James Washington Catches Touchdown Vs. Lions

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught two of six targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in a 16-16 tie with the Detroit Lions in Week 10. Washington came down with the Steelers' only touchdown of the game on a nine-yard pass from Mason Rudolph in the first quarter. The veteran wideout didn't do much else but he did finish with a season-high six targets in a game without Chase Claypool (toe). Washington will presumably continue to start opposite of Diontae Johnson if Claypool winds up having to miss another week. He will face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11.

James Washington - Week 10 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington could finally get his chance to become a major part of the offense in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions. Starting wide receiver Chase Claypool (toe) is looking extremely unlikely to play, which would push Washington into the starting lineup opposite of Diontae Johnson this weekend. Washington has flashed at various times during his career but the Steelers haven't seemed particularly motivated to get him involved in the offense in 2021 despite the season-ending shoulder injury that JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered during Week 5. Unless desperate, fantasy gamers should give it a week and see how the Steelers use Washington against the Lions in Week 10 before inserting him into starting lineups. Treat him as a low-end WR4 for now.

James Washington - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington failed to capitalize on his increased opportunities in Week 6. Despite JuJu Smith-Schuster (shoulder) being out for the season, Washington only played eight snaps against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6, finishing with one catch for nine yards. He will look to bounce back in a plus matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. Cleveland is allowing the 11th-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season and may be without top cornerback Denzel Ward (hamstring) in Week 8. That being said, Washington can't be trusted for fantasy until he shows that he will be a major piece of the Pittsburgh offense. Treat him as a desperation flex for Week 8.

James Washington Makes One Catch In Week 6

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught his lone target for a nine-yard gain in a 23-20 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. Washington's catch came on Pittsburgh's second drive of the game and he was not heard from again in the contest, despite operating as the No. 3 receiver in the Pittsburgh offense with JuJu Smith-Schuster (shoulder) out for the year. Washington is simply not going to be a major piece of this offense, even with Smith-Schuster sidelined. The Steelers head into their bye in Week 7 before a divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8.

Oct 15th · 11:34 PM
Chase Claypool, James Washington Cleared For Week 6

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers Chase Claypool (hamstring) and James Washington (groin) were both removed from the final injury report for Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. Claypool and Diontae Johnson are the clear top two receivers for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and Claypool has an even higher fantasy ceiling with JuJu Smith-Schuster (shoulder) out for the rest of the season. The Notre Dame product had 130 yards and found the end zone in the Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos and will be a strong WR2 choice against a Seattle team allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game to receivers this year. Washington will return after missing last week and should be in three-receiver sets behind Claypool and Johnson. There is some deep-league and DFS sleeper potential for Washington in this matchup.

Oct 15th · 10:02 AM
James Washington Limited On Thursday

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington (groin) turned in a second straight limited practice on Thursday. If he's able to play in Week 6, Washington will be counted upon to help replace JuJu Smith-Schuster (shoulder) who suffered a season-ending injury in Week 5. Washington draws a plus matchup in Week 6 against a Seattle Seahawks defense that has struggled against opposing wide receivers as they are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position through the first five games. If Washington plays, fantasy gamers can plug him into their lineups as a potential flex option in deeper leagues. Be sure to monitor Pittsburgh's Friday injury report to see if Washington gets upgraded to a full session.

Oct 14th · 01:28 AM
Chase Claypool, James Washington Limited In Practice

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers Chase Claypool (hamstring) and James Washington (groin) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Claypool missed Week 4 but returned to catch five of his six targets for 130 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos. With JuJu Smith-Schuster (shoulder) now done for the year, Claypool should be an even safer WR2 for fantasy managers, beginning this Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks, a team that has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game to receivers. Washington missed last Sunday but is on track to return and should have a bigger role with Smith-Schuster sidelined. He has only nine catches on 13 targets for 99 yards in four games this year, so fantasy managers in shallow leagues should just keep an eye on Washington and his role in this offense moving forward.

Oct 10th · 04:00 PM
James Washington Out For Week 5

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington (groin) is out for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Last week with Chase Claypool (hamstring) out, Washington saw more work than usual, with four catches for 69 yards. Claypool's return this week meant that Washington wasn't going to see much work anyway, so this shouldn't impact your fantasy lineups much.

Oct 4th · 01:20 AM
James Washington Goes For 69 Yards In Loss

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught four of five targets for 69 yards in a 27-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 4. The Steelers went into the game without wideout Chase Claypool (hamstring) and it was Washington who picked up the slack for Pittsburgh, finishing second on the team in receiving. There is no word yet as to whether Claypool's hamstring issue will be a multi-week injury, but Washington will be on the flex radar in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos if Claypool can't suit up.

Sep 27th · 12:38 AM
James Washington Makes Three Catches In Week 3

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught three of five targets for 20 yards in a 24-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3. Washington appeared to be in line for a larger role with Diontae Johnson ruled out earlier in the week, but instead, Ben Roethlisberger directed a combined 34 targets at Najee Harris and Chase Claypool in the loss. Washington theoretically would have value as a flex in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers if Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster (ribs) were not to play, but based on his light usage in Week 3, he's best left on waivers in fantasy.

Aug 8th · 07:04 PM
James Washington Reportedly Did Not Request Trade

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has refuted Adam Schefter's report that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington requested a trade recently. Schefter reported on Friday that Washington was unhappy about his lack of playing time and wanted out, but Gerry Dulac tweeted that "multiple sources" told him that a trade has not been requested by Washington's camp. Washington won't get much playing time as the No. 4 wideout behind Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool, and JuJu Smith-Schuster this year but he is apparently content to play out the final year of his deal and hit free agency following the 2021 season.

Aug 6th · 06:43 PM
James Washington Requests Trade From Steelers

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington has requested a trade. According to Schefter, Washington requested a trade based on his limited playing time last season and this preseason. The 25-year-old is buried on the wide receiver depth chart behind JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, and Chase Claypool. Washington hauled in 30 catches on 56 targets for 392 yards and five touchdowns across 16 games in 2020. It remains to be seen if Pittsburgh will move the 2018 second-round pick, but he should generate plenty of interest from NFL teams in search of wideout depth. Stay tuned.

Jul 27th · 01:38 AM
James Washington Listed As No. 4 WR

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington is listed as the team's No. 4 wide receiver on the camp opening depth chart. In not much of a surprise, Washington finds himself listed behind starters Diontae Johnson, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Chase Claypool on the depth chart and is listed as the direct backup to Johnson. Washington took a big step back in 2020, finishing with 392 yards after going for 735 yards in 2019. Part of the step back can be attributed to the breakout year turned in by Chase Claypool, who easily leapfrogged Washington on the depth chart. Washington, who can be a free agent following the 2021 season, is not on the radar in redraft fantasy leagues.

Oct 18th · 09:18 PM
James Washington Finds End Zone In Week 6

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught four of seven targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in a 38-7 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 6. It was a quality outing for Washington, who was Ben Roethlisberger's most-targeted wide receiver with Diontae Johnson inactive due to a back injury. Washington reeled in a 28-yard touchdown from Big Ben in the second quarter as he did most of his damage in the first half. Despite the big game, Washington is likely to return to fantasy irrelevance in Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans provided Diontae Johnson is over his back injury.

Sep 27th · 09:25 PM
James Washington Sees Seven Targets In Week 3

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught five of his seven targets for 36 yards in a 28-21 win over the Houston Texans in Week 3. Washington finished tied for first on the team in targets after Diontae Johnson left during the first half with a concussion. Through three games, Washington has caught 10 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. He could be in line for an increased role in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans if Johnson isn't able to clear the league's concussion protocol by then. That being said, even if Johnson is out next week, Washington would be just a flex option in fantasy.

Sep 15th · 02:48 AM
James Washington Finds End Zone In Week 1

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught two passes for 34 yards and a touchdown in a 26-16 win over the New York Giants in Week 1. Washington was targeted three times in the win. The third-year wide receiver found the end zone in the second quarter on a 13-yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger. He caught the ball a few yards shy of the goal line and shook off a big hit to power his way over the goal line for the score. Despite the score, Washington operated as the clear No. 3 option in the passing game behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson, limiting his upside in fantasy. Washington will be a WR4 in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos.

Sep 8th · 04:40 PM
James Washington A Flex Option In Week 1

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington draws a plus matchup against the New York Giants in Week 1 of the season. Washington came on strong at the end of the 2019 season and should benefit from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger being back under center for the team. The Giants were one of the most generous teams in the league when it came to allowing wide receiver production in 2019, so Washington has a chance to get off to a fast start. The main concern is just how many targets Washington will draw this season as he is likely the No. 3 option in the passing game behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson. Washington shapes up as a flex option in Week 1's opener.

Aug 7th · 06:12 PM
James Washington Activated From COVID-19 List

The Pittsburgh Steelers activated wide receiver James Washington from the COVID-19 reserve list on Friday. Washington was placed on the list on August 2. The third-year wide receiver has 60 receptions for 952 yards and four touchdowns across his two NFL seasons. The team released linebacker John Houston, an undrafted rookie free-agent, in a corresponding move to create room on the roster for Washington. Washington will compete to be the No. 3 receiver in Pittsburgh behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson this season.

Dec 27th · 06:50 PM
James Washington A Flex Option Against Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington has really come into his own over the second half of this season. Often serving as the team's WR1 in JuJu Smith-Schuster's absence, Washington has 44 receptions for 735 yards and three scores in his second full campaign. Against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Washington could slip behind the secondary for some big plays, as Baltimore is expected to rest their starters. With Smith-Schuster being back, it definitely draws some attention off the second-year receiver, making him a touchdown-dependent WR3 in an important game for the Steelers.

Dec 22nd · 08:19 PM
James Washington Catches Five Passes In Week 16

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught five of eight targets for 41 yards in Sunday's loss to the Jets. The second-year receiver got shaken up earlier in the game but was able to return, and while he didn't score, he doubled the number of looks that JuJu Smith-Schuster received. Washington and Diontae Johnson have been flip-flopping as the second option in the passing game all season, but the rookie took the cake in Week 16. In Week 17 against the Ravens, Washington won't carry much DFS value outside of a GPP flier.

Dec 20th · 07:30 PM
James Washington Likely To Take Step Back Against Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington will return to WR2 duties against the New York Jets on Sunday. JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) was cleared to play and did not carry an injury designation on Friday, allowing him to return after missing the last four games. Washington has performed admirably since taking over the WR1 duties in Week 12. He's hauled in 16 of 26 targets for 325 yards and two touchdowns over the last four weeks, and while the Jets are a favorable matchup, the return of Smith-Schuster along with Devlin Hodges at quarterback, Washington shouldn't be viewed as a great fantasy choice. He might return WR4 value if he's able to find the end zone.

Dec 16th · 03:48 AM
James Washington Piles Up 83 Yards in Week 15

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught five passes in Week 15, gaining 83 scoreless yards. Washington was targeted 11 times, which led the Steelers. His five catches tied for the lead on the team with two other players, and his 83 yards were tops on the team as well. It was an overall strong game by Washington against a tough Buffalo Bills Defense. He'll have the Jets Defense to deal with next week.

Dec 13th · 07:38 PM
James Washington Has Tough Matchup On Sunday

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington will serve as the team's WR1 against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, since JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) suffered a setback is officially listed as out. The second-year man out of Oklahoma State has proven capable of producing over the last five weeks, catching 20 of 27 targets for 381 yards and three touchdowns. However, the Bills house one of the top passing defenses in the league, which makes Washington a risky WR4 and likely not an option outside of a second flex spot in the fantasy semifinals.

Dec 8th · 11:57 PM
James Washington Posts Modest Game

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington caught all four targets for 33 yards in Sundays 23-17 win over Arizona. Washington has done a solid job serving as the Steelers WR1 in JuJu Smith-Schusters (knee) three-week absence, catching 11 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Against the porous Cardinals secondary, more would have been nice but the team only threw the ball 19 times, so there was only so much to go around in Week 14. If Smith-Schuster returns next Sunday against the Bills, it will probably help Washingtons outlook as he wont be the main attention of the secondary.

Dec 6th · 10:45 PM
James Washington Has WR2 Upside In Week 14

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington has scored a touchdown in three of the last four games and is primed for a perfect fantasy matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The second-year receiver has performed admirably in JuJu Smith-Schuster's (knee) absence and seems to have established a solid connection with quarterback Devlin Hodges. Arizona has allowed 40 PPR fantasy points per game to wide receivers, so Washington could easily put up a solid day. Temper expectations but feel comfortable starting Washington as a flex with WR2 upside.

Are NFL Trade Rumor Covered in the Player News?
Yes! As you can see from this Julio Jones write up from his player page, we updated his news section as soon as the news broke.
“The Atlanta Falcons are not expected to trade quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason, according to sources. “The Falcons have not had any trade conversations about Ryan or their star wide receiver Julio Jones. And every expectation is both players are going to be on the roster in 2021,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. New head coach Arthur Smith plans to run a similar offense to the one Kyle Shanahan used when Ryan won MVP in 2016. Atlanta would be on the hook for more than $44 million in dead money in 2021 if they traded Ryan before June 1. Atlanta may decide to take Ryan’s heir-apparent at No. 4 overall in the draft, but the 35-year-old signal-caller is expected to stay put for at least another season. Ryan and Jones got it going to end the regular season and could be in line for bounce-back campaigns under Smith in 2021. Consider Ryan a midrange QB1 heading into next season.”
