PGA DFS Round 2 Recap and Sweatsheet
Something happened while I was in the air today when I left, -6 was in the lead, and two hours leader, -11 held it, and it wasn’t Rory. Bryson Dechambeau went on a run and made everything, and showed how good he could be when everything is on. Beyond him, it’s a packed leaderboard, with Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, & more trial by just a couple of shots. None closer than Villian of the tour Patrick Reed, who sits one back.

Statistical Analysis: Round 2Â
Hideki Matsuyama was on fire from the get-go, gaining over a five-stroke tee to green on the round. He had a lukewarm putter, gaining .8 strokes and still was able to shot a -6. Erik Van Rooyen also continued the hot form, yesterday it was around the green, but today it was his approaches, and around the green again.
Love him or hate him, Byron Dechambeau is doing something right. Yet another day where he gained almost 1.5 strokes off the tee, and while that didn’t lead the field, he’s consistently in the top five—every round.
Ben An was able to match the field putting in round two, incredibly, but still averages seven strokes more ball-striking than he does putting. Sung Kang, Lanto Griffin, Tyrell Hatton, & Pablo Larrazabal round out the top 5.

PGA DFS Third -Round Picks and StrategyÂ
Top-10 Pick
Sebastian Munoz ($7,800)
It’s easy to pick Bryson, or Reed, or Matsuyama, or Thomas, or Rory, and if you want me to rank them…
Thomas, Matsuyama, Rory, Bryson, Reed…
But, Munoz has continued to perform at a high level. He’s a bit overpriced, so I’m hoping that should keep ownership low. The only thing im worried about is the wind kicking up, and it affected him to the point where it would be better to go to others that sit just outside of the top 10 teeing off a bit earlier.
Stud or Value Pick Outside of Top 10
Lanto Griffin ($6,800)
Two straight rounds gaining over 2.5 strokes with his approaches, for a total of five in the first two rounds, Griffin has his distances and irons dialed in. His putting, however, not so much. Even his around the green game has been poor, but still, he’s in position to get himself another top 10. I’ve backed him a good bit this year, and when he’s in form with his irons, it doesn’t leave him. Let’s bet on a hot putter in round 3.
Sneaky Pick Outside of Top 10
Zach Murray ($6,400)
A guy I talked up quite a bit in the pre-tourney content, the 22-year-old from Australia, has been quite impressive. His irons have been good both rounds, getting better in round 2. We don’t know much about him, so I suspect his ownership to remain low, and if the irons continue to get better, then he will be good low owned play.
PGA DFS Lineup Fill-InsÂ
Paul Casey ($8,800)
Matthias Schwab ($7,300)
Sungjae Im ($8,300)Â
