PGA DFS Round 2 Recap
The better golfers were on the Nicklaus course today, so that ended up pushing that course to the easiest of the day! Still, each course averaged at least 1.6 under par.
- La Quinta: 69.2
- Nicklaus: 68.92
- Stadium: 70.63
Strokes gained information was only available for the stadium course, so our information is quite partial. I’ll do my best to decipher the info.
PGA DFS Statistical AnalysisÂ
- Course abbreviations as follows
- La Quinta: LQ
- Nickalus: NC
- Stadium: SC
- *First round course listed first, a second-round course listed second)
First, we’ll start with the golfers that played the Stadium Course, and take a look the strokes gained info. Sebastian Munoz had a good day off the green, gaining almost four strokes ball striking, but lost just about a stroke and a half with his putter. Luke List lost almost three strokes with the putter, while Doug Ghim lost 1.2. Kevin Na rounds out the top five golfers for rounds two’s SG: BS vs. Putting, as NA gained 2.7 strokes more ball-striking than with the flat stick.
Moving to the other golfers in the field, Tony Finau leads the field in greens and regulations, and trails only Andrew Landry in the number of birdies for the week, having made 14. Sungjae Im, Paul Casey, & Brendan Steele all trail Finau by just 1 green in regulation, hitting over 83% over the first two days.

PGA DFS Round 3 PicksÂ
Top-10 Pick
Most of the top 10 will be heading to the hardest of the three courses, which should shake up the showdown contests. Cameron Davis is the only one in the top 10 right now that is heading to La Quinta, which should make him quite an interesting play. Andrew Landry heads to the Nicklaus course along with Ted Potter, & Chase Seiffert. I like all three, but I will speak about Potter.
Ted Potter ($6,300)
Ted’s form is continuing from the Sony Open, as he caught fire mid-round today, going five under in a four-hole stretch. He heads to the Nicklaus course tomorrow which has shown it’s yielding plenty of birdies. I suspect the Wizard to make his fair share tomorrow.
PGA DFS Stud or Value Pick outside of Top 10
Alex Noren ($8,200)
This is one of the easiest plays of the session, as Noren heads to the easiest course off of a day where he gained three strokes from tee to green. His putter is also heating up, sinking a long one on the first hole today, en route to gaining .34 on the day. With the highest chance of a birdie streak coming at this course and his game in good form, I’ll be riding Noren for the rest of the weekend.
Sneaky Pick Outside of Top 10
Kevin Na ($6,800)
Na, who withdrew from last week’s event, continued his good iron play yesterday and just needs the putter to wake up. A guy that just won a tournament with just his putting, losing strokes tee to green, that’s a good sign for a guy heading to the easiest course on Saturday. Look for NA to jolt up the leaderboard.
PGA DFS Lineup Fill-InsÂ
Brendan Todd ($8,300)
Harris English ($7,600)
Ben Martin ($6,100)
