Ezekiel Elliott's Knee Won't Be Good For Another 3-4 Weeks

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott said his injured knee isn't expected to be good for another three or four weeks after last week's MRI exam. Elliott said it's "perfect timing" with the playoffs starting shortly after that. Elliott's knee hasn't been scoped, and there are no plans for it to be scoped in the offseason. You can tell that Zeke isn't right when he carries the football. His knee injury started bothering him in Week 4, and he's seen single-digit carries in two of the last three games as the Cowboys look to lower his workload down the stretch. Tony Pollard outshined Elliott in last Thursday's win over the New Orleans Saints and just looks way more explosive at the point of attack. Elliott should be more of a low-end RB2 play this weekend against a Washington Football Team defense that is allowing the third-fewest rushing yards per game (91.3).

Ezekiel Elliott Struggles Through Week 13

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) struggled his way through another game in Week 13's Thursday Night Football matchup against the New Orleans Saints. "Zeke" ran the ball 13 times for 45 yards and caught two of his three targets for just two more yards. Once again, Elliott was outplayed by Tony Pollard, who looked healthy and explosive while Elliott slogged through, clearly hampered by his knee injury. There were rumors that Dallas could hold Elliott out completely, but they've allowed him to keep playing despite his struggles. He can't be seen as more than a high-floor RB3 until he shows that his injury has improved.

Ezekiel Elliott - Week 13 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) has practiced in full every day this week and is expected to suit up and start on Thursday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints in Week 13. Elliott has been healthy enough to play, but it's clear that the knee is an issue with his explosiveness, as Tony Pollard has looked like the better option out of the Dallas backfield for the past couple of weeks. Still, Elliott always has touchdown upside and should be considered a mid-range RB2 option against an elite New Orleans run defense.

Ezekiel Elliott Practices In Full Tuesday

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) practiced in full for the second straight day on Tuesday, and it was reported earlier on Tuesday that owner Jerry Jones expects Elliott to handle a serious offensive load on Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints. This comes after a report over the weekend that suggested the Cowboys could rest the 26-year-old so that he can get past a knee injury that has been bothering him more in recent weeks. Elliott has exactly nine carries in each of the last two games and has run for 57 total yards (3.17 yards per carry) and one touchdown in that span. It's great that he's practiced in full this week, but fantasy managers should temper expectations on Thursday against one of the best run defenses in the NFL. Consider Elliott more of an RB2 heading into Week 13, with Tony Pollard potentially in line for a bigger workload.

Cowboys Expect Ezekiel Elliott To Have A Serious Load

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team expects running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) to have a serious load against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night. Elliott has seen his workload decrease in recent weeks while battling through a nagging knee injury, and they said after the Thanksgiving game that they'd consider resting him for the stretch run. However, he was a full participant in practice and appears to have recovered nicely after last week's overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. In the last two games, Zeke has only 18 carries for 57 yards and one touchdown on the ground, adding 12 catches for 60 yards on 14 targets. Tony Pollard will still be involved, and Elliott will be more of a low-end RB2 against a Saints defense that has allowed the third-fewest rushing yards per game (91.9) in 2021.

Ezekiel Elliott Practices In Full Monday

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) was a full participant in practice on Monday. It's great news that Elliott is practicing in full to start the week, but he's still dealing with a knee injury that has been bothering him since Oct. 3, and the Cowboys have acknowledged that they're considering resting him or at least limiting his workload moving forward. The 26-year-old hasn't played more than 70% of the offensive snaps in any of the last four games, and that number could dip even further in the coming weeks. Expect to see more of backup Tony Pollard, who has been very efficient with his touches behind Zeke in 2021. Elliott is trending down as an RB2 heading into a matchup this Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints.

Nov 26th · 11:19 PM
Cowboys Might Rest Ezekiel Elliott

The Dallas Cowboys will consider giving running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) some time off to heal from a knee injury that he has been managing in recent weeks, which means he could be held out of action next Thursday against the New Orleans Saints. The source doesn't think the Cowboys are planning on placing Elliott on Injured Reserve, however. "It's that time of year, head coach Mike McCarthy said. "Zeke's running style is ferocious. He gives a pounding, and he takes some hits. We need to evaluate that, and this week we'll see what the preparation looks like for him." Elliott hasn't been nearly as productive the last two weeks, averaging 3.17 yards per carry on 18 rushing attempts for 57 yards and a touchdown. Tony Pollard would have RB1 upside in the event that Elliott is held out of the Week 13 game or beyond.

Ezekiel Elliott Dealing With Knee Injury, Cowboys "May Alter Touches"

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) is dealing with a bone bruise in his knee. He rushed for 25 yards on nine carries and a touchdown while catching six passes for 24 yards in the Thanksgiving game loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Cowboys may alter Zeke's touches as he deals with a bone bruise in his knee. Elliot has rushed for 760 yards on 160 attempts and eight touchdowns, with 52 receptions for 338 yards and two scores over 10 games in 2021. Tony Pollard is expected to see an increased role going forward after carrying the ball 10 times for 36 yards, catching all four of his targets for 32 yards, and returning three kickoffs for 129 yards, including a 100-yard touchdown in Thursday's loss. Pollard should be rostered in all league formats and is an RB3 with RB2 upside moving forward.

Nov 25th · 02:26 PM
Ezekiel Elliott Will Play On Thursday, Likely To Deal With Pain

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) will play in Week 12 versus Las Vegas. Zeke has been dealing with a bone bruise in his knee, but his full participation at practice over the last two days was certainly good news for his fantasy managers. However, he will likely be dealing with a considerable amount of pain, so the door is open for Tony Pollard to receive a more prominent workload on Thanksgiving. As a result, Pollard should be viewed as a flex option in deeper formats, with his stock increasing even more if CeeDee Lamb (concussion), who remains questionable, can't suit up.

Nov 24th · 11:02 PM
No Injury Designation For Ezekiel Elliott

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) practiced in full the last two days and doesn't have an injury designation heading into the annual Thanksgiving Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday. Elliott got his leg stepped on in last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs but he returned to the game and should be fine for Week 12 action. Left tackle Tyron Smith (ankle) was also removed from the final injury report and will return to action. With Smith returning and with Dallas facing a Raiders defense that has allowed the fourth-most rushing yards per game (132.1), Zeke should be fed early and often on Thanksgiving. He's a must-start RB1.

Nov 24th · 12:30 AM
Ezekiel Elliott Returns To Full Practice Tuesday

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) was able to practice in full on Tuesday after he was listed as limited on Monday's estimated practice report. Elliott suffered an ugly looking injury out of bounds in the Week 11 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but he was able to return to the game and looks to be fine for the team's annual Thanksgiving game this Thursday against the Las Vegas Raiders. The 26-year-old and the Cowboys offense weren't able to get anything going last Sunday, and he had a season-low nine carries for 32 yards while catching all six of his targets for 36 yards. Expect Dallas to lean heavily on their ground game against a Raiders D that has allowed 132.1 rushing yards per game (fourth-most in the NFL). He's a must-start RB1 in Week 12.

Nov 23rd · 08:58 PM
Ezekiel Elliott - Week 11 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) didn't do much in a Week 11 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs but will look for a better performance on Thanksgiving Day against another AFC West team, the Las Vegas Raiders. Elliott missed some time in Week 11 due to a knee injury, but he was able to return to the game and got in a designated limited practice on Monday heading into Week 12 before getting in a full practice on Tuesday. Elliott may cede some more work than usual to Tony Pollard if the knee starts acting up, but going against a beatable Raiders run defense makes Elliott a low-end RB1 with some upside this week.

Nov 23rd · 12:59 AM
Ezekiel Elliott Listed As Limited Monday

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) was listed as limited on Monday's estimated practice report. Elliott suffered an ugly looking ankle injury in the Week 11 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent some time on the sidelines trying to get it loosened up and eventually returned, though, so unless Zeke suffers a setback in practice this week, he should be active on Thanksgiving on Thursday against the Las Vegas Raiders. Wide receiver Amari Cooper will be out in Week 12 due to COVID-19, and CeeDee Lamb (concussion) could be unlikely to play on a short week, so the Cowboys could rely heavily on Elliott and the ground game against the Raiders. As long as Elliott is active, he'll be a must-start in fantasy.

Nov 22nd · 03:10 AM
Ezekiel Elliott Doesn't Do Much In Week 11

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (ankle) was forced to miss some of Week 11's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but ultimately returned in the fourth quarter and seemed fine. Still, he had an unimpressive game, running the ball nine times for 32 scoreless yards and adding six catches on six targets for 36 more yards. He was soundly outplayed by Tony Pollard, who averaged 7.1 yards per carry on seven totes. Elliott won't have much time to rest with the Cowboys playing on Thanksgiving, but he should be fine to play through the ankle issue even if he misses some early-week practices.

Nov 18th · 04:35 PM
Ezekiel Elliott - Week 11 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) is a good fantasy option in Week 11 despite a tough matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though the Chiefs have struggled on defense in general throughout the season, they've actually been the fifth best at limiting opposing running backs over the past five weeks. Still, Elliott has proven to be matchup proof, and this game should end up with one of the highest scores of the week, giving "Zeke" plenty of upside. He was on the team's injury report with a knee issue, but got a full practice in on Wednesday and is not expected to be limited at all for Sunday's game. He's an easy RB1 with top-tier upside in Week 1.

Nov 15th · 01:34 AM
Ezekiel Elliott Scores Twice In Week 10 Victory

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott scored two touchdowns in a Week 10 win over the Atlanta Falcons. "Zeke" ran the ball 14 times, gaining 41 yards and scoring twice. He also caught three passes for 15 yards and completed a pass for four yards as well. It was a little bit of everything from Elliott, who scored on one-yard and two-yard goal line plunges in a 43-3 win. His efficiency wasn't the greatest, as he averaged just 2.9 yards per carry, but the situations Elliott and the Cowboys offense tend to find themselves in makes him an easy RB1 every week that he plays.

Nov 12th · 01:20 AM
Ezekiel Elliott Remains Limited On Thursday

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) remained limited in Thursday's practice with a knee injury. In a blowout loss against the Denver Broncos in Week 9, Elliott rushed for 51 yards on 10 carries and also caught three balls for 25 yards. More should be known on the status of Zeke on Friday, but managers should expect him to suit up for a tasty matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10. If Elliott were to miss Sunday or any future games, Tony Pollard would be the next man up. Pollard is one of the best insurance policies in the league and should be rostered in all formats, especially by managers that roster Elliott.

Nov 10th · 09:25 PM
Ezekiel Elliott - Week 10 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) didn't do much in Week 9, but neither did anyone on the Cowboys offense in an ugly loss to the Denver Broncos. Elliott totaled just 76 yards from scrimmage and put up his third-worst fantasy performance of the season. Week 10 sees the Cowboys take on the Atlanta Falcons, a team whose defense is currently ranked 27th against opposing running backs. It's a get-right matchup for "Zeke" and everyone else on the Dallas offense. Elliott is a clear RB1 with upside in this one, despite the fact that he was limited in practice with a knee issue. The team has not displayed much concern around Elliott's injury, and he is fully expected to play in Week 10. A close look at the late-week practice reports wouldn't hurt, though.

Nov 7th · 11:31 PM
Ezekiel Elliott Plays Through A Knee Injury In Week 9

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott played through a knee injury in a Week 9 loss to the Denver Broncos. Elliott was forced to leave the game with a knee issue, but returned soon after and was still playing near the end of a blowout loss that at one point saw the Cowboys trailing 30-0. It was a good sign that "Zeke" was in there for what would clearly be meaningless snaps, meaning he likely isn't dealing with a serious issue. He ended up running the ball 10 times for 51 yards and catching all three of the passes thrown his way for an additional 25 yards. Elliott and the Cowboys as a team will likely see better results in Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Nov 7th · 07:58 PM
Ezekiel Elliott Back In Against Broncos

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) left Sunday's game against the Broncos and was declared questionable to return, but the star running back has already re-entered the game with the Cowboys trailing by three scores. The team used Tony Pollard on the kick return before the drive began, another sign that Elliott's knee injury must not be something to worry much about, as Pollard serves as the backup running back to Elliott and likely wouldn't be out on special teams if the team expected he might be needed as the lead back.

Nov 7th · 07:48 PM
Ezekiel Elliott Questionable To Return In Week 9

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Broncos with a right knee contusion. Elliott has six carries for 27 yards and two receptions for 21 yards so far in Sunday's game. If he's unable to return, Tony Pollard will serve as the lead back for the rest of the day. Pollard is a borderline fantasy RB1 if Elliott misses time.

Nov 4th · 03:19 PM
Ezekiel Elliott - Week 9 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is set up for another strong performance in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos. Elliott hasn't scored in two weeks, but he's run the ball 33 times and made 11 catches in the meantime, so his fantasy production hasn't slipped too much. In Week 9, he'll get a Broncos defense that is excellent at limiting the passing game but very exploitable in the run game. Combine that with the Cowboys likely trying to have Dak Prescott (calf) do as little as necessary, and this could be another 20+ touch game for "Zeke" with touchdown upside. He's a clear RB1 for Week 9 lineups.

Nov 1st · 03:20 PM
Ezekiel Elliott Has A Quiet Week 8

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott had a mostly quiet Week 8 in a win over the Minnesota Vikings. "Zeke" ran the ball 16 times for 50 yards and caught four passes on six targets for another 23 yards. With the Vikings defense forcing backup quarterback Cooper Rush throwing the ball 40 times in a close game, Elliott never had a chance to get going on the ground. One of his catches was a huge play in the final drive that set up the game-winning touchdown though, so even in a mostly ineffective game, Elliott was still a key piece of the offense. He should see more running room in Week 9 with the expected return of Dak Prescott (calf) under center.

Oct 28th · 03:17 PM
Ezekiel Elliott - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will look for another 100-yard game in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Cowboys are coming off their bye week, but Elliott has a streak of four consecutive games with 100 or more yards from scrimmage. He only ran for 69 yards in Week 6, his lowest total since Week 1, but he set season highs in catches (seven) and receiving yards (50) to make up for it. The Vikings defense has been able to shut down opposing passing games but hasn't been great against the run. This could be a game where the Cowboys rely on Elliott and the running game. He's an easy RB1 with huge upside.

Oct 18th · 03:10 PM
Ezekiel Elliott Has Another Solid Game In Week 6

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott had another solid performance in a Week 6 overtime win against the New England Patriots. "Zeke" ran the ball 17 times for 69 yards and added seven catches for 50 more yards. It was the first time since Week 1 that Elliott did not score a touchdown, but also the fourth game in a row where he totaled over 100 yards from scrimmage. Playing on an elite offense that's never out of a game, Elliott should continue to be a strong RB1 option every week. The Cowboys head into their bye week for Week 7.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”

Alex Baker has been playing daily fantasy professionally since 2015 under the handle Awesemo. Working his way up from the smallest stakes, he has been the #1 overall ranked player in DFS since 2017 on the strength of his predictive models for sports. As the competition has gotten more sophisticated, Alex has used game theory to build a winning strategy combining his fantasy and ownership projections. To this day, he still participates in almost every DFS tournament available.
