFS Picks for round three showdown contests.
PGA DFS Golf Picks Today: Round 3 Valspar Championship
Round 2 Recap
Morning Wave
Justin Thomas would pick up where he left off round one and get out to a very fast start on the back nine, birding four of his first 5. He’d get it to seven under at one point, before an unforced error on the par four 7th where he made double. Still a superb round of 66 on the day. Scott Stallings, Adam Hadwin and Sam Burns would all turn in their second straight day with a solid score, all shooting 67 or better. Webb Simpson, Xander Schauffele and Brian Harman would all move into position as well, shooting 67,67 in the first two rounds.
Other rounds of note include Kevin Kisner and Martin Kaymer’s five-under 66s, which matched the third-lowest round of the day.
Afternoon Wave:Â
The wind would pick up a bit in the afternoon, as would the temps, and scores would go higher with it. But, not for Matthew NeSmith, who turned in the round of the tournament shooting a ten under 61. He beat the rest of the field by four! One of the best rounds on tour in some time. Brandon Wu also continued his hot run of form, coming in a tie for third in his last start in Puerto Rico, and had the second-best round of the day, shooting a six-under 65.
Other solid rounds were turned in by C.T. Pan and Bill Haas,Â

Best PGA DFS Golf Picks Today for DraftKings Showdown
As we saw today, with Viktor Hovland’s ($10,200) ownership dipping close to 10%, showdown ownership is very concentrated, Now, going under-weight Justin Thomas($10,600) would not have been a positive endeavor today, but it does give a ton of leverage if one of the other lower owned players can outperform huh. For that reason, Hovland and this next golfer are firmly in play for the third-round slate tomorrow.
- Collin Morikawa($10,000): Thru two rounds, Collin has ball-striking stats that should put him at the top of the leaderboard. Hitting just shy of 90% of his fairways and gaining seven strokes ball striking, Collin needs to do something about the short game. He’s lost well over four strokes around and on the green but isn’t nearly that bad. So, with expected lower ownership tomorrow and his ball-striking intact, he should be able to climb the leaderboard quite fast in the third round.
- Harold Varner ($7,800):Â After an awful day tee to green in round one, where he last 2.37 strokes, losing strokes in all three tee to green stats, but bounced back in a flurry today, gaining strokes in all three and a total of 4.11 on the day. He’ll tee off roughly the same time in round three as he did in round two and should bring a ton of momentum with him over the weekend.
- Sahith Theegala ($7,200):Â In his short time on tour, the one crutch of Theegala’s game has been his erraticness off the tee. But, thru two rounds, he’s gained just about two strokes. But, his irons, which are typically a strength, haven’t looked good, and neither has his putter. So, a bit of room for improvement in those categories over the weekend should allow him to climb the board quickly in round three.
- Kiradech Aphinbarnrat $6,400): One of the four Monday qualifiers this week, Kiradech didn’t have a good putting day on Thursday. But, he was seen grinding for hours on the putting green after his round by me. It paid off as he gained over two strokes on the day, easily getting him thru the cut. Now, if he could find a few more fairways in round three, hitting only 57% of the week, he should be able to let the strengths of his game excel. He’s playing with limited status this year, so any solid finish will go a long way.
