Austin Ekeler On The Week 14 Injury Report

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (ankle) was listed on the Week 14 injury report on Wednesday after getting in a limited practice. Ekeler is a little beat up coming off the Week 13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but he should be just fine to play this Sunday against the New York Giants. The 26-year-old do-it-all back could have an absolutely huge workload in Week 14 with both top receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen currently on the COVID-19 list. If quarterback Justin Herbert is without his top two aerial targets, he could Ekeler's way frequently out of the backfield. The Giants defense allows 122.8 rushing yards per game and the 11th-most receptions to RBs, so Ekeler will be a no-brainer elite RB1 play.

Austin Ekeler Fumbles Twice In Week 13

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler put together another solid performance for managers in a Week 13 victory versus the Cincinnati Bengals. The veteran picked up 59 yards with a touchdown on 14 carries and also caught all five of his targets for 45 yards. Despite helping managers for the most part on Sunday afternoon, he did have a couple blunders with two fumbles on the afternoon. Both fumbles were for the first on the season for Ekeler and managers should have zero worry about that becoming an issue moving forward. Even if he doesn't pick up many rushing yards or turns the ball over, Ekeler's ability to play a big role in the passing game makes him a weekly RB1. Next up for Ekeler will be a tasty matchup versus the New York Giants in Week 14.

Austin Ekeler - Week 13 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been one of the best at his position this season, but he will draw a tough matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13. The Bengals run defense has been very efficient on the year, limiting opponents to just 74 yards per game on the ground. They have also allowed just two opposing teams to go for over 100 yards. The good news is that they have allowed eight rushing touchdowns. More good news for Ekeler is that they have struggled to defend running backs in the passing game and are giving up seven receptions for 55 yards to the position. Fantasy managers know that Ekeler's bread and butter is in the passing game, and despite the fact that he may struggle to find much room on the ground, the veteran should be able to make up for it in the passing game. Entering Week 13 and beyond, Ekeler remains an RB1 in all formats, but with the playoffs slowly approaching, fantasy managers would be wise to consider insuring him with rookie running back Larry Rountree III or Justin Jacksonjust to be safe.

Austin Ekeler Continues To Find The End Zone

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler struggled on the ground with just 31 yards on 12 carries in a Week 12 loss against the Denver Broncos. Despite struggling in the run game, Ekeler made up for it through the receiving game with six receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown. Ekeler's touchdown came on a 12-yard pass from quarterback Justin Herbert in the second quarter. One of the games top running backs in the league, Ekeler has been able to help managers on a weekly basis with his ability to do major damage in the pass game. Next up for Ekeler will be a date against an underrated Cincinnati Bengals defense in Week 13.

Austin Ekeler - Week 12 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler went for 50 rushing yards, two touchdowns, six receptions and 65 yards in a Week 11 victory versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and will look to continue that success versus a tough Denver Broncos defense in Week 12. The star rusher has been one of the best at his position this season, but will face a tough Broncos defense that has been stingy versus the run game this year and has limited the position to just 92 yards per game. The Broncos have limited six opponents to under 90 yards this season, but have also shown vulnerability with three opponents going for 142 yards or more. They have also allowed just five rushing touchdowns to the position this season and are limiting pass-catching running backs to just four receptions for 37 yards per game. The Chargers lead runner makes his money in the passing game, but should still be a huge part of the offense in a tough matchup on paper. For the season, Ekeler has rushed for 573 yards with seven touchdowns to go along with 45 receptions for 405 yards and six touchdowns. No matter the matchup, managers should feel confident starting Ekeler as a RB1 on a weekly basis.

Austin Ekeler Scores Four Touchdowns In Week 11 Win

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler rushed for 50 yards on 11 carries and caught 6-of-7 targets for 65 yards to go along with four total touchdowns in Sunday's 41-37 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He became the first Charger with two rushing and two receiving touchdowns in a game and tied RB Melvin Gordon III (12) for the 2nd-most games with 50-plus rush yards and 50-plus receiving yards in the team's history. Ekeler has found the end zone an incredible 13 times over his last 10 games. The 26-year-old is a surefire RB1 against the Denver Broncos in Week 13.

Nov 19th · 04:43 PM
Austin Ekeler - Week 11 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler continues to thrive as one of the best at his position this year and things shouldn't change against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11. The Steelers defense has struggled versus the run game this year by allowing 107 yards on the ground per game. That should work to Ekeler's benefit, but the ppr monster could have a tough time in the pass game with the Steelers limiting running backs to just four receptions for 33 yards per game. Regardless, Ekeler remains one of the best and safest options at his position and should be considered a RB1 in a Sunday night matchup in Week 11.

Nov 15th · 12:28 AM
Austin Ekeler Finds End Zone In Week 10

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler rushed for 44 yards and caught three balls for 15 yards and a touchdown in a Week 10 loss versus the Minnesota Vikings. The running back has cooled off over the last couple of games, but his two-yard touchdown helped managers get a productive outing of him. Ekeler still remains one of the top running backs in all formats and continues to be a big part of the Chargers offense. Drawing a tough matchup in Week 11 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ekeler should still be considered a RB1.

Nov 12th · 02:30 PM
Austin Ekeler - Week 10 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been producing as one of the best running backs in the league this season and will look to add to his success with a Week 10 date versus the Minnesota Vikings. The good news for Ekeler is that the Vikings defense has surrendered 106 yards per game on the ground to opposing runners and are also allowing just under five receptions for 34 yards on the year. Ekeler's biggest value is in the passing game, and he should continue to be a featured part of the Chargers offense in Week 10. Fantasy managers should continue to feel safe plugging Ekeler in as an RB1 in all formats.

Nov 8th · 12:09 AM
Austin Ekeler Goes For 59 Yards In Week 9

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler continued his productive season in a Week 9 victory versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran continues to be a bell cow for the Chargers backfield and saw 17 carries for 59 yards. He also caught three balls for 23 yards. It wasn't his best performance of the season, but he was able to do enough to help managers. It was quarterback Justin Herbert's game this afternoon and he scored all three touchdowns for the Chargers. Moving forward, Ekeler will face a Minnesota Vikings defense that got torched for 247 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 and the veteran should continue to see plenty of work in Week 10. Even in a down week for Ekeler, he was still able to put up double-digit points for managers and he should be considered a RB1 on a weekly basis in all formats moving forward.

Nov 5th · 12:57 PM
Austin Ekeler - Week 9 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been one of the most efficient players at his position this season and will draw a favorable matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9. The Eagles defense has been allowing 106.62 yards per game on the ground and one touchdown. They are also allowing opposing running backs to feast as pass catchers by allowing 7.25 receptions and 49 yards per game. Both are positives for Ekeler and managers should expect him to get plenty of opportunities on Sunday. For the season, Ekeler has 420 rushing yards for five touchdowns and has caught 33 balls for 302 yards and three touchdowns. Managers can safely plug Ekeler into their lineups as a RB1 in Week 9.

Oct 31st · 11:29 PM
Austin Ekeler Finds End Zone In Week 8

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler continued his strong season in a Week 8 loss versus the New England Patriots. Ekeler rushed the balls 11 times for 64 yards and a five-yard touchdown. The veteran also continues to be a ppr monster and caught six of his 10 targets for 60 yards. A late addition to the injury report this week with a hip injury, Ekeler was able to play through the pain and put up valuable numbers for managers. As long as he remains healthy, Ekeler is capable of putting up big numbers on a weekly basis. Backing up Ekeler, veteran Justin Jackson picked up 79 yards on three carries and rookie running back Larry Rountree III recorded 11 yards on four carries. Managers would be wise to insure Ekeler with one or both of Jackson and Rountree in that order. Moving forward, Ekeler will be a RB1 in Week 9 versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

Oct 31st · 07:46 PM
Austin Ekeler Active, Joshua Kelley Out

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (hip) is active for Sunday's contest against the Patriots, while Joshua Kelley is a healthy scratch. With Ekeler active for the Chargers on the real football field, he should be active for fantasy managers in all formats because of his immense upside. Consider him a high-end RB1 as a top-five fantasy running back through the first seven weeks of action. Justin Jackson and rookie Larry Rountree III will back up Ekeler on Sunday with Kelley being a healthy scratch.

Oct 31st · 12:25 PM
Austin Ekeler Will Be Active In Week 8

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (hip) told ESPN that he will be taking the field for the team's Week 8 game against the New England Patriots. He has been dealing with hip soreness that came up in practice this past week, but the team had been hopeful over the past few days that he'd be able to play, despite his questionable tag. Ekeler should be confidently started as an RB1 in all fantasy leagues. He's coming off of his worst game of the year, but he should be heavily featured in Week 8 and he has a good chance of adding to his seven touchdowns on the year.

Oct 29th · 11:31 PM
Chargers Hopeful Austin Ekeler Can Play Sunday

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (hip) is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the New England Patriots. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that head coach Brandon Staley and the Chargers are "hopeful that he can play" on Sunday. "He just came up a little bit sore after the practice. It didn't happen during the practice. He just had a little bit of soreness in his hip. He felt much better these last two days," Staley said. It sounds as though the Chargers are just being careful with their lead back, and barring any further setback, the 26-year-old should be active on Sunday afternoon. If Ekeler is limited at all or doesn't play, Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley and rookie Larry Rountree III will all likely pitch in to form a committee against New England. Ekeler has been a top-five fantasy RB and must be started if he plays.

Oct 29th · 07:08 PM
Austin Ekeler Held Out Of Practice On Friday

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (hip) was held out of practice for the second consecutive day on Friday after he popped up on the injury report after the team's bye week. Ekeler's status is up in the air on Sunday against the New England Patriots, as it is not ideal to miss practice coming off a week of rest. If he were to be held out of action, Joshua Kelley is a name to monitor. However, it is also a strong possibility that it would be a full-blown committee approach with Larry Rountree III and Justin Jackson also getting in some work. It may be best to avoid the situation entirely if the Chargers' RB1 is out on Sunday.

Oct 29th · 01:11 PM
Austin Ekeler - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Along with the entire Chargers offense in Week 6, running back Austin Ekeler will look to return to form against the New England Patriots in Week 8. The Chargers had full week to rest and recover with their bye in Week 7 and the veteran will seek to put up big numbers for managers in Week 8. Ekeler has been one of the best at the running back position this year and has rushed for 356 yards for four touchdowns. He has also caught 27 balls for 242 yards and three touchdowns. The Patriots rushing defense has been nothing to fear this year and they are allowing 92 yards on the ground per game and more importantly for Ekeler managers, 6.5 receptions per game for 60 yards. Despite the positive matchup on paper for Ekeler, the Patriots have only allowed one rushing touchdown on the season to a running back and one receiving touchdown. The Chargers possess one of the more dangerous offenses in the league and should be motivated to put up big numbers after their poor performance in Week 6 that saw the offense get manhandled by the Baltimore Ravens and Ekeler should be a big part of that game plan. Managers should note that Ekeler was a late addition to the injury report on Thursday with a hip injury and recorded a DNP for practice. Managers should continue to keep an eye on his status for Friday and if he were to miss Week 8, rookie Larry Rountree III and Justin Jackson would likely enter into a 50/50 split with Rountree seeing more of the ground work and Jackson seeing more of the action in the passing game. As long as Ekeler is good to go, he should be treated as a RB1 in all formats.

Oct 28th · 10:46 PM
Austin Ekeler Added To Thursday's Injury Report

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (hip) was added to the Week 8 injury report on Thursday after he missed practice. Ekeler was a full participant in Wednesday's session, so this is pretty concerning. He comes off the team's Week 7 bye as the RB3 in terms of overall fantasy points with 73 carries for 356 yards and four touchdowns, also adding 27 receptions on 32 targets for 242 yards and three more scores. We'll keep you updated on the 26-year-old's injury, and his Friday practice status will be closely monitored. If Ekeler is unable to play this weekend against the New England Patriots, the Chargers would likely employ a committee approach between Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley and rookie Larry Rountree III.

Oct 17th · 08:22 PM
Austin Ekeler Has Quiet Week 6

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler struggled in a Week 6 loss against the Baltimore Ravens. Entering the game as one of the best at his position on the season, Ekeler only picked up seven yards on six carries. Despite the poor numbers on the ground, he was able to help managers a little bit in the receiving game with four receptions for 48 yards. The Chargers offense as a whole got beat up by the Ravens defense and despite the rough performance by Ekeler this afternoon, managers should chalk it up as a rare dud performance. Ekeler will have his bye in Week 7 and will face the New England Patriots in Week 8. He remains a RB1 in all formats.

Oct 15th · 05:51 PM
Austin Ekeler - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler will look to continue his strong start to the season against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6. The veteran rusher has been one of the best at his position this season and will draw a favorable matchup on Sunday. The Ravens defense is allowing 80 yards per game to opposing backfields with six touchdowns. They have also struggled against defending running backs in the passing game with the position putting up an average of six receptions for 68 yards per game. Ekeler's bread and butter is in the passing game and he should look to feast against the Ravens in Week 6. As arguably the best running back option in PPR leagues, Ekeler should be fired up as a RB1 in all formats in Week 6 and on a weekly basis.

Oct 11th · 02:58 AM
Austin Ekeler Dominant In Week 5

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler went wild during the narrow win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. He racked up 66 yards off 17 carries while adding five catches for 53 yards. However, the biggest takeaway was Ekeler's three total touchdowns on the day, with all of them taking place in the fourth quarter. The 26-year-old is responsible for seven of his team's touchdowns during the 2021 campaign and continues to be one of the most productive backs in the league, especially in PPR setups. As a result, he should continue to be a featured option in starting lineups heading into the Week 6 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Oct 8th · 01:17 PM
Austin Ekeler Remains An RB1 In Week 5

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler will look to continue his strong season with a matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. The Browns defense hasn't allowed more than 68 yards on the ground in a game this year and are allowing just three receptions for 26 yards through the air to opposing runners. Despite that, Ekeler has been having one of the best seasons of any player this year and has played a huge role in the Chargers revamped offense this season with Joe Lombardi calling the plays. For the season, Ekeler has 283 yards for two touchdowns and 18 receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Regardless of the matchup on paper, Ekeler remains a RB1 in Week 5 and on a weekly basis.

Oct 5th · 03:54 AM
Austin Ekeler Has Another Big Game In Week 4

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler put together another big performance in a Week 4 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders. The workhorse was briefly on the sideline with a potential foot injury early in the contest, but would end up not missing much time and finishing with 117 yards with one touchdown on 15 rushes. He also caught three balls for 28 yards and one touchdown. Ekeler's big game gave the Chargers their first game with 100 or more yards on the ground for the first time in 20 games. Backup rookie running back Larry Rountree III saw 11 carries on the evening and that is who Ekeler managers should look to target as an insurance policy over veteran Justin Jackson. Next up for Ekeler will be a date versus the Cleveland Browns in Week 5 and he remains a RB1 in all formats on a weekly basis.

Oct 1st · 01:26 PM
Austin Ekeler Remains An RB1 In Week 4

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been off to a strong start this season, and fantasy managers should expect that to continue in Week 4 versus the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders defense is allowing around 77 yards per game in the first three weeks of the season, but that number would be much higher without the Steelers rushing for just 39 yards in Week 2. More importantly for those in PPR leagues, the Raiders offense is allowing just under seven receptions to opposing running backs and 32 yards per game. Ekeler's bread and butter is in the passing game, and he has secured 15 receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown over his last two games. Monday's contest is expected to be a high-scoring game, and Ekeler should be expected to play a big role in the game plan. His best value is in PPR leagues, but Ekeler should be considered an RB1 in all formats in Week 4.

Sep 26th · 08:39 PM
Austin Ekeler Has Another Big Game In Week 3

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler had another big game in Week 3 versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Ekeler rushed the ball 11 times for 55 yards and caught all six of his receptions for 52 yards and one touchdown. The PPR monster had zero receptions in Week 1, but has now caught 15 balls over the last two weeks. His touchdown came on a short pass that he ran into the end zone for 16 yards to give the Chargers a 14-0 lead at the time. New offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi has continued to make Ekeler a big part of the offense as both a runner and receiver and with his ability to do it all on the field, Ekeler is shaping up to be one of the top players in the game this season. Next up will be a matchup versus the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4. Ekeler should continue to be valued as a RB1 in all formats.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
