The Fit & Form Guide for The Memorial | DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS

During the 10-week hiatus, we worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most essential elements when building out DFS lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the PGA DFS Fit & Form guide for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Recent Form Since the Return of Play (Charles Schwab)

Opening Remarks:

Twenty golfers have played all five weeks since the return of play, while eight golfers, including Tiger Woods, are making their first appearance. Others are Haotong Li, Bernd Wiesberger, David Lingmerth, William McGirt, Matthias Schwab and Jason Scrivener.

Positives

  • Eight Golfers have multiple Top 10s since play has returned. They are Bryson DeChambeau (four), Justin Thomas (three), Daniel Berger, Webb Simpson, Collin Morikawa, Gary Woodland and Kevin Streelman.
  • Only Viktor Hovland has come inside the Top 25 all five weeks since the return, including last week’s third-place finish. Lucas Glover joins Abraham Ancer, Xander Schauffele, Doc Redman and Rory Sabbatini as the  golfers other than the ones above with at least three Top 25s since the return of play.
  • Twelve golfers have competed at least three times since the return and made every cut. Those golfers not already named include Rory McIlroy, Joaquin Niemann, Adam Hadwin and Ian Poulter.
  • Eighteen golfers have made a paycheck in every start since the return of play, including Hadwin, Niemann, Glover, Redman, Poulter and Tyler Duncan.

Negatives

  • Ninety-six golfers are still searching for their first Top 10 in the last five weeks, including some big names like McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, Marc Leishman and plenty more. That number shrinks to 60 golfers when stretching it out to the Top 25, including big names like Jon Rahm and Louis Oosthuizen.
  • Only Kevin Tway has competed all five weeks and has yet to make a paycheck. Jimmy Walker and Nate Lashley are 0-for-4, while Cameron Smith and Ryan Moore are 0-for-3. Sebastian Munoz, Tom Hoge and Xinjun Zhang have all missed four of their five cuts.

Course History at Muirfield Village Golf Club

There is plenty of data for this week’s course, including last week’s Workday Charity Open. In fact, there are 18 golfers in the field that have competed in all six events here at Muirfield Village over the last six years.

Positives

  • Only Streelman has made every cut in the last six events here, including five Top 20s. He, along with Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, are the only ones with three Top 10s. Thirteen others have at least two Top 10s here, including Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Kevin Kisner and McIlroy. Tony Finau has three Top 15s here, but only one Top 10.
  • Sixteen golfers have competed at least three times and made every single cut here, including Niemann, DeChambeau, Woods, Oosthuizen, Glover, Patrick Reed, Brendan Steele and Shane Lowry.
  • Matsuyama, Schauffele, Byeong Hun An and Justin Rose all have come inside the Top 25 in at least 67% of their starts here, joining a few of the other golfers we already mentioned.

Negatives

  • Ernie Els is the only golfer to tee it up at least three times at the Memorial and not earn a paycheck. A few others like Carlos Ortiz, Carl Pettersson, Cameron Smith, Charl Schwartzel, Jim Furyk and even Justin Thomas have missed three cuts. But none have missed more than Danny Lee and Jason Kokrak who have missed four cuts in the last six tournaments here.
  • Vaughn Taylor and Charles Howell III have yet to come in the Top 25 here at Muirfield Village. The same goes for Keith Mitchell, Sung Kang, Kevin Tway and Scott Piercy.

Fit & Form

Now that we’ve covered both course history and recent form, let’s see if we can find any crossovers, either negative or positive.

  • Cantlay leads this one again as he made another cut and came in the Top 10 again.
  • Streelman continues to be impressive here at Muirfield Village and with his overall recent form as well.
  • Niemann has been consistent since the return of play and has yet to miss a cut here at The Memorial.
  • DeChambeau comes in with tons of confidence and a win already under his belt here.
