Looking for a way to learn PGA DFS without jumping in with both feet? We have a perfect solution for you. This year Yahoo and Yahoo Fantasy are offering a $10,000 freeroll called the PGA “Yahoo Cup.” This contest awards a winner for weekly events and one winner at the end of the season who has the most cumulative points. That winner will receive $1,000. Ultimately, winning the Yahoo Cup comes down to picking the right golfers. Today I will provide my top three value PGA DFS picks based on Yahoo salary, a couple of lineup fill-ins and two different fantasy golf lineup variations for making PGA picks this week at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
Transparency Corner
Right or wrong, it is important to keep track of how the picks performed the week prior. Here are the players and my corresponding lineup from the 3M Open:
- Robert MacIntyre (Missed Cut)
- Dylan Frittelli (Missed Cut)
- Luke List (28th)
Top Three Value Picks for the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational
Paul Casey ($33)
A trio of Englishmen are some of the best values on this week’s slate. Casey is on a fantastic run of golf that does not include a win. But at this salary, he does not need to win to provide a solid return. Somewhere inside the top 20 will pay off the salary, and he has only failed to accomplish that once in the last six starts.
Matthew Fitzpatrick ($33)
Fitzpatrick fell just short at the Scottish Open, and that performance could be eclipsed this week. He performed incredibly well each of the first two times he has played this course. If he gains strokes with accuracy off the tee and adds solid iron play and a better-than-average putter, he could get his first PGA Tour win.
Tommy Fleetwood ($27)
Fleetwood showed some of his upside at the Olympics over the weekend, shooting 7 under on Saturday and birdieing nine holes. With over a quarter of the field at the minimum salary ($20) this week, there will be plenty of stars-and-scrubs builds. These guys may get lost in the shuffle a bit, making them less popular than they should be.

- Brooks Koepka ($42)
- Cameron Smith ($30)
- Scottie Scheffler ($36)
PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Builds
Aggressive Build
To really stack the top of the board, sub in Sergio Garcia for either Fitzpatrick or Casey; that should provide the salary flexibility. Garcia was the best player tee to green a few weeks ago at the 3M Open, but he was equally bad with his putter. However, at the minimum salary, he needs just one good round with the flat stick to provide value.
Conservative Build
Going with all three of the top suggested values this week still leaves plenty of salaries to get at least one or two studs.
