Top PGA DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel

These golfers will have anywhere between 20% and 50% allocation.

Justin Thomas ($11,200 DraftKings/$12,000 FanDuel)

Since his breakthrough season in 2017, Thomas has only gone longer than 32 weeks without a win once. He is at 31 weeks right now, and top-end form is not far off, coming in the top five twice in his last four events. He also liked this course enough to come back for a second straight year after coming in 12th on his inaugural trip last year. It is not ideal to have the two top plays be the highest-salaried golfers in the field, but both are lining up great this week.

Viktor Hovland ($10,900 DraftKings/$11,700 FanDuel)

The second half of the equation, Hovland has not been quite as well as Thomas but does have three top-18s in his last four starts, including a fourth-place finish. It is not possible to play everyone over $9,500 this week, and Hovland is better than Abraham Ancer at similar prices and ownerships. Tony Finau fits in right in between these two in terms of allocation.

Aaron Wise ($9,600 DraftKings/$11,000 FanDuel)

Finally, Wise gets the bump in salary that he is deserved and ultimately will lower exposure from the past few weeks. Still, he is one of the top-10-owned golfers in the pool instead of the No. 1 highest. His iron play has been one of the best in the world over this span, and his new style of putting has also been working. Maybe this is the week it all comes together for his second win on the PGA Tour.

Rickie Fowler ($8,600/$9,900 FanDuel)

The FOMO meter is high with this pick. Fowler was one of the 10 most owned golfers in the pool at the Shriners, where he missed the cut on the number, only to bounce back and almost win the CJ Cup the following week. In that time between events, he visited Butch Harmon, an advisor to Fowler throughout his career. He reaffirmed to Fowler that what he was working on was the right thing, and that seemed to give Fowler the confidence he needed. He is paired up with Thomas for the first two rounds to boot, which should make him feel like he is on vacation rather than fighting for a spot in the Masters and the Players.

Joaquin Niemann ($7,800 DraftKings/$9,200 FanDuel)

The price is too good to pass up here. Niemann’s form is OK, but playing the two highest-owned golfers forces a bunch of mid- to high-priced golfers in the pool. Among them, Niemann’s ceiling at this price brings him to the top of the list.

Gary Woodland ($7,600 DraftKings/$8.900 FanDuel)

The problems for Woodland have been talked about at length, as he is going through a whole host of injuries. When healthy, he can be one of the best players in the game, with great ball striking and elite around-the-green work. The putter has always been the issue but helped him to a top 10 last time out. That could spill confidence over to this week, where he came in second back in 2016. Price and ownership also match up, making this an easy decision to play him this week.

PGA Picks Under or at $7,000

While no golfer under $7,000 will be in the core this week, they will be a part of aggressive builds, with two or more golfers priced under $7,000 in the lineup and many of them being owned around 12-15% found in the Fringe section.
