The biggest PGA golf event of the year — The 2022 Masters — is underway, and the world’s #1 ranked player is here to play. He caught a break of the wind dying down on his back nine, and he took advantage of every single shot out there. He’s just the 6th golfer in the history of the tournament to hold a five-shot lead thru 36 holes; four of the five ended up winning the event. But, regardless of his five-shot lead, there are still 51 other golfers left after the cut and still huge PGA DFS contests for the third round. This article will go over a few stats from round two and a few picks for the third-round slate.
PGA DFS Golf Picks Today: The Masters Round 3
Round 2 Recap
Morning Wave
As winds were expected to pick up throughout the day, the morning wave had a great chance to set the pace. But, conditions were difficult regardless of tee time, and overnight leader Sungjae Im failed to advance his score, shooting a second-round 73. Charl Schwartzel, former masters champion, would have the round of the morning, shooting a three-under 69, tying Im at the mark, and many thought that would be the lead at the end of the day. Other stars like Dustin Johnson and Patrick Cantlay would also go in the opposite direction in round two, failing to advance their position. Other notable rounds came from Jordan Spieth, who was one-under for the day heading into the 12th hole, and it got the better of him AGAIN, hitting two in the water en route to a triple bogey. He’d double the last to miss the cut by two; his first-ever missed cut at the event. In all, 13 under-par rounds were shot on the day, with just four of them coming from the morning wave.
Afternoon Wave
While this wave inevitably belonged to Scheffler, Justin Thomas made a bid for best round of the day as he bounced back to form with his approaches, gaining over five strokes on the day en route to a five-under 67. It moved him up 60 spots on the leaderboard and now sits in the top 10 heading into the weekend. Shane Lowry would also navigate the treacherous conditions and put fantastic display from tee to green, gaining over six trokes on the day. Ranging champion Hideki Mastuayama would also spark to form, shooting a three-under 69, and is in position yet again heading into the final 36 holes at Augusta.

Best PGA DFS Picks Today for The Masters DraftKings Showdown
Winds are not supposed to be as high in round three as they were in round two, but temperatures will be noticeably cooler, with highs reaching just the low 60s. Conditions should be difficult yet again.
Jon Rahm ($9,900)
The season for Rahm has been below standard, at least in his eyes, but really only with the putter. The ball striking has looked superb, especially off the tee. But this week, that’s not the case, at least thru two rounds, losing .15 strokes. So, if that returns to form in round three and his putter warms up just a little bit, Rahm could make a quick move up the leaderboard on moving Saturday. If he does, he’ll do it relatively low owned as well.
Russell Henley ($7,700)
It was a strange few days for Henley, who is finding a ton of fairways thru two rounds and has had some big-time blow-up holes. With four doubles in just two rounds, it’s no secret as to why Henley is sitting at three over. But, making the weekend yet again here at Augusta, he’s got the iron game to go low tomorrow and get himself into the mix for a top 10. He’s had a strong season, especially with the irons, and they should pick up over the weekend.
Sepp Straka ($7,000)
The solid year continues for the Austrian, as Straka played very solidly in both rounds, getting thru the first two rounds at two-over-par. He hasn’t done anything overly exciting, but also nothing poor either, gaining at least a half a stroke with his putter, around the green, and approaches. But, his OTT work will need some, hitting just about 50% of his fairways thru two rounds. If that picks up, he could challenge for a top 10 this weekend.
Cameron Davis ($6,600)
In his first go-around Augusta, Davis needed to play his last six holes at four-under just to make the cut, and he did just that. It capped a six birdie performance a day after he made none in round one. He now should play with even more freedom and be aggressive as he likes to do. His irons look good, as does his putter thru two rounds, and now he just needs his driver to pick up some steam.
