Tournament Update

DraftKings is offering $10,000 to first for the third-round slate and $2,000 for the late-round slate. The lock is 11:04 for the main slate.

Saturday Weather

The run of great weather since the Sony Open should continue on Saturday. A tad chilly right in the morning.

PGA DFS Round 2 Recap

J.B. Holmes continued his hot form in round two, this time though with the putter and his around the green work, taking care of the par 5s. Wyndham Clark & Billy Horschel weren’t able to keep pace but sit just one and two back, respectively. Byeong Hun An had a late day surge, as he rises to third place on the leaderboard, tied with Horschel, and within shouting distance of the lead.

The studs start at eight under, with Xander Schauffele, & Webb Simpson, followed by Jon Rahm at seven under. Justin Thomas & Collin Morikawa aren’t out of it by any stretch, at -6. Morikawa’s elite iron game, especially if this pace keeps up, is out once again, gaining 4.7 strokes over the first two rounds on his approaches. Thomas has yet to really find his approach game, hoping to catch fire tomorrow and get back into the tournament.

PGA DFS Statistical Analysis

Charley Hoffman made a birdie on 18 to slide in at -1, but you wouldn’t know it by his putting, losing 2.5 on the day, while gaining 3.77 strokes ball striking. Webb Simpson was able to find his stroke in round two gaining 2.15, but still sits second in the SG: BS vs. SG: P category, behind Hoffman. Corey Conners, Scott Piercy, & Grayson Murray round out the top 5.

Unusual names when we flip it around, look at the guys that are putting great but can’t find any ball striking include Bud Cauley, J.T. Poston, Chesson Hadley, & Daniel Berger.

Lastly, Morikawa, Holmes, & Clark all have 14 birdies, while five others have 12, including a few names we haven’t mentioned, Nate Lashley, Adam Long, & Branden Grace.

PGA DFS Third-Round Picks

Top-10 Pick

Branden Grace ($8,300)

If you start off with him and Colin, you’ve got a great balanced lineup. Throw in two seven thousand or below golfers, and you can add in the two studs you’d like. Grace seems to love this course, and his irons ticked up a bit today, gaining over a stroke with them. If he can avoid the bogeys this week, he’ll be in out on Sunday when it matters.

PGA DFS Stud or Value Pick Outside of Top 10

Collin Morikawa ($9,100)

Playing with Justin Thomas ($10,000) tomorrow at 9:48 local time, a full hour and 14 minutes before the leaders, these can go out and make a splash. They’ll likely be thru 5 holes or so, and can easily be at double digits with the easy third looming. If they get it going early, you’ll want them both on your roster and hope for the draft pairing effect. Sixty-four should be in both of their minds on the first tee tomorrow.

Sneaky Pick Outside of Top 10

Pat Rodgers ($7,000)

Pat has found a little bit of a groove here these last couple of weeks, and if he could just get his irons to tick up a little bit, he should be in great shape. He’s gained over four strokes off the tee in the first two rounds while gaining on both putting and around the green.

PGA DFS Lineup Fill-Ins

Keith Mitchell ($6,300)

Doc Redman ($6,500)

Brandon Hagy ($6,200)
