Round 3 DraftKings Showdown PGA DFS Picks for the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic

Previous Round Recap

Morning Wave

There were a couple of big changes to Round 2 today as the winds were much more significant, and the golfers were playing the ball down, as opposed to Thursday. Those couple of changes pushed the scoring average up a couple of strokes, which was noticeable right away. Jordan Spieth, one of the overnight leaders, struggled with the short putts today, missing at least three inside of 5 feet. He would do enough, though, to scrap out a 70, putting him three back of K.H. Lee, who shot his second straight solid round. The big mover on the round was Patton Kizzire, who shot an 8-under 64, while Matt Kuchar put his second straight mid-60s score on the board, and sits at 11-under through two rounds.

Afternoon Wave

Though all of them are chasing the hottest golfer on the planet right now, Sam Burns, who shot a career-best 62 on Friday and has a two-shot lead heading into the weekend. Doc Redman is also finding form here on the easy track in Dallas, and J.J. Spaun backed up his solid 63 in Round 1 with a 69 in Round 2. Carlos Ortiz made one of the biggest jumps in the afternoon wave, shooting a 6-under 66.

Round 3 Byron Nelson PGA DFS Showdown Picks

  • Bryson DeChambeau ($10,300) With Spieth coming in as the highest-priced golfer, it’s easy to go and get either DeChambeau or Rahm and use their discounted price. Both are playing superbly off the tee — ranking No. 1 and 2 on the week — with Bryson gaining over two strokes per round, so even pairing them together and looking for a blistering round from each of them isn’t out of the question.
  • Carlos Oritz ($8,000) A couple of eagles in Round 1 helped him scrape together a solid round, but in Round 2, Ortiz had all parts of his game going. I’ve talked at length this week about how Ortiz seemed to have it going through 53 holes last week, so it’s not all that surprising to see him playing well again here this week.
  • Brandt Snedeker ($7,600) It was another solid round for Snedeker on Friday, who has only made one bogey through 36 holes. He’s gained at least a half a stroke with his irons in each of the first two rounds, and hasn’t really putted that great yet. Maybe Saturday will be the day he does.

Sneaky Pick for Round 3 Showdown Lineups

  • Hank Lebioda ($6,800) It has been a couple of starts in a row now where Hank has gotten it going, for at least a couple of rounds. I’m sure he’ll still be flying under the radar for the greater majority, but the approach game is on fire right now, gaining over 1.5 strokes with his approaches in each of the first two rounds. The putter has also cooperated in both rounds, which is a great combo for such an event.

DraftKings and FanDuel Fill-Ins for the Byron Nelson

  • Daniel Berger ($9,400)
  • K.H. Lee ($7,500)
  • Cam Champ ($7,300)
