DFS Sweatsheet

Friday Weather

Round One Commentary

The stars of the show had the worst of the weather in round 1, with both Patrick Cantlay & Justin Thomas struggled to get it going. JT did eagle 18 to get it under par, and Cantlay managed to scrap it around at three-under, but both pale in comparison to Adam Scott. He was able to gain over two strokes putting on the round, and any time that happens with Adam Scott, you better believe he’s going to shot a good score. Francesco Molinari was even hotter with his putter in round one, gaining over 3.75 strokes on the day, only getting edged out by Peter Malnati in the category.

These next few golfers didn’t have the same fate on the greens as the last two guys, but struck the ball well, and lead the pivotal SG: BS vs.  SG: Putting.

Round Two Showdown Picks

Top-10 Pick

It’ll be really interesting to see if gamers, who only drafted Francesco Molinari about 7% of the time in week-long, are willing to go to him now in round two. If not, I’m ok riding this wave as I expect his off the tee game, where he lost .6 strokes today, to get better as the week progresses. Cameron Champ also gained strokes in every facet except for putting in round one and has me very intrigued heading into round two.

Stud or Value Pick outside of the Top 10

Chez Reavie ($9,200)

With Cantlay and JT going out early in the morning, they will likely be quite popular and should be. That, however, will create some ownership blips for some of the other higher priced golfers going out in the afternoon, and Reavie will be one of them. A solid round one opening up with a three-under 69, gaining 2.56 strokes with his approaches, has me excited for what’s to come.

Sneaky Pick Outside of top-10

Chase Seiffert ($6,300)

I’ve written about this guy a couple of times this fall season, and after a solid round 1, where he gained a combined three strokes between his off the tee game and putting, has me buying into the tour rookie. He goes out early in the morning as well, so it will be a nice blend with some of the afternoon guys I recommended above.

Lineup Fill-Ins

Patrick Cantlay ($9,700)

Bud Cauley ($7,600)

Adam Hadwin ($7,300)

Si-woo Kim ($6,900)
