PGA DFS: Opening Remarks
PGA DFS: Six weeks into the tour season, we have just one golfer that hasn’t competed in the last seven weeks, and that’s Adam Scott. The last time we saw him was a win at his home Australian PGA Championship. On the other side, there are three golfers that have competed six times: Martin Trainer, Chez Reavie and Matt Kuchar. Nineteen others have competed five times, including Patrick Reed, Sung Kang, Lanto Griffin, Cameron Smith and Tony Finau.Â
PGA DFS Recent Form
Just a reminder, we are looking at the last 11 weeks of competition.
PGA DFS Positives
- Only three golfers have a minimum of four starts and come inside the top 25 in all of them: Finau, Jon Rahm and Collin Morikawa. Branden Grace and Max Homa have four top-25s in five starts, while it took Matt Kuchar six starts to do the same.
- Finau and Rahm have four top-10’s in the last 11 weeks, while Grace, Justin Thomas and Reed have three. Thirteen others have earned a top-10 at least twice in the last 11 weeks, including Smith, Griffin, Justin Rose, Marc Leishman, Abraham Ancer, Matt Jones and Jason Day.Â
- Seven other golfers have done it twice, including Adam Long, Vaughn Taylor and Dustin Johnson.Â
- Thirty-one golfers in the field have made all of their cuts in the last 11 weeks, and only Rory McIlroy has played once, while all others have at least two starts. Homa, Morikawa, Sungjae Im, Patrick Cantlay, Paul Casey and Talor Gooch all have at least four starts.
- Four golfers have come inside the top 10 in each of their last two starts: Ancer, Rahm, Finau and Bubba Watson. Â
PGA DFS Negatives
- Trainer hasn’t even come close to making a cut this year, and the only time he finished a tournament was the no-cut event in Maui. He’s missed five straight. Kyle Stanley, Harold Varner III, Chris Stroud, Scott Brown, Ryan Armour and Roger Sloan have all missed four consecutive cuts.
- Thirty-two golfers with at least two starts have not come in the top 25. J.J. Spaun, Jimmy Walker, Jim Herman, Dylan Frittelli, Sam Ryder and Jason Dufner all have four or more starts with no top-25s.
