Carlos Hyde Mixes In For 10 Touches In Week 13

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde carried nine times for 24 yards and a touchdown while adding one reception for -1 yards in the team's 37-7 Week 13 loss to the Rams. The bulk of Hyde's touches came early in the game after James Robinson lost a fumble, but Hyde went on to fumble not long after and he was relegated to his usual change of pace role after that. The veteran still has little to no standalone fantasy value, but he's worth rostering as a decent handcuff in deeper formats.

Carlos Hyde Good To Go For Week 11

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde (shoulder) practiced in full on Friday and was removed from the final injury report for Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers. Hyde was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. James Robinson (heel, knee) is listed as questionable to play, but the sense is that he'll be fine to play on Sunday after getting in two limited practices this week. Hyde was the team's lead back in Week 9 and had a season-high 21 carries for 67 yards (3.19 yards per tote) while also catching one pass for six yards. The 31-year-old veteran is averaging an underwhelming 3.8 yards per carry on 56 rushing attempts behind Robinson this year and will be useless in fantasy as long as Robinson is active.

Carlos Hyde Limited To Begin The Week

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. Lead-back James Robinson is dealing with a new heel issue and missed practice on Wednesday, but he's expected to be fine for Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers. Hyde is only worth using in starting fantasy lineups if Robinson misses time, which was the case in the Week 9 win over the Buffalo Bills. In that game, the veteran back had a season-high 21 carries for 67 yards (3.19 yards per carry) and caught a six-yard pass. Otherwise, Hyde has been an underwhelming bench stash in deeper leagues and is averaging under 4.0 yards per carry on 56 rushing attempts in eight games (two starts) this year.

Nov 14th · 04:55 PM
Carlos Hyde Likely To Remain Involved Against Indy

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde could remain involved on Sunday against Indianapolis. While James Robinson (heel) is active, head coach Urban Meyer indicated earlier in the week that despite his availability, he would likely be involved in a timeshare with Hyde, who had 21 carries for 67 yards against Buffalo. Nonetheless, this sounds like a messy situation, so fantasy managers may want to look elsewhere for options, especially since both men will be matched up against a tough Colts defense.

Carlos Hyde Fills In Well Against Buffalo

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde finished with 67 yards off 21 carries during the upset win over Buffalo in Week 9. Getting the start for the injured James Robinson (heel), the veteran performed adequately against an efficient Bills defense. With the Indianapolis Colts next on tap in Week 10, Hyde may be worth a start in deeper formats, although his outlook is contingent on Robinson's status leading up to the bout. Still, until Robinson's official designation is revealed, Hyde is worth a stash for those with room to spare.

Nov 4th · 08:45 PM
Carlos Hyde Should Be Ready For Week 9

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde (calf) was a full participant in practice on Thursday after he was limited on Wednesday. Barring a setback, Hyde should be active for the Week 9 game against the Buffalo Bills, and there's a chance that he could operate as the team's primary running back if James Robinson (heel) is unable to play this weekend. Hyde only has 33 carries for 140 yards (4.2 yards per carry) behind Robinson this year in six games, and he'd be facing an extremely stingy Bills defense, so at best, the veteran running back would be on the RB2/3 borderline for those that roster Robinson or are desperate for an RB this week.

Nov 4th · 12:06 AM
Carlos Hyde Dealing With Calf Issue

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde (calf) was just a limited practice participant on Wednesday. It's a new injury for Hyde, but it doesn't seem serious enough to keep him out this upcoming weekend against the Buffalo Bills. And with lead back James Robinson (heel) questionable to play after suffering an injury in Week 8, Hyde could be in line for an expanded role in Week 9. Dare Ogunbowale and Devine Ozigbo, who was claimed off waivers from the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, are the only other running backs on Jacksonville's active roster. Hyde hasn't seen more than nine carries in a game this year and is averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He'd be a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex with a low ceiling if Robinson is inactive this weekend against Buffalo.

Oct 14th · 08:18 PM
Carlos Hyde - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde shouldn't be a fantasy consideration in Week 6 despite facing a Miami Dolphins defense that has allowed the most PPR points in the NFL to opposing running backs. James Robinson has emerged as a dominant lead back over the last few weeks, rendering Hyde a mere change of pace option. The veteran touched the ball just five times in Week 5 and he wasn't targeted, so his role is clearly defined at this point in the season, and it's not great. Hyde is still a rosterable handcuff in most formats, but he shouldn't come near starting lineups.

Sep 30th · 11:39 PM
Carlos Hyde Inactive For Week 4

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde will be inactive for Week 4 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. The veteran was expected to play a decent sized role behind James Robinson this season and has picked up 95 yards on 19 carries this season. With Hyde inactive, Dare Ogunbowale will backup Robinson. Robinson should be considered a RB2 and expected to get the majority of carries on Thursday. Kicker Josh Lambo, cornerback Nevin Lawson, edge rusher Jordan Smith, defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris and defensive tackle Jay Tufele will also be inactive this evening.

Sep 30th · 06:30 PM
Carlos Hyde Off The Week 4 Radar

Jacksonville Jaguars veteran running back Carlos Hyde shouldn't be a fantasy consideration against the Bengals in Week 4. Hyde has settled into an early-down, change-of-pace role almost exclusively, and he has little upside. Last week the veteran turned eight carries into 44 yards and had zero targets against Arizona, but his matchup this week is tougher, as Cincinnati has allowed opposing backs just 3.0 yards per carry. Overall, Hyde isn't going to get many touches and he's unlikely to be efficient with what little volume he does get, so he's an easy fade in all formats.

Sep 26th · 10:15 PM
Carlos Hyde Totals 44 Rushing Yards Against Arizona

Jacksonville Jaguars veteran running back Carlos Hyde rushed for 44 yards on eight carries while adding nothing in the passing game in the team's Week 3 loss to Arizona. Hyde was fairly productive in this one, averaging 5.5 yards per carry, but it's clear that his role at this point is only to occasionally spell James Robinson on the early downs. Hyde has limited fantasy upside in his current role, but he does provide some handcuff value, as he would likely lead the backfield if James Robinson were to miss time.

Sep 24th · 06:10 PM
Carlos Hyde Not A Worthy Week 3 Option

Jacksonville Jaguars veteran running back Carlos Hyde is best left on fantasy benches this week as the team takes on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3. Hyde's role was reduced heavily in Week 2 after he led the team in touches in Week 3, which was somewhat expected. The veteran isn't an explosive player in a weak offense, so even if he managed to rack of a decent amount of touches after mustering only two last week, the ceiling isn't there. Fantasy managers would be wise to avoid Hyde completely in Week 3.

Sep 20th · 01:27 AM
Carlos Hyde A Non-Factor In Week 2

Jacksonville Jaguars veteran running back Carlos Hyde was a complete non-factor in a Week 2 loss to the Denver Broncos, carrying the ball just twice for seven yards while adding nothing through the air. The lack of touches came out of nowhere in this one after Hyde led the team in touches in Week 1, but it appears that head coach Urban Meyer realizes that Hyde can't give the team as much as James Robinson going forward. Hyde should be valued as more of a handcuff following Week 2's lack of involvement, but there's a small chance that he could still have some standalone value as the season progresses.

Sep 18th · 04:37 PM
Carlos Hyde Lacks Fantasy Appeal In Week 2

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde projects as a low upside RB4 best left on fantasy benches in Week 2 in a tough matchup. Hyde out-touched James Robinson 11 to eight in Week 1, but he was out-snapped by Robinson, and lopsided game-script could have played a part in touch distribution. Hyde projects to struggle with the touches he does get in Week 2 against a Broncos team with a strong front seven that completely shut down the Giants' running game last week. In all but the deepest of fantasy formats, Hyde should be on benches this week.

Sep 13th · 01:03 AM
Carlos Hyde Leads The Backfield In Week 1

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde led the team in touches on Sunday, racking up 11 touches and 58 total yards in the team's 37-21 Week 1 defeat against the Houston Texans. The extent of Hyde's involvement was surprising, and it appears that he's in a fairly even timeshare with James Robinson. Hyde caught two balls in the game, but with Robinson, and potentially even Duke Johnson around going forward, it would be surprising if he maintained a relevant pass-catching role. Hyde doesn't have much big-play upside in the tank at this stage of his career, so he should be considered a low-upside RB4 despite leading the backfield committee in Week 1.

Aug 24th · 07:10 PM
Carlos Hyde's Stock On The Rise

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde could have a bigger role this season with rookieTravis Etienne (foot) suffering an unfortunate season-ending injury. On Monday night against the Saints, Etienne was diagnosed with a significant mid-foot tear. He will be sidelined for a minimum of 12 weeks, if not the entire 2021 season, per Ian Rapoport. Hyde is second in the depth chart with Etienne out, and he is rostered in less than 50% of leagues on the Sleeper app and less than 1% in ESPN leagues. If he is still on the waiver wire, fantasy football managers should consider adding him to their team, especially if you own James Robinson. Hyde will likely see usage in short-yardage and red-zone situations. However, in the 10 games he played last season, he was featured in less than 70% of the offensive snaps per game and found the end zone four times. In deeper leagues, Hyde should definitely be on the radar for fantasy managers.

Aug 22nd · 10:36 PM
Carlos Hyde An X-Factor For The Jaguars?

Jacksonville Jaguars veteran running back Carlos Hyde has had a fairly quiet training camp up until this point, but at least one reporter believes that Hyde will play a big role in 2021. Brian Sexton of Jaguars.com believes that Hyde "might be an X-factor this season," and he's "interested to see if the Jaguars are getting the guy who averaged 4.4 yards a carry in 2019, because [Hyde] doesn't look anything like the guy who averaged 3.3 yards for them in 2018." Despite the praise, Hyde projects to exclusively spell James Robinson occasionally on early downs, and he doesn't have a path to passing-game work with Travis Etienne Jr. in the fold. It's worth noting that Hyde is close with head coach Urban Meyer (who also coached him at Ohio State), but that's not enough to warrant fantasy relevance going into the season. Hyde is just a low upside backup running back this season.

Aug 8th · 12:25 AM
Carlos Hyde "Getting His Fair Share Of Touches"

Jacksonville Jaguars veteran running back Carlos Hyde is very much in the mix for touches despite the presence of James Robinson and Travis Etienne Jr. SI's John Shipley had this to say following Friday's practice "The running game is clearly going to be a big part of the Jaguars' offense, and it isn't surprising to see both Robinson and Hyde still get their fair share of touches with the starting offense, even with Etienne impressing throughout camp." If the offense is indeed run-heavy, there should be at least a limited amount of touches available for Hyde on the early downs. However, Hyde is still not draftable in most formats because his only chance at fantasy relevance would come via earning the goal-line role or one of the other backs ahead of him suffering an injury.

Jul 12th · 11:07 PM
Carlos Hyde Expected To Mix In On Early Downs

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Carlos Hyde, who played under Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer at Ohio State, was signed to a two-year, $6 million contract this offseason. Despite James Robinson's success last year and the arrival of first-round rookie RB Travis Etienne, Meyer wants the veteran Hyde to be a big part of the early-down running game. Meyer was quoted as saying that he sees "Carlos and James [as] the 1-2, downhill, powerful running backs." Meyer also noted that he sees Travis Etienne as the third-down back, so Hyde likely won't produce much in the passing game. Hyde comes into the season as a low-end RB5, but should James Robinson miss time he would be in line for significant touches on the ground in what figures to be a balanced offense. As far as insurance policies go, Hyde is a lot cheaper than most, but his upside is likely capped at the low-end RB2 level even if James Robinson were to go down with an injury.

Mar 16th · 12:06 AM
Carlos Hyde Signing Two-Year Deal With Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to terms with running back Carlos Hyde on a two-year, $6 million contract, according to multiple sources. The 30-year-old proved to be a useful veteran back in Seattle during 2020. Hyde has miniscule fantasy value behind James Robinson on the depth chart, as he is not much of a threat in the receiving game. Even in the event of a Robinson injury, there is no guarantee that Hyde will provide extreme value at this stage of his career. Robinson remains a solid RB2 for the start of the 2021 season.

No Carlos Hyde For Seattle In Week 17

Seattle Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde (illness) is out for Sunday's game against the 49ers. Coupled with Rashaad Penny's struggles since returning to the field, this should clear the way for a big showing by running back Chris Carson. Consider Carson a high-end RB2 for this matchup, even against a 49ers Defense that has the personnel to cause issues for Seattle.

Dec 20th · 11:59 PM
Carlos Hyde Rips Off 50-Yard Rushing TD In Week 15

Seattle Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde may have received just two carries during Sunday's win over Washington, but he ripped one of those off for a 50-yard dash that ended with his first touchdown since Week 11. While the rushing score was a boon for those who got extremely aggressive and rostered Hyde, his limited snap count and offensive touches does not bode well for a repeat occurrence over the final two weeks. Rashaad Penny made his season debut and also received two carries, while Chris Carson was the bell cow with 15 rushes. So long as Carson is healthy, Hyde can remain on the wire.

Dec 10th · 04:53 AM
Chris Carson, Carlos Hyde Limited

Seattle Seahawks running backs Chris Carson (foot) and Carlos Hyde (toe) and linebacker Bobby Wagner (hamstring) were limited in practice Wednesday. Carson had more of a workhorse role in his second game back last week, totaling 110 all-purpose yards and a touchdown against the Giants in the loss. With a bigger role in a dream matchup against the winless Jets, Carson is an RB1. Hyde had only five touches and played a quarter of the snaps in Week 13. His only hope is that Seattle is winning by so much that the Seahawks bench Carson early. The 30-year-old is merely a handcuff now. Wagner has been a top-10 fantasy linebacker in 2020 with 62 tackles, three sacks and seven passes defensed. He's an easy top-10 IDP player at his position if he plays.

Dec 6th · 01:35 PM
Carlos Hyde Will Play Against Giants

Seattle Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde (toe) will play against the Giants in Week 13. Hyde had his reps managed during the week, though he was able to get a limited session in on Friday. The veteran back put up 95 scrimmage yards and one touchdown as the fill-in starter for Chris Carson back in Week 11, then proceeded to out-touch the latter back in his return from injury last week. That being said, Carson is the engine of the Seattle offense and should be expected to return to the 18.7 touch workload he averaged earlier in the year. Hyde should still have value, though he'll check in as more of an RB3 type who probably needs to find the end zone to justify starting him.

Dec 5th · 12:20 AM
Carlos Hyde, Carlos Dunlap Questionable

Seattle Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde (ankle) and defensive end Carlos Dunlap (foot) are listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Giants. Hyde got in a limited practice on Friday, so we'd anticipate him playing on Sunday. Dunlap missed practice all week, so he's definitely on the wrong side of questionable for a great matchup against the Giants and backup quarterback Colt McCoy. Hyde out-snapped Chris Carson in Week 12 as the Seahawks eased Carson back into action after an extended absence. Despite seeing more work on Monday night, Hyde had just 29 total yards on 17 touches and should take a back seat to Carson if he plays this weekend. Hyde is a RB3/4 if he plays, but he's best served as a Carson handcuff at this point. Dunlap has been excellent since joining the team and would be a starting defensive lineman in IDP leagues if he can suit up. Seattle's defensive unit is also a great streaming option this weekend against New York.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
