Chris Conley Questionable With Non-COVID Illness

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley (illness) is listed as questionable to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts due to a non-COVID-19-related illness. Based on the fact that Conley was able to put in a limited practice on Friday after two straight DNPs, he should have a pretty good chance of being active in Week 13. Danny Amendola (knee) has been ruled out and could miss the next four weeks, so Conley and the other Houston receivers could see more production and targets as a result. However, in this low-scoring offense, Conley doesn't have much upside at all behind Brandin Cooks and rookie Nico Collins. The 29-year-old has produced only 14 catches for 233 yards and one touchdown on 22 targets in 11 games played. You can do better.

Chris Conley Out Sick Again Thursday

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley (illness) is out with a non-COVID-19-related illness for the second straight day on Thursday. He joins Brandin Cooks and running back David Johnson as players dealing with illness this week. Danny Amendola (knee) could miss up to four weeks with a knee injury he suffered in last week's loss to the New York Jets, so Conley could be in line for a few more targets and some extra playing time in the coming weeks. But if Cooks is able to suit up as the team's No. 1 receiver and target hog in Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts, it's unlikely that Conley will see enough targets to suddenly become relevant in fantasy. Rookie tight end Brevin Jordan is trending up, too, and has become more of a fixture in this low-ceiling offense.

Nov 4th · 01:24 AM
Rex Burkhead, Chris Conley Limited Wednesday

Houston Texans running back Rex Burkhead (hip) and wide receiver Chris Conley (calf) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Tight end Pharaoh Brown (thigh), who missed the Week 8 game, did not practice. In the first game without Mark Ingram II, Burkhead led Houston's running backs with a 49.2% snap share, with Scottie Phillips seeing 24.6% of the snaps behind him. Burkhead turned four carries into 21 yards and a touchdown, while catching three of four targets for 27 yards. You shouldn't be excited about rostering any RB from the Texans, but Burkhead might be worth a stash in deeper leagues if you're hurting for RB depth. Conley caught just one of two targets for 24 yards last Sunday and has been surpassed by Danny Amendola and Nico Collins in the pecking order.

Oct 24th · 07:04 PM
Nico Collins, Chris Conley Will Play

Houston Texans wide receivers Nico Collins (foot) and Chris Conley (neck) will both play on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Collins should play more snaps than Conley and could be viewed as a desperation play in deep leagues since he'll likely see around five targets, while Conley should be completely off of the fantasy radar at this point, especially against this Cardinals defense.

Oct 22nd · 08:57 PM
Nico Collins, Chris Conley Questionable For Sunday

Houston Texans wide receivers Nico Collins (foot) and Chris Conley (neck) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Collins started the week as a full participant at practice but was downgraded Thursday due to an ankle injury, though he still has a shot at suiting up. Meanwhile, Conley practiced in a limited fashion all week, and seems to be on the right side of questionable. Unfortunately, both players will likely be competing for snaps on the outside, making it hard to trust either of them for fantasy purposes. If in a bind, Collins would be the better play after immediately seeing six targets in his return from a shoulder injury last week.

Oct 14th · 10:47 PM
Chris Conley - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley will be tough to rely on for fantasy purposes against the Colts in Week 6. Conley is coming off his best game of the season, a three-catch, 84-yard effort with a touchdown scored against New England. Before that, he had failed to catch a pass in each of the two games he played. Conley will also be dealing with more competition for targets, as Nico Collins (shoulder) and Danny Amendola (thigh) could be back in the lineup. Even in a favorable matchup, Conley is not worth starting.

Oct 10th · 09:14 PM
Chris Conley Totals Season-High 84 Yards

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley caught two passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in a 25-22 loss to New England. Conley only saw four targets but made them count, corralling a 37-yard touchdown and a 40-yard reception. The big-bodied wideout has failed to exceed 30 yards in each of the previous four contests- so there shouldn't be too much stock put into this performance. Still, quarterback Davis Mills could give this offense a big boost for fantasy purposes if he continues to perform like he did Sunday, putting fringe players like Conley on the radar in season-long leagues.

Oct 3rd · 09:29 PM
Chris Conley Held Without A Catch

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley failed to record a reception in Sunday's 40-0 loss to the Bills. Conley has now gone two straight weeks without recording a reception, a disappointing effort given the opportunity in front of him. The veteran wideout may lose some playing time when Danny Amendola (hamstring) is fit to return- though he has little to no fantasy value even with the playing time he currently has. The Texans' lackluster offense only has room for one playmaker, Brandin Cooks, at the moment.

Sep 30th · 12:40 AM
Chris Conley Best Avoided Against Buffalo

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley will look to do more with his increased playing time in Week 4 against the Bills. Conley has taken advantage of the opportunity with Nico Collins (shoulder) and Danny Amendola (thigh) sidelined, as he has played at least 89 percent of the snaps in each of the last two weeks. That's very steady playing time for a wide receiver, though Conley doesn't have the touch totals to match, seeing just three targets over the last two weeks. The 28-year-old wideout could have a path to a productive day, but the stingy Buffalo defense makes him avoidable in all formats.

Sep 24th · 01:19 PM
Chris Conley Held Without A Catch Thursday

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley failed to record a catch in Thursday's loss to the Panthers. Conley had a quiet game despite the opportunity in front of him, as he saw just one target from rookie quarterback Davis Mills. The 28-year-old should continue to see a fair amount of playing time sans Nico Collins (shoulder) but won't have much fantasy appeal with Mills consistently locking on to Brandin Cooks.

Sep 21st · 09:30 PM
Chris Conley Should Have Expanded Role Against Panthers

Houston Texans wide receiver Chris Conley could be in line to see more work in the passing game in Week 3 against the Panthers. Conley has just three receptions in two games but was on the field for a whopping 90 percent of the offensive snaps in Week 2. The 28-year-old could be the team's starting wideout opposite Brandin Cooks, with Nico Collins (shoulder) and Danny Amendola (hamstring) banged up. Conley will, unfortunately, be catching passes from rookie Davis Mills, who could have his work cut out for him against a tough Panthers defense. Conley is a cheap DFS option that could pan out if Carolina focuses its defensive attention on Brandin Cooks. He's a mighty risky play, however.

Jul 17th · 07:22 PM
Chris Conley Among Veteran Receivers Who Could Earn Snaps

While the Houston Texans know that Brandin Cooks will be starting at outside receiver and one of Randall Cobb or Keke Coutee will get slot snaps, the competition for the other outside receiver role is a huge toss-up heading into camp. Rookie Nico Collins might be the long-term solution, but after not playing last season, it's unlikely he can start from the get. That leaves at least five players looking to win the No. 3 receiver role, including Chris Conley, Donte Moncrief, Alex Erickson, Chris Moore, and Taywan Taylor. Conley should be considered the early favorite for that role, as he's coming off two productive seasons with the Jaguars. But with so much mystery surrounding this competition, fantasy managers would be wise to just ignore this until we have some more data. Maybe someone emerges as a waiver wire addition early in the season, but you don't need to be drafting any of these players in redraft leagues.

Mar 25th · 05:03 PM
Texans Sign Chris Conley

The Houston Texans signed free-agent wide receiver Chris Conley to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million fully guaranteed on Wednesday. Conley can make another $500,000 through incentives. The veteran wideout will add depth to a receiving corps that also includes Brandin Cooks, Randall Cobb, Keke Coutee, Andre Roberts, Isaiah Coulter, Chris Moore and Donte Moncrief. The 28-year-old recorded 40 receptions on 63 targets for 471 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games (four starts) for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. His best season came in 2019 with the Jags, when he caught 47 passes (90 targets) for 775 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games (14 starts). The former third-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015 is unlikely to have much fantasy value at all with his new team.

Jan 4th · 02:04 AM
Chris Conley Compiles Season-High 87 Receiving Yards Sunday

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley saw his largest workload of the season during Sunday's loss to Indianapolis, racking up seven receptions and a season-high 87 receiving yards. Without DJ Chark Jr. (shin) in the passing game, Conley saw a significant boost in the passing game and closed out his second year with the Jaguars with a strong outing. Things could get crowded for Jacksonville out wide in 2021, so despite Conley having compiled 40 catches for 471 receiving yards this season, he may find himself competing on a weekly basis for targets. With three or fewer catches in five of his last six games, Conley won't find his way onto many season-long draft boards.

Nov 27th · 06:20 PM
D.J. Chark Jr., Chris Conley Ruled Out Against Browns

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers D.J. Chark Jr. (ribs) and Chris Conley (hip) have been ruled out for Week 12 against the Browns. The Jaguars will be seriously undermanned at the receiver position in quarterback Mike Glennon's first start since 2017. However, rookie Laviska Shenault Jr. could return from injury on Sunday. In any event, it looks like Keelan Cole could be Glennon's top aerial target this weekend, putting Cole on the flex radar in deeper leagues as a sleeper. This game could feature plenty of running from both sides, though, making Cole and Shenault (if he plays) hard to bank on in fantasy. Rookie wideout Collin Johnson could be forced into significant snaps, too, even if Shenault returns to the lineup.

Sep 25th · 04:08 AM
Chris Conley Has Rough Week 3

With Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiverD.J. Chark Jr. (back, chest) out, receiver Chris Conley was a popular pick to see an expanded role on Thursday night. And he did, as he led the team in targets with eight. The problem? Drops and some poor positioning led to Conley catching just three of those passes for 34 yards. This was his chance to impress and show he deserved a larger role, and it just didn't happen. Conley is on the fringes of rosterability in season-long leagues at this point, with his value fully dependent on Chark missing more time.

Sep 10th · 11:57 PM
Chris Conley A Deep League Option In Week 1

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley might not hold onto his starting role all season with Laviska Shenault Jr. lurking, but he's currently listed as a starter for the team and should be a solid fantasy option in deeper leagues in Week 1. Conley's been overlooked all offseason, but is coming off a solid 2019 that saw him catch 47 passes for 775 yards and five touchdowns. He had some bad games last season, but did have nine combined catches in two games against the Colts. In 14-team leagues, Conley's an intriguing flex option.

Feb 21st · 07:36 PM
Jaguars Pick Up Chris Conley's Option

The Jacksonville Jaguars exercised their team options for fifth-year wide receiver Chris Conley and fourth-year safety Jarrod Wilson on Friday. Conley will be under contract for 2020, while Wilson is now under contract through 2021. Conley set a career high in catches (47), receiving yards (775) and yards per catch (16.5) in his first season with the Jaguars in 2019. He managed five touchdowns in all 16 games (14 starts). The 27-year-old has 10 touchdowns in the last two seasons, but his fantasy ceiling is limited in a run-first offense while also competing for targets with D.J. Chark and Dede Westbrook. Think of Conley as more of a WR5/flex play in deeper leagues.

Dec 30th · 02:55 AM
Chris Conley Quiet In Week 17

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley ended a solid 2019 campaign with a three-catch, 38-yard effort against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17. Conley had three touchdowns in between Weeks 15 and 16, but wasn't able to replicate that success in the finale. It's hard to know what Conley's role -- if any -- will be moving forward for the Jaguars, but he's unlikely to be a fantasy target in most formats on draft day next season.

Dec 22nd · 10:14 PM
Chris Conley Catches Touchdown Against Falcons

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley led the team in receiving yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons, catching two passes for 56 yards and the team's only touchdown. Conley was targeted five times. It's hard to trust any part of Jacksonville's receiving corps right now, but Conley's been a solid player in the second half of the season and has appeal in deeper leagues for fantasy owners who play in Week 17.

Dec 20th · 03:37 PM
Chris Conley Could Play Key Role In Week 16

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley became the team's top option in Week 15 with D.J. Chark (ankle) out, catching four of his eight targets for 49 yards and two scores. Conley's role in Week 16 likely depends on Chark's availability, but if Chark ends up missing the contest, Conley would be an intriguing flex option in deeper leagues based on how much Minshew looked his way in Week 15.

Dec 15th · 11:30 PM
Chris Conley Scores Twice Versus Raiders

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley had a strong showing in Week 15 against the Raiders. He was targeted a team-high eight times and wound up with four catches for 49 yards and two touchdowns in the game. The team was without D.J. Chark (ankle) this week and both Conley and Keelan Cole took advantage. Cole led the team with 76 receiving yards in the game. If Chark remains out next week, Conley is a viable option as a WR3 of flex with a favorable Week 16 matchup against the Falcons.

Dec 9th · 12:25 AM
Chris Conley Held To One Reception

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley had seen an uptick in usage lately, but that usage was virtually non-existent in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. Conley caught just one pass for seven yards and was targeted three times. Maybe the change in quarterback was bad for Conley's fantasy value, or maybe it was just a bad day, but if you'd been counting on Conley to produce solid, low-ceiling outings in deep leagues, Sunday wasn't a good day for you.

Dec 7th · 05:47 PM
Chris Conley Remains Solid, Low-Upside Option

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Chris Conley has been incredibly consistent over the past three games, so if you need a fantasy wide receiver who'll catch four passes for 50 yards, Conley's the guy for you. He doesn't have tremendous upside and has just two touchdown receptions on the year, but his current role with the Jaguars does give him a solid floor. Sometimes, that's what you need.

Dec 4th · 10:10 PM
D.J. Chark, Chris Conley Limited Wednesday

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receivers D.J. Chark (back) and Chris Conley (ankle) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Both players should be able to suit up for Week 14 against the Chargers. Chark has underwhelmed in back-to-back games with seven catches for 85 scoreless yards, but the good news is he'll have rookie Gardner Minshew back under center moving forward. Conley has 14 targets the last two games but remains more of a WR4/5 as the No. 3 wideout in a run-first offense. The Bolts have been limiting opposing wideouts to a league-low 10.9 fantasy points per game the last five weeks (four games), so this is a tough matchup for Jacksonville's receivers.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
