Looking for a way to learn PGA DFS without jumping in with both feet? We have a perfect solution for you. This year, Yahoo and Yahoo Fantasy are offering a $10,000 freeroll called the “Yahoo Cup.” This contest awards a winner for weekly events and one winner at the end of the season who has the most cumulative points. That winner will receive $1,000. Ultimately, winning the Yahoo Cup comes down to picking the right golfers. Today I will provide my top three value PGA DFS picks based on Yahoo salary, a couple of lineup fill-ins and two different lineup variations for building lineups this week at the PGA Championship.

Transparency Corner
Right or wrong, it’s important to keep track of how the picks performed the week prior. Here are the players and my corresponding lineup from the previous week.

- Luke List (61st)
- Keith Mitchell (26th)
Top Three Values for The PGA Championship
Shane Lowry ($21)
Lowry, the reigning Open Champion, has dramatically improved his major performances over the last few years. Those include his win at the Open Championship and couple other top-25s. At this salary, that’s all he would need to pay off, and it should allow gamers to remain aggressive through the lineup.
Matt Wallace ($20)
Wallace has quietly been putting together some quality golf this year, and it has given him a chance to join the PGA Tour full-time next year. He has been adamant about that being a big goal of his, and a top-10 this week should just about lock it up. He has also made the cut in each of the last seven majors, showing his level of determination is quite high. Wallace gets down on himself at times, but the results recently have come with a significantly better attitude. He is also the minimum salary this week, which should open the door up top quite well.
Wallace also has the third-highest point projection of any golfer under the $21 salary mark this week, behind Lowry and Keegan Bradley. Check out the full set of Awesemo PGA DFS projections.
Jordan Spieth ($36)
While it is not common for a golfer with this high a salary to make this list, Spieth’s value is fantastic this week. He sits slightly above the average salary, but in the odds market he is one of the top five favorites to win the event. It is hard to pass that up, and as long as he is paired with both Wallace and Lowry, there should still be plenty of room to get a few more studs in the lineup.
PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Fill-ins
- Rory McIlroy ($46)
- Viktor Hovland ($43)
- Cameron Smith ($34)
PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Builds
Aggressive Build
If you aren’t keen on rostering Spieth and would rather just get any three studs outside of the three highest-salaried golfers, then this is the way to go. Bradley has been playing just as well, if not better, than Lowry but hasn’t had as much major experience recently.
Conservative Build
The more conservative route is to go with Spieth over Bradley/Lowry and then build around him and Smith. From there, the roster should open up to get a couple of studs in the last two spots.
