Yahoo Cup PGA DFS Picks This Week: The BMW Championshp

Looking for a way to learn PGA DFS without jumping in with both feet? We have a perfect solution for you. This year Yahoo and Yahoo Fantasy are offering a $10,000 freeroll called the PGA “Yahoo Cup.” This contest awards a winner for weekly events and one winner at the end of the season who has the most cumulative points. Just four weeks left to in the season and the winner will receive $1,000 at the end of them. Ultimately, winning the Yahoo Cup comes down to picking the right golfers. Today I will provide my top three value PGA DFS picks based on Yahoo salary, a couple of lineup fill-ins and two different fantasy golf lineup variations for making PGA picks this week at the BMW Championship.

Transparency Corner

Here is the lineup I used last week with the three top values. Sadly, Adam Scott’s back nine on Friday cost him a chance at playing the weekend and subsequently held back the returns of the lineup.

Top Three Value Picks for the BMW Championship

Aaron Wise ($20)

With only 69 golfers in the field, this is the best chance to nail three minimum-salary golfers and pick any other three, starting the lineup with two premium scorers in Aaron Wise and Cameron Champ. Wise’s run of form is well documented, as he has not missed a cut since April. Since then he has been in the top 25 five times in eight appearances, including two appearances where he was in the top 25 in scoring but outside of it in terms of finishing position.

Cameron Champ ($20)

Champ had a difficult start to the season. He has elite length off the tee, but it did does not matter if someone can hit it 500 yards if they cannot get the ball in the whole. Champ’s putter and around-the-green work were both some of the worst on tour. However, a top-15 at the John Deere Classic gave some good signs, and then he suddenly won at the 3M Open. He backed up that win with a couple of decent finishes at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude and last week’s Northern Trust, giving full confidence in another good start this week.

Keegan Bradley ($20)

Bradley’s back nine on Monday cost him a top-10 at last week’s Northern Trust, but with four scores in the 60s, Bradley seems to be rounding into form. He will need a big week to reach the Tour Championship, and it would be his first time doing so since 2018 when he won this event. What is really intriguing is it seems he found a bit of a putting stroke last week, which is always the crutch of his game; he gained just over 2.5 strokes on the week. If he does that again this week, his ball striking should improve and put him near the top 10 yet again.

PGA DFS Yahoo Cup Lineup Builds

Aggressive Build

With only 70 golfers in the field this week, it will be important to differentiate. One way to do that is leave a little money on the table, so stacking these three with Jon Rahm and two others while leaving some salary left over should provide that.

Conservative Build

Taking out Wise and replacing him with Viktor Hovland still leaves plenty of salary left. While that takes away the ability to get any three golfers, with an average salary of $40 per player, two of the expensive studs and another golfer with a salary in the mid $30s are still in range.
