The Masters 2022 Fantasy Golf Tournament Guide & PGA DFS Preview

Debutants (14)

A year after only three golfers made their tournament debut; we’ve got 14 this year! While that number is undoubtedly high, it brings the averages right back to normal after a down year last year. Many solid names on this list will look to replicate Will Zalatoris’ success here last year as a first-timer.

  1. Harry Higgs

    • Age & Birthplace: 29/USA
    • How They Qualified: 4th place finish at the PGA Championship

    • Quick Notes: Known to some as “Big Beautiful, ” Higgs has a unique style, and it’s beloved by all. His play this year hasn’t been great, but as he showed last year at the PGA Championship, he doesn’t shy away from the spotlight.
  2. Guido Migliozzi

    • Age & Birthplace: 25/Italy
    • How They Qualified: Tie for fourth at the U.S. Open
    • Recent Form:

    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,200
    • Quick Notes: A slippery slope for the young Italian, who almost won the U.S. Open last year, coming in fourth. For a time on the back nine, he was in a position to post a number but ultimately settled a bit off Jon Rahm’s winning score. Since then he’s only managed one top-10 in 20 starts.
  3. Cam Davis

    • Age & Birthplace: 27/Australia
    • How They Qualified: Won the Rocket Mortgage Classic
    • Recent Form:

    • Quick Notes: The talented Aussie broke through last year at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. But like Migliozzi above, it hasn’t been great since, with just one top-10 in 18 starts since the win.
  4. Garrick Higgo

    • Age & Birthplace: 22/South Africa
    • How They Qualified: Won the Palmetto Championship
    • Recent Form:
      • MC
      • MC

    • Masters Form:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,300
    • Quick Notes: A bit of a trend here, as the 22-year-old from South Africa has gone 23 starts without a top-10 since he won at the Palmetto Championship. That is not far from Augusta National but hardly a similar layout. Higgo will be looking to turn his fortunes around this week.
  5. K.H. Lee

    • Age & Birthplace: 30/South Korea
    • How They Qualified: Won the Bryon Nelson
    • Recent Form:
      • 55

    • Masters Form:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,200
    • Quick Notes: The upside hasn’t quite been there for Lee lately, but consistency has been making his last 11 cuts and 16 of his last 17. Only one of those made cuts yielded a top-10, all the way back at the 3M Open, but nothing inside of the top 20 this calendar year.
  6. Sepp Straka

    • Age & Birthplace: 28/Austria
    • How They Qualified: Won the 2022 Honda Classic
    • Recent Form:

      • Best 2022 Finish: 1st at the Honda Classic
    • Masters Form:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,600
    • Quick Notes: A solid PGA Tour competitor for a few years, he finally found the breakthrough at the Honda Classic this year, getting his first PGA Tour victory. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Straka should have some fans out there this week, and is in good form. He should make for a solid option to add to the lineups this week.
  7. Min Woo Lee

    • Age & Birthplace: 23/Australia
    • How They Qualified: Top 50 OWGR on Dec. 31, 2021

      • MC
      • MC
      • Best 2022 Finish: Tie for 4th at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship
    • Masters Form:

    • Statistical Profile:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,500
    • Quick Notes: While winning the Scottish Open last year didn’t earn him a trip to this year’s Masters, it provided the steppingstone for it. After that win, and through the end of the season, Lee picked up four top-10s and three top-fives and was inside the top 50 of the OWGR. Since that fourth-place finish in his homeland of Australia, his play hasn’t been great but did play better than some expected at least weeks WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.
  8. Lucas Herbert

    • Age & Birthplace: 26/Australia
    • How They Qualified: Won the 2021 Bermuda Championship
    • Recent Form:
      • 18
      • 68
      • 7
      • Best 2022 Finish: Tie for 7th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational
    • Masters Form:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,400
    • Quick Notes: Another young Aussie, the third making their tournament debut this year, comes in playing some of his best golf of the season. A tie for seventh at the Arnold Palmer a few weeks ago and just missing out on advancing last week, Herbert will look to make the best of his form this week at the Masters.
  9. Tom Hoge

    • Age & Birthplace: 32/USA
    • How They Qualified: Won the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
    • Recent Form:
      • 58
      • 33
      • 32
      • Best 2022 Finish: 1st at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
    • Masters Form:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,700
    • Quick Notes: For the last few years, Tom Hoge has been a bit of an oddity. His stats always looked solid, but top-end results weren’t following. But he stuck with it, continued to play solid golf, and kept his PGA Tour Card. Then the breakthrough for the 32-year-old, winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Since then he’s managed to make four of five cuts, with his best finish being a tie for 14th at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
  10. Talor Gooch

    • Age & Birthplace: 30/USA
    • How They Qualified: Won the 2022 RSM Classic.

    • Masters Form:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $8,700
    • Quick Notes: Towards the end of last year, Gooch’s stock was rising. Starting with the Fortinet Championship, running through the WWT Championship at Mayakoba, Gooch came in the top 10 twice and 11th place the other two times. That led to his first PGA Tour win at the RSM Classic. Since then, he’s added six top-28s but also three missed cuts.
  11. Sam Burns

    • Age & Birthplace: 25/USA
    • How They Qualified: Won the 2022 Valspar Championship
    • Recent Form:

    • Masters Form:
      • N/A
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon

    • Quick Notes: The odds favorite for top debutant, Burns is one of a few golfers coming into the week off of a win. It was his third in the last year, winning the Valspar twice and the Sanderson Farms in between. He’s also plenty of other quality starts, which has pushed him up to the 10th highest-ranked player in the world.
  12. Harold Varner III

    • Recent Form:
      • 18

    • Masters Form:
      • N/a
    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,200
    • Quick Notes: A breakout season for the Tour rookie as Young has a number of big finishes, including a second at the Genesis Invitational. He’s superb off the tee, which should aid him well this week.

    • Bet for the Week: Coming Soon
    • DFS Salary for the Millionaire Maker on DraftKings: $6,200
    • Quick Notes: Power has always been touted as a high-quality prospect but didn’t really have it in the beginning of his career. However, last year’s breakout win at an alternate field event led him to a run of good golf that got him into his first-ever Masters’ tournament.
